@Ray Valentine Many people died in 9/11, causing a wake up call about national security and terrorism. Obviously, people care. Second, conspiracies are not fact. Yes I came back here after watching spiderman NWH. The MCU can NEVER replicate this. Still one of the best cinematic film that transcend the generic superheroes movies. So proud to be young and alive to experience the first 3 films. What nostalgia. When Tobey spiderman music score played in the background, a deep yearning came from deep within. Maybe if Tobey agrees to return for one final solo film maybe Miles Morales would be introduced for Peter to mentor and pass the mantle to. One ending could be if Peter and Miles defeat the main villain and Peter seemingly dies a heroic death. No they don't. Raimi fanboys give it enough respect. I like the Raimi trilogy, but I HATE the community of people who also like it. They silence any other opinion they don't like, and when they have no argument, they just resort to "lol u r pathetic" and random insults like that. I really don't appreciate that, especially because I actually think the Raimi trilogy is pretty good! (2nd best of the 3 trilogies, in my personal opinion.)
Seeing this in theaters again, I chilled up and got teary eyed lol this is the one scene I remember seeing when I was 7. It was so great to see again on the big sceen
I remember when I first got this movie on DVD. The main menu was basically this scene on repeat over and over again. Sometimes I would just let it play continuously and then watching the movie after about 10-15 minutes. Good times!
A beautiful way to end a movie, this alone shows how much Sam really cared for the character he wanted the feel of Spider-Man swinging to feel real. And the music to go with it makes it feel exhilarating and powerful.
No director can match Raimi’s vision when it comes to web swinging. 20 years later, bigger budgets, overusing CGI and still no one can beat what Sam Raimi and his team did in 2002.
I personally think Andrew had better swinging as he much more agile and acrobatic with it. However Tobey’s swinging scenes are definitely enhanced by the god-tier soundtrack
0:23 when Tobey Maguire comes to save Andrew and Tom in No way home and does not have to worry about reloading webs . If Tobey Maguire fights villians in no way home he is the only Spider-Man that won't have to worry about reloading webs , getting his hands crush by villians but will still be able to shoot webs
While the physics might not be as realistic, the reason this scene, and a lot of Raimi's swinging scenes still look so good is because they weren't fully CGI. They composited on top of actual live action footage of cameras swinging through the streets and buildings. Like 0:29 - 0:33 is an actual real camera shot. The mix of real life elements helps sell the illusion. Whereas TASM and MCU's swinging scenes are 100% CGI. Also Danny Elfman's score is still the best Spiderman soundtrack ever written and singlehandedly lifts this scene above the rest.
Tom Holland: Garbage. Can't blame him though. He woulda been a great Spider-Man if it wasn't for the shitty scriptwriters in the mcu. They don't know squat about Spider-Man's character.
@@aseem2985 they need to go back and read the comics, and also watch the tobey and Andrew’s spider man films. First and foremost, uncle Ben should be the centerpiece of spider man, he’s the whole reason why Spider-Man is the way he is. Peter shouldn’t have looked up to tony as a father figure
I was 4 when this movie came out however seeing it with my dad is quite easily one of the clearest memories I have from my early childhood. That moment will never be relived and never will such a superhero movie, ever again, be made.
After i born 1 year spiderman 3 came out later when i was 5~6? My dad showed this movie and i watched all of them and keep repeated like 6 year it's my childhood itself
What raimi made back then was magic. I can't put to words how much this trilogy means to me. It shaped my childhood and even to this day when I go back to these movies I love them more and more. Becoming older and understanding the themes and ideals of Spider-Man made me relate heavily as a person that is turning into an adult in a few months. These movies taught people that everyone can be a hero. They aspire me to be a better person
Many don’t seem to realize, at the time of the movies release, New York was recovering from the 9/11 terrorist attacks. This is exactly what New York, America and perhaps the world needed. A hero to watch over the ppl.
Over a decade later and this still looks more impressive than movies of today. Loved seeing this back in ‘02, first superhero movie I saw in theaters. Good times.
that's because in the MCU's spiderman doesn't have any visual weight to it IMO it's fluid and focuses on stylishness rather than majesticness In Raimi's there's visual weight even when we don't experience the swinging we can feel the weight and the pressure that each swinging motion does to the body, the muscle stretches and bends and i guess it's also thanks how the swinging scenes were filmed and plus the motion blurs was really good which emphasizes not only the speed but the weight.
@@Respect-ez6xw right hence the obviousness of the CG but they used whatever resources and the best of their abilities to make to make it feel and look real
This is the real Spider-Man and the movie that launched the hero movie era. Without this movie there would be no marvel movie series and no hero movie/tv era. This is the movie that made it all possible.
Bruh X-Men beat this movie by 2 years. Raimi's Spidey played a huge role in making the modern superhero movie but without the success of Singer's X-Men this movie would never have happened.
I really love how serious, unironic, and textured Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films are. And while I’m not a New Yorker or much of a working class man, I don’t know if there’s a fictional character I identify more with than Spider-Man. It’s truly a testament to how powerful these films are.
I don’t know why some people hate this spider-man🤔? They prefer TASM to this spider-man.Tobey acted better than Andrew Garfield. He's better than Tom Holland as well.
There hasn't been a single Spiderman film that has captured the excitement and climactic payoff of this scene right here. They all lack the importance and weight of the story. Ironman may have been the start of the MCU, but this movie was the start of the new generation of superhero blockbusters. I played this scene over and over again as a kid - the combination of the visuals, the emotional character arc, and Danny Elfman's unrivaled soaring score...it inspired my imagination to new heights. Now, while I can see the faults as an adult, I'm still enamored by the unique vision of Raimi. From goofy camp, to violent and brutal, to emotional and human. Every Spiderman movie since, it seems, has only tried (and failed) to recreate and revamp what this did so perfectly - capture the power, excitement, freedom, humanity, and burden of swinging above the streets of New York, as Spider-Man.
I don't understand why after 19 years the swing looks more realistic than in modern movies. The final swing from the first movie is so incredibly inspirational.
No matter how old I get and no matter how much time has passed since I've watched this film, I will always get chills watching this scene and getting reminded what it means to be amazing. Spider-man will always be the best super hero ever
just saw this movie in the theater last night for the first (and probably) last time. the chills i got watching this scene on the big screen were crazy. i was born in 2004 so i barely had a chance to watch spider-man 3. seeing my favorite hero AND it being tobey maguire was a dream come true.
What makes this scene so amazing to me is how the camera zooms closer to Spider-Man as he is swinging, while it makes you feel like that your swinging with him.
Different strokes. 1 is the perfect comic book film honestly, an excellent origin story, and is super iconic. 2 is definitely more of a character drama disguised as a superhero blockbuster. 2 is just so well built up, well made, and has amazing thematic structure. The ending is satisfying as hell, yet not too happy.
Powerful ending. I forgot Spidey’s suit colors represent the American Flag. This film really had a great message about choosing the right path in a world lacking camaraderie, patriotism and selflessness.
Spiderman I and II were the only movies that successfully portrayed the character accurately, down to the iconic music, and the "thought balloons" going on in Peter's head. Parker was his own most rigorous critic, & Stan Lee's writing always had the hero mentally pouring over what he was doing. This scene shows that superbly.
@@szilagyidavid650 yep this is around the time they were taking out any references two Twin Towers mainly cuz what happened the year prior they was assumed that was supposed to been in the movie which was in the original trailer where there was these bank robbers that were robbing the bank and their getaway was the helicopter which Spider-Man had put his lips between the Twin Towers which trapped them in between the towers which that scene was removed.
Movie's from 2002 and this scene alone shows how shitty Homecoming was when it comes to Spider-man mythology understanding, who cares if he has web shooters or not if he doesn't know how to use them but yea, let's put some chatty AI inside his suit so kids may think he's cool.
Homecoming wasn't bad (I enjoyed the film), but it will just never reach the overall quality of the trilogy (at least the first two films :P). I would say Tom's performance was great, and Spidey is doing great for this part in the MCU, as far as what he's supposed to do. But there's something missing. He just seems really fake. Not his behaviour, how he speaks, how he moves, but his core. The whole "power and resposibility" has no meaning in Homecoming. His uncle, one of the most important characters in the whole Spiderman origin, got killed a few months ago, and he behaves like it never happened. They didn't even mention him. Not even talking about the whole Stark babysitting lol. TLDR, the problem is in his motivation. He doesn't fight because he must, he does it because he wants to be a hero. But as I said, he's doing good for what he is supposed to do, but he just seems like he's in the wrong time and on the wrong place in the MCU timeline. That's why it will never beat the trilogy.
Ikr he is the best Spider-"Man" for the MCU but in overall i dont like him rightg now. In the future he will be for sure better than he actually is in homecoming but still no one beats TASM or Tobey
@@Helios_._ I think that adult Peter & Miles Morales story would fit the MCU a bit better. This storyline revolves about a few more heroes, which makes Spiderman less of a "solo" hero, so it woud be better for the MCU. Also, I would say that Miles is the type of Spiderman MCU probably wants.
Whatever life holds in store for me I'll never forget these words With great power comes great responsibility This is my gift My curse Who am i? I'm Spider-Man (Still gives me goosebumps tobey's spidey was legendary)
The reason these scenes are so great is because they made us, the viewers, feel what it is like to be Spiderman ourselves, swinging between buildings of New York City in the sunset...
js100serch What's funny is that the PS3 Nvidia demo in 2005 showed Spider-man CGI as the goal for movie quality shaded graphics the PS3 was intended to match. The PS3 even used Spider-man font.
Plus having WebShooters means he doesn't have to worry about reloading or if a villian crushes his hand it will hurt but not be stopped becuase he can shoot webs for as Much as he wants

No they don't. Raimi fanboys give it enough respect. I like the Raimi trilogy, but I HATE the community of people who also like it. Well Andrew is shown to be more aggressive/agile with his swinging in tsam2
I personally think Andrew had better swinging as he much more agile and acrobatic with it. However Tobey’s swinging scenes are definitely enhanced by the god-tier soundtrack

It's incredible how this scene, made in 2001/2002, has a better CGI than a lot of scenes in the current Spider Man MCU movies.
I was born in the Year 2000 and things have change alot in the past two decades also when New York used to be cheaper now its all expensive
Yeah I know
0:23 when Tobey Maguire comes to save Andrew and Tom in No way home and does not have to worry about reloading webs .
Also Danny Elfman's score is still the best Spiderman soundtrack ever written and singlehandedly lifts this scene above the rest.

that's because in the MCU's spiderman doesn't have any visual weight to it IMO it's fluid and focuses on stylishness rather than majesticness In Raimi's there's visual weight even when we don't experience the swinging we can feel the weight and the pressure that each swinging motion does to the body, the muscle stretches and bends and i guess it's also thanks how the swinging scenes were filmed and plus the motion blurs was really good which emphasizes not only the speed but the weight.

If Goblin had a little more screen time, SM1 would be in the same position as SM2 in quality (but both are great movies!). But SM is my favorite
Different strokes. 1 is the perfect comic book film honestly, an excellent origin story, and is super iconic. 2 is definitely more of a character drama disguised as a superhero blockbuster. 2 is just so well built up, well made, and has amazing thematic structure. Spiderman I and II were the only movies that successfully portrayed the character accurately, down to the iconic music, and the "thought balloons" going on in Peter's head. this scene alone is better than homecoming
The whole movie is better than homecomimg
