    Just came from a meeting where the facilitator said I could become an instructional designer and here I am. I love this and think it's something I need to pursue.

    I am an online/offline ESL instructor and I used to design my syllabi so I used to have my own deliverables. How would that even overlap with instructional design? and what would you advise me to learn to become an instructional designer? Adobe captivate or Articulate Storyline 360 or K 12 management system skills?
    I am landing on this channel for the first time btw. Thanks for the great content

    Thank you! That's a great video! I figured out that I did tasks related to instructional design without realizing that this discipline even exists, and now I'm thinking about testing my skills by applying to the instructional design positions.

    Hey Devlin! How's it going? Thanks for sharing about what instructional design is. I currently want to change my career path and came across this field and therefore your channel 😅It seems a pretty interesting career for me but I'm afraid I don't have any teaching or training background. I'm an industrial designer. However, since I got my degree I've worked as a Social Media manager. I found myself stuck in the job and discovered I don't like it😭, so I want to try something new. Do you have any advice for getting into this field? Sorry if my message turned so long! Thanks in advance.

    Hey Devlin, fantastic video - My question is what transferable skills does learning Instructional Design give to other professions if I dont land a job in ID?

    • @DevlinPeckYT
      @DevlinPeckYT  2 года назад +1

      Thanks so much! Glad that your'e enjoying the content :D. And there are so many: tech skills, communication skills, writing / storytelling skills, knowledge of how people learn (can make you a better teacher, manager, mentor, boss, etc). But if you focus on the right things then you will def land a job in ID!

    I need to know what competencies and skills of instructional design we have to follow as teachers. Two things skills and competencies I would emphasize if I would apply instructional design with my content I teach. so which direction Can I use ? the first one , a international standards as following (IBSTPI -ACET ATD) that show the skills and comptenses . Second , there are some researchers tend to get the skills from ADDLE Model , and the competences from their experiences . So my question is which direction I have to use ?.

    Hi Devlin,
    I’m an elementary teacher, specializing in Kindergarten. How do I transfer my skills to an ID position?

    • @DevlinPeckYT
      @DevlinPeckYT  2 месяца назад

      Hey! You'll want to show that you can solve real-world problems for adult learners using the industry standard tools and incorporating basic design elements.
      The best way to do that (and bridge the gap) is through a portfolio. I have some examples on my website (check out the showcase) or we have a playlist on the YT channel to give you a sense of what to include:

    Hello Devlin, I find this course very educational. I am currently a student at Liberty University for Instructional Design with Technology Major. Do you have any tips or ideas that you can share to help beginners in the field improve the skills necessary to be effective in the profession?

    • @DevlinPeckYT
      @DevlinPeckYT  7 месяцев назад

      Glad the videos are helpful :) I would suggest getting started with applying the theory as soon as you can. Identify a real-world problem and then come up with effective learning solution to solve it. And you can use a tool like Articulate Storyline to build out that solution, even better!

    Hello Devlin. I'm wondering how you go about the use of analysis and making sense of data in your ID work. Do you have a video about this already? Also, thanks for everything you do for the community.

      Hi Thomas! Great question. I have a "data-driven eLearning design" video, but not one specifically about working with data during the analysis phase (I have more general analysis videos, though). Good suggestion and thank you for asking about this!
