A live performance, no studio enhancements. No auto-tune, no remixing. Just pure amazing talent. Almost 60 years later, and Bobbie is still making beautiful women melt.
Bob Hatfield has been dead for quite some time. Bill Medley is still with us.
@@zunbake3 He means his music, not him personally lol
I made this 69.
The gorgeous lady with the smooth black hair - are you married?
Back when talent was a requirement for being on television.
Older music has passion- it actually means something.
NO ONE absolutely NO ONE has sang this song better than Bobby Hatfield. Best live performance in history.
I miss music like this so much. No vulgarity and no promotion of bad behavior. Music back then had class, elegance, and beauty. It sounds so refined. A moment of soft vulnerability is captured here in this song that speaks to the soul. A talented vocalist singing from his heart directly to yours. I wish people would still make music like this.
OMG the late Bobby Hatfield! I was 15 years old when I watched him sing this beautiful song on the Andy Williams show in 1965. He owns this song, and no one sang it better than he did. RIP Bobby! We miss your beautiful voice! ❤️ ❤️❤️
This is an example of what we now seniors then called “blue eyed soul” !
first time i ever seen anyone laugh listening to this.......one of the greatest live vocals ever
Yeah, like WTF ????
I know. I couldn't believe it when she said it was funny. Wtf?? 🤦♀️
It annoyed me, one of the greatest songs ever and they laugh....wtf!
The heart and soul of the 60s. My father played with them for over 40 year. Nobody can harmonize like Bobby Hatfield could. He left his 2 beautiful kids behind. RIP bobby
One little correction to your great comment. Bobby had 4 children.
@@alrightbal9190 I only grew up with Dustin and Valen.
@@mikewissman9491 that's terrific that you knew the younger two of Bobby's kids! Have you stayed in touch with them at all?
Sometimes laughter is a way to cover up the feelings you are having. A grown woman might have appreciated the heart felt emotions expressed by a man for the woman he loves. A couple of girls might sense what is being expressed and to avoid reacting to the amazing delivery of those feelings in song, they giggle and laugh to cover up whatever feelings the song might have evoked. I think we have watched not so much a reaction to a song as much as we have watched a couple of girls avoid revealing anything about themselves. I think this video thing is just a little too big for you girls.
did annoy me laughing like that
I guess that's a very nice way of saying you found their reactions underwhelming.
This was an outstanding performance that they couldn't fully appreciate for whatever reason.
@@Howdyall They simply are not mature enough to to take the risk of feeling the emotion this song arouses in most people. If you do, you feel vulnerable, it transports you to a moment you may never have experienced of missing someone you truly love and are aching and afraid you may have lost them. These are girls. They are afraid of talking about these emotions
@@MrMacky-co6zn Nah. you guys are just from a different era. Girls nowadays are soulless.
You have no idea.
Although I feel like the girl on the right felt it, and her friend was making her laugh
The greatest performance in history .
This song definitely reflects the time. To long for her touch. ❤... I imagine the woman was not a loud aggressive boss type who'd probably laugh at the man for expressing himself so sweet and humbly. If the majority of women today were feminine and friendly, we'd still be hearing ballads like this regularly.
Just stumbled upon your channel in my feed. Listening to y’all’s reaction objectively just makes me feel good. Keep up the good work. 6:45
How interesting to hear someone blame women because men don't sing about love to them any more. Every woman I've seen react to this performance for the first time shows me that women are starving for this kind of sentiment.
Modern culture tells both sides to settle for less.
💯٪
Most often our behavior dictates how we're treated.
It does help to the speak the language of women and both of them knew how
It's ROMANTIC! There's no romance in today's music. There is another member. Check out " You've lost that lovin feeling" . It has both guys.
Music back then was sexy in a romantic way. No flashing lights, dancers, auto tune, just pure talent and a microphone. You've heard this song if you've ever watched the movie GHOST.
There’s tons of romance in today’s music! It’s even got its own genre. It’s called “f***in’ music.”
this is bobby hatfield performing this song solo because it is a solo song. you should check out bobby hatfield doing "summertime"
Bobby,...melting hearts and making girls blush from 1965....
He is only 1/2 of the Righteous Bros act. Listen to "You've lost that Lovin' Feeling" by both of them! They were known in my day as "The Blue Eyed Soul Brothers"...unofficially. Their name was given to them by a huge following of Blacks who called their act "Righteous!" (A saying back in the day, like "Cool")
Word! Thank you 😭 I was so confused!
8 out of 10..... are you kidding me ?... thats a 10+ any day of the week forever
This is one of the most beautiful ballads ever written. Not the cheap sh*t we got today. Everything was made in 1 take. There were classy gentlemen and classy women compared to nowadays Zoomers..
You mean WAP ain't a beautiful ballad? LOL!
@@rayray-xs6xu Rest my case 🤣
Well said!
8 out of 10?
Just wait until you've done 100's of these and broken free from the contemporary sounds of your time.
Come back and see what you think.
His partner, Bill Medley is the deeper voiced and you can see them both on "You've Lost That Loving Feeling"' and "Soul and Inspiration". They were guests on a show in the 60s called The Andy Williams Show, another great singer. From time to time they both did solos. They got their name when a group of black Marines, after seeing their act, yelled out that was Righteous and the name stuck!
Also I want to make Love to you. ... 8? 8.5? Smh.
But this is Bobby Hatfield. Not Bill Medley.
Actually, the story is that this marine, in appreciation, loudly exclaimed, “That's righteous, bother!”
His beautiful sound was known in the 60's as "blue-eyed soul". His voice draws out emotions now, almost 60 years later, as much as it did then. Your reaction is priceless!!!
Your insight into how times have changed was brilliant.
That was a year before this old man was born. Peace, Love!!
This is a vocal masterclass... Bobby Hatfield is arguably the greatest male vocalist of all time... He had it all, the looks, the voice, and effortlessly cool... Aspiring singers should watch this performance because there was no auto tuning, no cues, nothing but raw talent... Not even Elvis had his vocal range... Thee only other person with a voice of an angel was Karen Carpenter.... Never will we hear vocals like this again. This is a fluke of nature that only ever happens once... Listening to this song is a privilege... PERFECTION 👌
Amazing song!
The song was written in 1955 for a pretty mediocre movie called Unchained. It was about a prisoner pining away for his wife. It has been recorded by many artists (including Elvis), but Bobby's rendition takes the cake and this particular live recording is by far the best. The song was used in the movie Ghost, but it didn't have that "to the moon" ending this version has.
That moon ending as you state was maybe the biggest shock that made many a person wonder where this song came from, it had the WOW factor.
Bobby was one of the two Righteous Brothers who sang many songs that hit the charts like You've lost that loving feeling and Soul and Inspiration and even You'll never walk alone. Check out My Prayer and Summertime for a couple of Bobby's solos.
If this is a 8 out of 10...cannot wait to see a 10 which is what I would have given this. Modern music by men treats women with less respect and admiration. This song shows admiration, respect and meaning for a loving relationship between a man and woman with quality music.
This video is from a TV show, the Andy Williams Show from 1965. I actually saw this live back then. There's another version of this same video where the host, Andy Williams, talks with both 'brothers' before Bobby goes out to sing this. Back when this came out, the only place to get music was at home on your record player, the radio, or watching these shows on TV. Old school performers like Williams, Bobby Darin, even Lawrence Welk showcased new talent which got radio stations to play their music. Toward the end of the 60's, these shows began to fade away and be replaced by more contemporary music variety shows like The Sonny and Cher Show, the Midnight Special, Soul Train, etc. If you want to see and hear a piece of what my generation listened to, I suggest you look through the archives for performances from the Midnight Special and Soul Train. You will not be disappointed. Thanks for your reaction, I love watching young folks get exposed to the music that I (and your grandparents!) grew up with.
Things are so different? There's this year's understatement.
Wonderful! AMAZING !!!
GIRLS, CAN YOU BELIEVE A PERFORMANCE LIKE THIS FROM BOBBY HATFIELD BACK IN 1965. THIS PERFORMANCE IS WHAT WE NOW CALL "X-FACTOR PLUS"
BY THE WAY, BOBBY HATFIELDS STUDIO VERSION WAS IN THAT FAMOUS FILM "GHOST" STARRING PATRICK SWAYZE AND DEMI MOORE AND WHOOPIE GOLDBERG.
THIS ICONIC SONG WENT NO 1 IN THE USA
Yes, listen to both Righteous Brothers singing "You've Lost That Loving Feeling"'. There is no sound like the two of them together.
Thank you, FYI his mother was in the audience for this performance.
No way!! That’s awesome🤍
You are right. In my day, many decades ago, we spoke TO WOMEN. Now men speak AT WOMEN!
Yours was an accurate (but sad) commentary on the lack of respect for today's young women by today's young men. It doesn't have to be that way. Take it from Aretha Franklin: R.E.S.P.E.C.T.
I've watched reaction videos of other black ladies that have reviewed this video and they are melting 😍 over his voice and the lyrics, you can see there temperature rising, 🌡if you know what I mean 🤠
Voice is timeless
alot better then the music today
I remember hearing this song in the 60s. I've always loved it. The song was highlighted in the 1990 movie Ghost starring Patrick Swayze, Whoopi Goldberg and Demi Moore.
Bobby Hatfield, whose the upper harmonies of the pop-soul duo the Righteous Brothers, died In January 2004, in a hotel Kalamazoo, Mich. He was 63 . The initial autopsy found that Hatfield had advanced coronary disease. RIP Bobby, you are missed
Glad you are learning about whst we grew up with..
There were 2 'brothers' (not actual bros), but only 1 in this performance, Bobby Hatfield. He and Bill Medley both sang "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" made famous AGAIN, in the movie "Top Gun".
I find it funny that people walk around with their pants around there ankles while repeating nursery rhymes
Loved your reaction ladies!
Bobby was 25 years old on this video in 1965.
The song was from a prison movie , "Unchained" made in 1955. It's a prisoner wondering if his girl will still be waiting for him when he's released.
Many artists have covered this song, but I think Bobby owns it! Thanks!
Men were different then because women were different then.
Absolutely.
I am 59 and yes the Music, and time aspects are so different. Even music like Diana Ross and the Shirelles/Motown was so different.
Great reaction. As the Buggles told us... "Video Killed the Radio Star" !! Keep it up !!
You have to listen to you’ve lost that loving feeling by them! It has them both! It’s GREAT!
Unfortunately gen z's have no idea what music really sounds like.
Pretty good? 8 out of 10?
It's called talent, you had to have it back then.
The song came from the movie, "Unchained' in 1955, a 'prison' movie.
There were many hit versions that year of the song in 1955.The highest charing version on the pop charts, #3, was by Al Hibbler..ruclips.net/video/DjiA5RzosEY/видео.html
At the same time in 1955, Roy Hamilton's version made it to #1 in the R&B charts, and #6 in the pop charts. The Righteous Brother's version is based on Roy's arrangement.

He was dealing with a cold during this performance but gave it his all because his parents were in the audience.
A man who has been dead nearly 20 years is still making women swoon with a song recorded 58 years ago.
It's ok to cry, means it touched your heart and sooul.
Now we know how a man at war yearns and hopes that this girl at home will wait for him.
Personally, I think the people reacting to this or laughing, very silly and a beautiful song that doesn’t require laughter. It requires hearing it.
The problem with the way they talk about women today, is you women let them talk up to you that way. You buy the music you listen to it, so they’re going to keep on doing it. I’m 64 years old would never talk to him that way.
The origin of this song:
A 1955 movie called "Unchained," about a prisoner hoping his lover will still remember him when he gets out.
there are 2 in the group but sometimes they both do solos sometime , see the together checkout (YOUV'LL LOST THAT LOVING FEELING) BOTH SING IN THAT ONE
That was called the blue eyed soul back then
Gen Z gonna find out! No auto tune! pure talent
8, 8.5? I dare you to find a better live performance. The talent he had, and to showcase it live as well as he did? Cmon if this isn't a 10 than show me a live performance with no auto tune or enhancements better than this.
Being in my 60's I know what you mean about how men talk/treat women. The sad truth is that we've been going through an era where men treating women like ladies has become looked at as not treating women as equals. Telling a woman she looks nice or pretty nowadays is pretty much unacceptable behavior. What a shame. Maybe your generation will work on changing that.
This is my all time favorite rendition of Unchained Melody. Prior to this, I really like two 1955 versions, one by Al Hibbler and one by Roy Hamilton. You need to check those two out yourselves. They were both baritones....
The Righteous Brothers were a duo: Bobby Hatfield and Bill Medley.
... "Unchained Melody" was recorded by ... The Righteous Brothers for Philles Records in 1965.
The lead vocal was performed s̲o̲l̲o̲ by Bobby Hatfield ...
According to Bill Medley, the other Righteous Brother, they (The Righteous Brothers) had agreed to do one solo piece per album.
Both wanted to sing "Unchained Melody" for their fourth album, but Bobby Hatfield won the coin toss.

You might want to sample "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" and "Soul and Inspiration" to hear both singers' talents showcased.
The Righteous Brother is 2 guys, but this particular song happens to be a solo. They got their name one night when they were performing at an audience full of black military men, when at the end of the show someone called out, "that's righteous brothers!" and they liked the sound of that.
Is it really music now? Or is it different?
Music is always evolving as new techniques and technologies are incorporated. However, autotune will never give anyone goosebumps.
Love your reaction, comments most of all the shirt with Jesus Saves
Yeah, the quality for 1965 was amazing, we'd only just stopped using stone and chisels to write with 🙂
😂😂😂😂
The Andy Williams Show-
Episode #4.5
Episode aired Oct 25, 1965
- [ ]
Robert Lee Hatfield (August 10, 1940 - November 5, 2003) Bobby Hatfield, who had a higher counter tenor voice to Bill Medley’s, William Thomas Medley (born September 19, 1940) baritone, sang lead on this track. It was his idea to record it, since Medley and Hatfield were each allowed to choose a song to sing as a solo vocalist on their albums. As Medley tells it, Hatfield knew the song well, and was a big fan of the Roy Hamilton and Al Hibbler versions of the song.
*In Nov. 2003 Hatfield died of a heart attack at age 63.
The Righteous Brothers version was a huge hit, but it was recorded with far more modest expectations. Phil Spector considered it album filler and released it as a B-side. The single had "Unchained Melody," with no producer credit on the label, as the flip to Gerry Goffin and Carole King's "Hung on You," but many DJs preferred "Unchained Melody" and played that one instead. This infuriated Spector, who subsequently left no doubt (actually calling DJs telling them to play “Hung On You” not “Unchained Melody “)as to which side of a Philles single was the A-side.
* The famous climax of this song where Bobby Hatfield sings the high "I need your love" line wasn't how the song was written. In an interview with Bill Medley, he explained that Hatfield did two takes of the song, then left. He would often reconsider his performance and come back later to change it, and that's what he did on this track, returning to ask Medley if he could make an edit. This was no easy task, since with a maximum of four tracks to work with, you had to record over part of the original take, but Medley accommodated and Hatfield delivered that soaring vocal line. Said Medley: "I punched that in and he left. He said, 'No, I can do it better.' And I said, 'No, you can't.' [Laughs] And I think it's a big part of that song."
* This was released on Philles Records, Phil Spector's label. Spector, known for his "Wall Of Sound" technique, did not produce this - Bill Medley did. In a 2007 statement to the Forgotten Hits newsletter, Medley said: "You have to remember that I was producing our stuff before Phil Spector... I mean I produced 'Little Latin Lupe Lu,' 'My Babe' and all that stuff. Then when we went with Phil, Phil asked me if I would produce the albums because it was too time consuming for him to produce the entire albums. So he was going to do the singles and I would do the album. And so that's how that happened and that's how I produced 'Unchained Melody,' which Phil Spector apparently now takes credit for. He can have the credit. And I'm not a producer. I know how to produce. But it's obviously not a Spector production. 'Unchained Melody' was never intended to be the single... it was produced to be on the album. It was put on the B side of a Phil Spector single 'Hung On You' and the minute it was released 'Unchained Melody' just went through the roof."
Hatfield’s rendition of “Unchained Melody” although not the original, is the ‘gold standard’.
It's insanely gorgeous and lovely.
Modern women are completely and utterly different than the women of this era. The songs that men make now are reflective of the quality of modern day women by and large.
Shout out to the wheat thins crew.
Modern women (not all) are disgusting. On stage they're nearly naked and vulgar. Zero self respect.
Women lost some things and gained some from the feminist movement, I grew up through it and watched the changes in society, is it better or worse, I don't know, seems more chaotic today.
So different from how men talk now - so different from what women are willing to accept nowadays.

It's sad that you guys haven't experienced music like this growing up but I guess it's a sign of the times. Please check out the rest of their music and some 80's & 90's R&B groups like New Edition, Ready For The World, The Deele, Jodeci, Troop, Hi-Five & Keith Sweat.
10.
This was used in the poetry scene between Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze
in the movie Ghost
I think you mean "pottery" scene 😅😅
There are 2 in group. They are not brothers. This song was sang by Bobby. The other member is Bill. They were huge in the 60's. And it's pure voice. No auto-tune or gimmicks. Listen to their song, (" You're my Soul and inspiration ") and (" You Lost that loving Feeling ") It's so good.
Back in the mid 2000s I was a producer for the Tom Joyner Morning Show. One morning their subject was white musical artists you paid to see. People were calling in with all sorts of groups and bands, and someone said The Righteous Brothers and Tom said "They're not white, they're Black. They got too much soul." Cracked me up, but he wasn't wrong lol.
This is something gen.Z never will be able to understand called REAL talent.
Great song
You should check out The Good, The Bad and The Ugly by The Danish National Orchestra.
I found this reaction kind of disrespectful but at least they liked the song
If you want a guy that represents this song wait for love, marriage, and the sex will follow... and whatever you do don`t settle and give up, wait for that good guy who is waiting for you. Peace and brother love to you.
Well I don’t appreciate the Laughters !! Was NOT appropriate. Only one person but am going to reevaluate my watching you girls
Back when women didn’t shit on men and fuck with them… that’s why they sing there hart to them.
You put that lying picture of yourselves tearing up on the video picture as you both act like your 12 or 13 years old watching this, you should be ashamed of yourselves.
They call it "Blue-Eyed Soul".
Because you allow it.
What was so funny, he had a beautiful voice. Kind of embarrassing watching you two.
Real one of many coo jams
8? Ignorance is bliss to some.
Got to react to "You've lost that loving feeling" If you thought this was good that will blow you away
If you listened to the lyrics you'd know it was about a man who had spent time in prison and was waiting to touch her again and praying she would wait for him. God speed your love... to me.
Check out "Dion - the wanderer". If you're looking for a song about a man using a bunch of women in the 60s.
