yeah, but you could also get the Ryzen 5 8600G for a lot cheaper and just slightly less performance. With the intel setup, you can't upgrade that. But with the AMD setup, you can easily pop in a future X3D CPU without changing the motherboard and add a GPU too. Literally what I did with my current setup.
Seems there's a pretty drastic difference between titles using DX12/vulkan and titles using DX11, in the former the performance is on par but in the latter the difference is large.
These are fake numbers. Check TechYesCity and GN's reviews. The 8700g's is at least 40% slower than the 1060. I cannot believe how many people this guy has already brainwashed.
Good results for integrated GPU. But the GTX 1060 proves why it has been at the top on Steam for long periods of time in the past. In terms of performance per watt, it was a great card for its time.
Actually strix halo will have 4070 super performance, it won't be available as a desktop socketable cpu though. That should be out later this year or early next year.
in 5 years they might match the gtx1080. and an igpu with 4060ti performance in 5 years wouldnt be great eitherway it would be 2 to 3 gens behind still. since by that time 60 or 70 series might be out.

I just looked at the tech yes city review comparing the 8600g/8700g to the 1060 and none of the games were the same ones being benchmarked in this video, so i have no idea how you came to that conclusion of this benchmark video being fake. and plus the benchmark on that video have some games that are similar percentage wise with this video, for example in tech yes city benchmark balders gate 3 and fortnite at 1080p low had a 25 to 30 percent difference between the 8700g and gtx 1060, and in this video , starfield and avatar had a similar percentage difference. obviously it will vary a lot game to game though depending on how optimized the game is for older or newer architecture.
About 2 years ago I built a system centered around the 5700G. I built the system for a lady that mainly used it for data storage and very mild gaming. The 5700G had some good reviews around that time. But this 8700G is impressive to me, while running side by side with one of the most popular budget GPU's. AMD is not too far away from a mid-range solution.
It's clear that the 8700G is being held back considerably in some games by the RAM's bandwidth. It may not be practical, but using DDR5-7200 or higher would result in at least 20% better performance than what we saw here.

The 65w 8700g + rx780m seems to be about on par with the 50w gtx 1650 g6 on laptops. A 45w rtx 4050 + 25w ryzen 7 7840hs would double the rx780m's performance, if not more, and the 25w 7840hs wouldn't be far off the 8700g's CPU perf. The 1060 also doesn't support a lot of the newer features as well, so thats probably why in older titles it has larger leads.

Back when it launched in 2016, the GTX 1060 was a card that can play everything on high settings at FHD and even QHD in some cases! The 1000 series in overall were a big leap compared to the 900 and it will probably be the only mistake NVIDIA will make in launching GPUs at a decent price. Personally, I think that the 1060 was the best from the lines in terms of price/performance and it was also the most used in gaming setups until a few years back. I jumped back then from a 9800 GT to a GTX 1060 (ASUS Turbo version) and I was blown away when I launched The Witcher 3 at 3440 x 1440 and it ran fluently. It stings me a bit now to see it on par with an APU, but technology must evolve so it will remain in my memories (and collection) as one of the best cards for its time.

@@mesicek7 I have also checked TechYesCity and RandomGaminginHD's (R7 7840HS) reviews as well as Daniel Owen's one on the R7 7940HS. The latter CPU seems to be closer to the 1060. I can't be 100% sure whether it is fake or not, but what is certain is that APUs are getting closer to its relative performance and this variant beats at least the GTX 1050 Ti in most recent titles. Drivers could also be the reason as to why this is true, but it is what it is.
Great job! And clearly impressive performance from this iGPU, especially considering the bandwidth constraints compared to a dedicated GPU with 192bit memory bus. However, unless you can get an APU with 780M graphics for no more than 200€, these products are completely redudant for most gamers. Maybe if you're going for a SFF system, but for anyone willing to go even a little bit larger, any cheap 4/6 core CPU with a RX6600 class card will do a much, much better job.

You can really see how cpu TDP numbers are just a blatant lie these days. Cooling nearly twice the heat output with even a good tower cooler seems like a problem. Aside from the 4000 series, it looks like power draw numbers really haven't improved much in the last decade.
Based on newegg price, an r5 5600 + rx 6600 will cost you $14 cheaper than the r7 8700g. And the combo will give you more performance too. But if you built a super tiny compact miniscule small pc with no room for a discrete gpu, the r7 8700g is the best option for your build
Good video. Sad to see the 120W at the 8700G. You are using the same CPU. So I can see how much engery the Graphics on this APU needs. In Cyberpunk for example about 40W. In Avatar and GTA about 55W. Overall the "old" PC needs about 1/3 more energy and is about 1/4 faster. The APU is not as efficient as I thought. Also a big disadvantages of the iGPUs is the bad optimization in some games. Look at GTA5.
you're wrong about the power consumtion. Also it's new APU so you need to wait until it get better optimization. that chip is the same as used in ROG ally. Example: on 1060 side you need to adds cpu+gpu, but on igpu side its only 1 of them cpu or gpu it's tdp compltely the same, just repeated.
@@lzMzl on the indicator of using APU, you can see the TDP, example cpu 115W and gpu 114W, actually that only consumes 115W, not 115+114, that was only repeated/duplicated info. but on discrete graphic you must add cpu and gpu since both of them physically different
Ryzen 8700g has 65W TDP, although it is normal to expect divergences from this value, the power draw value shown here is too off to not raise suspicion.

I think there is already reviews with amd gpu near same perf as 4060 and its not pretty for 8700g if it remember right edit: had a look it was i3 12100f with rx 6500 xt and they had 6600 as well which rx6600 is 20% slower then a 4060 and they were 2x higher fps over 8700. you can get away cheaper with i3/rx6500 since you don't need higher speed mem that 8700g needs due to shared mem.
Fun fact.. this iGPU offers better graphics than the PS4... It's incredible how fast technology evolves. I'm sure in 6-7 years we will have PS5 performance in an iGPU.
I'm taking 50-55 fps on Alan wake II with my 1650 super at 1080p low resolution. I wonder how this 1060 6gb takes 12 fps on this game. It seems ridicilous I dont know.
The resulation and the graphics setting of game is low. So sometimes at low setting the graphics cant produce much fps.if the graphics setting would high then the gtx would easily produce 70+ fps whether the redeon 780m wouldnt get more than 20 fps.but see, everyone is thinking that the redeon 780 is better than gtx 1060. But the reality is gtx is 5x better than the igpu of ryzen
On DX12 gaming 780M looks similar performance compare to GTX 1060, even better in some game. But on older DX11 game, GTX 1060 better, still 780M has good performance
Nah I need my CUDA and tensor cores, Nvidia or nothing right now. I think the new AMD apu is very solid for a budget gaming build, a young gamer could manage with no GPU needed
I didnt expect 1060 that got demolished by an apu in alan wake 2 and not mention that igpu can use frame generation in that game and FSR. FSR cant help the 1060 in Alan wake 2.

The same. This is the same chip as in the ROG Ally and it performs 90% with only 35W total.

Great job! And clearly impressive performance from this iGPU, especially considering the bandwidth constraints compared to a dedicated GPU with 192bit memory bus. However, unless you can get an APU with 780M graphics for no more than 200€, these products are completely redudant for most gamers.
Maybe if you're going for a SFF system, but for anyone willing to go even a little bit larger, any cheap 4/6 core CPU with a RX6600 class card will do a much, much better job.
Would be great if you tested this on Esport Titles since most people buying this APU would probably be using it for Esport Titles
in 5 years we'll' have an APU perfoming like a RTX3060

Cooling nearly twice the heat output with even a good tower cooler seems like a problem.

Based on newegg price, an r5 5600 + rx 6600 will cost you $14 cheaper than the r7 8700g. And the combo will give you more performance too.
But if you built a super tiny compact miniscule small pc with no room for a discrete gpu, the r7 8700g is the best option for your build

Good video. Sad to see the 120W at the 8700G. You are using the same CPU. So I can see how much engery the Graphics on this APU needs. In Cyberpunk for example about 40W. In Avatar and GTA about 55W. Overall the "old" PC needs about 1/3 more energy and is about 1/4 faster. The APU is not as efficient as I thought. Also a big disadvantages of the iGPUs is the bad optimization in some games. Look at GTA5.
you're wrong about the power consumtion. Also it's new APU so you need to wait until it get better optimization. that chip is the same as used in ROG ally.
Example: on 1060 side you need to adds cpu+gpu, but on igpu side its only 1 of them cpu or gpu it's tdp compltely the same, just repeated.

@@lzMzl on the indicator of using APU, you can see the TDP, example cpu 115W and gpu 114W, actually that only consumes 115W, not 115+114, that was only repeated/duplicated info. but on discrete graphic you must add cpu and gpu since both of them physically different

I think there is already reviews with amd gpu near same perf as 4060 and its not pretty for 8700g if it remember right
edit: had a look it was i3 12100f with rx 6500 xt and they had 6600 as well which rx6600 is 20% slower then a 4060 and they were 2x higher fps over 8700. you can get away cheaper with i3/rx6500 since you don't need higher speed mem that 8700g needs due to shared mem.

Fun fact.. this iGPU offers better graphics than the PS4... It's incredible how fast technology evolves. I'm sure in 6-7 years we will have PS5 performance in an iGPU.

I'm taking 50-55 fps on Alan wake II with my 1650 super at 1080p low resolution. I wonder how this 1060 6gb takes 12 fps on this game. It seems ridicilous I dont know.
The resulation and the graphics setting of game is low. So sometimes at low setting the graphics cant produce much fps.if the graphics setting would high then the gtx would easily produce 70+ fps whether the redeon 780m wouldnt get more than 20 fps.but see, everyone is thinking that the redeon 780 is better than gtx 1060. But the reality is gtx is 5x better than the igpu of ryzen
On DX12 gaming 780M looks similar performance compare to GTX 1060, even better in some game. But on older DX11 game, GTX 1060 better, still 780M has good performance

is the total consumption of the CPU + the IGPU, since the IGPU only consumes 15W

I didn't expect 1060 to demolish the apu that bad in GTA💀. Thought it would be max to max a 10 fps difference.
I didnt expect 1060 that got demolished by an apu in alan wake 2 and not mention that igpu can use frame generation in that game and FSR. FSR cant help the 1060 in Alan wake 2.

U most probably just can get a good gpu at that point. with a 5700g I've been playing league in qhd with no issue or noticable lag with all the lowest setting.
