It’s amazing and I enjoy how he shares with everyone giving and sharing his information . May he continue to shine, make it and realize all his dreams. God bless him and his family!
Hey Dexter! I'm a very new breeder in the United States and I watch almost all of your videos. Amazing work you're doing and thank you for all that you do!
Dexter you've done it. You have inspired me to take the jump. A few weeks back i bought a Koi female. i have a king male that i have had for about 3 months. he has made more bubble nests than any previous betta ive had. They are now being fed brine shrimp and daphnia (hard to keep misquitoes where i am). I am hoping the female will be egg bearing soon, she seems to be getting slightly larger in the belly area. just waiting for the egg spot to appear. There are 2 issues that i have not encountered but think may happen. one, i got them from a LFS so i am hoping they arent genetically ruined from inbreeding. and two, i hope the size of my king does not spooky my female. I spent a long time picking him out and he has some very very good genes so it seems. My end goal is a king koi male. Wish me luck master dexter! (ps i wont be doing this for another few weeks so if anyone has experience breeding kings any tips are nice!)
Though I have this terrible day and feel that I really need to rest already, I still opt to watch this. I don't only get to learn new things and get entertained, I also get INSPIRED! Maskin gusto na ko mugive up, kuya Dexter, ako na lang jud nuon ning ipush through ako goal. Total, my dreams aren't just for me but for the good of many, especially those children with special needs and marginalized; just like what you are doing, kuya. Salamat jud kaayo. I hope I could meet you or even just visit your shop, para makapasalamat ko sa imo kaayo sa uban ug sa ako. You can learn a lot to this video not just on how to breed the beta fish but also on showing love. I appreciate your kindness Sir. DOUBLE THUMBS UP 👍👍..
Have a nice day Dexter, I'm from Naga City and I've been watching your videos lately, and your videos were interesting and great, as I'm now inspired breeding aquarium fish and as well as now interested to put up our own pet shop business in the future as here in Naga City, there are only few pet shops who sells fish for aquariums, and most of them don"t have knowledge about breeding fish .Anyway I still have lots of things to learn from you about breeding fish. By the way I'm Jesus R. Guinhawa, 55 years old, I'm almost retired businessman because of my 2 sons who is now managing our business. Now I'm managing a dragon fruit farm which is only a hubby but now becomes a good business, as we still have lots of vacant space in the farm, I planned to put up ponds for breeding a koi fish, beta fish, guppies, and other tropical fish just to keep me busy to make life enjoyable, as now I have lots of spare time in the farm, and I think breeding fish will make me enjoy life just the way I see you enjoying your business... anyway from now on I'll be your avid subscriber and maybe your future friend as I'm interested to visit you in Zambuanga, maybe later time after this Covid Pandemic problems... So keep safe and stay healthy...
This videos inspired a lot of people and breeders. Will try to breed bettas again and will try my skills in breeding guppies and mollies as well. Thanks Dexter's World.
very humble yet very kind,... glad to see someone who knows how to share his blessings and is willing to give joy to others.. interesting humane and educational since I am also taking care of betta fish, betta fish, danios, mollies, hammerhead shark and kois in several tanks... appreciate whatever I learned today
Hi sir Dexter. Im a newbie in breeding betta fighting fish. I was insipred with your video, please continue doing a good job. I dont usually comment ng videos I watch but I was impressed with skills. keep it up sir.
It;s Indian almond tree bro and the brown coloration it produce is its tanin and it resemble the natural water habitat of the betta fish in the wild that is why they are stimulated to breed since the tanin of the Indian almond leaves mimic its natural habitat since bettas in the wild leaves in a densely planted area and the water is murky and darken with tanins from the rotten vegetations
Correct! These are brown water fish that prefer standing murky water in small pools. Most dead leaves have tannins in it but some are better than others for betta breeding. Put a few dead brown leaves in the tank but don't over do it. Old dead branches do the same thing.
you're right bro but Indian almond leaves are preferred because it will not deteriorate fast compared to other leaves that is why they are favorite choice of betta breeders

However, I'm concerned as it gets very cold here in Wisconsin so will I have issues breeding these fish? I hope to learn more watching your videos.
I am a 29 year old girl that runs 3 charities and an aquatic rescue that I fund, operate and maintain myself with rare volunteers because I live about and hour outside of the main city in Sunny Charleston, SC USA!! I have always had a passion for animals and fish and aquatic animals especially. I have been an entrepreneur my whole life sinceI knew what money actually meant in life and always knew how there were people and animals that werent as fortunate as I was. Growing up we were not rich by any means but I went to private schools with 2 younger sisters and lived in a suburb. Even though my classmates always had the newest name brand clothes and toys and lived in huge houses, I never felt jealous I did not have that because my parents worked hard for what we had and those kids who had all the fancy things didnt buy them...their parents did. I started selling lemonade in the summer and hot chocolate and coffee in the "winter" (We only have cool, HOT AND BOILING HOT HERE haha) but around the age of 5, I would put a small portion of that money in a piggy bank for savings, then a tiny bit in glass vase and when it filled up I would be able able to buy myself a fish or something for my fish, and I would put most of the money in a box under my bed and every so often I would either buy something to donate to the SPCA or give it to a charity of some kind or buy a toy for toy for totts or something like that. I suppose I have always known if you want something you have to have initiative to get it and the ultimate reward was always giving to someone or something less fortunate. I continued to make businesses and do the same thing throughout my life and I have been blessed even though some people would think I have been through a very hard life from childhood until I was 15 and was kicked out of my home because of family dissagrements. I have always found a way to get through. I AM TRULY INSPIRED BY THIS FAMILY! They seem to be doing a job that they are passionate about and extremely knowledgeable in their field and as a breeder of different aquatic animals as a hobby growing up starting at the age of 9 (so about 20 years now), I am truly impressed with how efficient their set up is and how they use what they have and it works like a dream without spending thousands of dollars on high tech equiptment and that is how I am 100% If I can make what I need or do something a different way that will work thats what I do. Aquariums and breeding aquatic animals was always just a hobby until the beginning of this year. For many many years, I worked a full time job making ok money but in lower middle class I suppose. After I paid my bills, put some money in savings I founded and self funded 3 charities for 5 years, volunteered at the theraputic riding horse stables across the river from my home that helped people with mental and physical disabilities, and was an active member of a few other charities, and a while back which seems like ages now I started taking in fish that people didnt want or were sick or had been placed in a tank with the wrong tankmates and were beat up and the owners like most people in that careless scenario of not doing their research wanted to toss the fish and just replace it with something different. My name was passed around this small town for a few years and to me it was a stress reliever to get to come home and care for the "unwanteds" as well as my own fish, shrimp, aquatic frogs, dwarf shrimp, snails and even clams. Before I knew it I was getting a couple of fish every week! I thought nothing of it. Until June of 2017 I was diagnosed with an exploded disc at the base of my neck from an injury of falling off my dock and then a subsequent car accident where I nearly lost my life but I put off going to the doctor and when the pain got unbareable I finally went and the mri revealed not only the exploded disc but also an inoperable tumor in my spinal cord right where the damaged disc was and after seeing 6 different surgeons, the consensus was the same. They wouldnt even operate to fix the disc which causes immense pain 24/7, because they felt the liability was too high and scar tissue from surgery could pose a high risk of the tumor growing faster and would cause me to be paralyzed from the shoulders down including my lungs. I was forced to quit my job working as an Executive Business Manager and Field Crew Supervisor of a thriving Land Surveying Company in December shortly before Christmas and am now on Unemployment/disability which barely puts food on my familys table not to mention it doesnt pay for a dime of the direct cell steroid injections and radiation therapy regiment I am currently facing. I knew I had to do something to keep my fish rescue going so I started breeding fish and neocardina shrimp and some other species of fish on a small scale and every penny of profit goes to keeping the rescue/sanctuary doors open. I was forced to get into the social media networking world which obviously brought in more rescues and maybe a couple dollars in donations a months which I am very greatful for as my rescue is privately funded and I knew that would happen until I have an established trust publicly with the communit. I dont make much profit with the fry I raise from my breeding fish and shrimp because they are common fish that sell for a few dollars at chain petstores. Seeing this video I was wondering if there was any way of purchasing some betas from this family or even some fry to raise. The best way to bring in funds for these fish that need care until they find forever homes or become permanent residents of my small sanctuary is to have quality stock and not only would I like to help a well deserving family with a few purchases is possible but also help on average the 200 fish that I care for that are surrenders (not including my own or the fry) until they find their forever homes. I am having to expand currently and transforming my 300 sqft workshop/art and jewlery studio/carpentry and upcycling shop, selling mostly everything that I cant use in some way for the rescue to make space and doing all the construction, electrical, plumbing, airline systems and tank racks myself. I am the only fish rescue within 300+ miles of Charleston, SC from what I can find and its probably more than that. I have had a family 4 hours away have a petstore ship me their fish because they had to move across country and knew the fish wouldnt survive the trip. I know this was a long message but I wanted to express the likemindedness of myself and this family and they are doing great things and great things will come to them and they will perservere one way or another, as will I. PLEASE LET ME KNOW ABOUT OBTAINING SOME OF THEIR FISH. I know they are in another country and may not ship but if there is any way to get a few breeding pairs of quality stock or even a dozen 3-4 week fry I would be very interested in supporting their business and they would be supporting mine. Now I have to go get my turkey baster and pull out however many platy fry one of my females had last night as I noticed her going into labor at last round feeding last night and she was in contractions in the guppy grass and hornwort and wouldnt eat a thing as she looked like the was about to burst!!! email me lowcountryaquaticsrescue@yahoo.com. If you ever have any fish that come in that you do not want to sell in your store please dont sell them as feeders or anything else send them my way as you would be surprised at what fish people decide to take home and make that fish their pride and joy for its whole life. (my rescue is completely nonprofit so I dont make a dime..I actually am in debt right now but its my passion and I will figure it out and I know if I keep giving to less forturnate animals as well as people that need my help, I will beat this tumor bump in the road and be back on my feet maybe running the first Tropical Fish Store and Adoption Center all in one! Any advise would be greatly appreciated! Keep up the amazing work!
