      @@diegoparra8178 This part belongs to extreme sports for drummers (conductor or not). Take a practice pad and try it - be consistent for 15 minutes, do subtle microscopic crescendo from the beginning to the end, and beside all that adjust to the orchestra "inperfections". That will teach you your "you know".

    I've always wondered how a drummer can keep up the same putter patter for so long. And amazed by that part alone. But the whole piece is grand. Iconic.

    Oh, these BEAUTIFUL young musicians! They sound SO good & they are so beautiful. I once was young , just like them. and I was filled with love of & for music, just like them. Now I am a very old man & I am STILL filled with love for music. I want to bring music to a frightened & hurting world. The world needs it so. When I hear these fine musician, I am filled with hope for our world. It is not too late! There is still hope... as long as there is a loving God in heaven & right here on Earth, then we can still make it into a thrillingly beautiful life forever! sincerely, John F. Phillips.

    In chronological order the melody is played by:
    flute
    clarinet
    bassoon
    E flat clarinet
    solo oboe d’amore (between the oboe and the English horn in pitch and tone)
    flute and muted trumpet
    tenor saxophone (not a usual inclusion in the orchestra but Ravel was a jazz fan)
    soprano saxophone
    French horn and celeste
    woodwinds
    trombone
    woodwinds
    then over to violins
    then the full orchestra

    • @FernMsTiri

      Thank you for that. I was thinking that was a soprano sax. Haven't heard one of those in an orchestra in years.

    One indicator of good intonation in the violins: they do not vibrato through the notes. They land exactly on the right point hold a brief white tone and begin a narrow vibrato. There are professional violinists three times their age that can"t do this. Musicians of this caliber are a joy to conduct.

    • @theredrobin9402
      @theredrobin9402 4 года назад +3

      NowI'mMe it’s “torturous” because of the orchestral setting! In concert halls especially (unless this was performed in a particularly good hall) sound is always bouncing back in multiple directions, at different speeds. And the conductor’s aural perception might be different from the percussionist’s and each member’s. Even if it was a good hall that mitigated these problems, playing repetitively that long together with such a large group of musicians is really hard on the mind. Not because it’s technically hard, but because after a while the drummer might begin to doubt themselves. Beyond that, the orchestra might have minor tempo imperfections that can sway the drummer. There’s no backing click track here! And the drummer must microscopically crescendo all the while. Fortunately it seems that the orchestra here is doing a good job of watching the conductor and sticking to time. And the pianissimo section is really hard to keep relaxed and nice-sounding. Drummer did a wonderful job

    • @theredrobin9402
      @theredrobin9402 4 года назад +1

      NowI'mMe also wow not sure if i’m seeing things...? But i’m half-sure there is another snare drummer in the back playing the exact same thing, exactly in sync. That must have been one great hall. Or a dry as heck one. If there really were two, the torture and difficulty just went up two notches

    Orkiestra symfoniczna to dla mnie przyjemność nie tylko dla ucha lecz i dla oka. Jako osoba kompletnie nie muzykalna, jestem pełen podziwu dla wszystkich muzyków, którzy jak w szwajcarskim zegarku odgrywają swoje role. Zgranie i precyzja robi wrażenie. Szacunek dla bębniarza (nie wiem, czy to właściwa nazwa), który przez cały utwór minut trzyma tempo niczym robot. Niesamowite. Jesteście niesamowici. Wielkie brawa.

      It is certainly a great physical effort and mental concentración. You can, and he did it.

И респект Морису Равелю за такую бесконечную инструментальную импровизацию. Спасибо музыкантам за серьёзный подход к этому на первый взгляд простому, но в сущности Не простому музыкальному произведению! Желаю всему коллективу дальнейших успехов!

    Smart decision on keeping the snare in front. Keeps him more in tempo with the conductor. If he was in the back with the rest of the percussion he would be slightly behind which would also mean the rest of the band would be slightly behind.
