Dude, awesome cover. How do you do the screeching noise at the start? it seems like you're using a pedal to do it :)

Yeah, when Keeler does it it's the older 4001's PickUps feedback. I'd wager that the whirling sound also has something to do with his Stereo Chorus pedal bouncing the signal between two amps.
Since i don't have the exact same set up, my feedback just sounds like a steady screech (can be seen in the Do It cover video briefly). So instead i used my Boss DSD-2 to sample a pick-slide and then toyed with the settings to get a similar sound. It's not exact but it works.

this is a really good cover. I'm pretty sure the beginning screeching noise comes from touching the strings to the pickups.

      Thanks
And thats an interesting theory. I'll have to give it a try.
In most of the videos, it looks like it's mostly feedback as he aims the pick-ups towards the amp. Though there are also videos where he just does a pick slide to fill in the space.

JFK's amp is providing the feedback, but the oscillation is caused by his Ibanez CS-9 Pedal. You can adjust the frequency with the rate knob on the CS-9. Put your pickups next to the cab and screech away!
(Edit: I have both a Super Festival F800 and a CS-9 and screech the fuck out of myself on accident all the time).

All Death From Above 1979 songs i know i learnt by ear and play in standard tuning instead of the C Standard Tuning JFK uses. Sometimes i change little bits here and there to accomodate my playing style
