Awesome! I just bought my first pitcher plant, a Nepenthes x Miranda. Love at first sight and had to have her. Seeing your setup and the Hamatas is inspiring. I may have caught the bug, sorta speak.
Great video! 👍. Looks like I will be repotting my 2 year old hamata soon. Thought I could go till signs of grumpy nepenthes but will not wait on these guys with your information. Thank you very much
@icecorebaby Please don't, it didn't work. I didn't provide the nightly drops, and the consequences were immediate. Though, if you can provide the nightly drops, then I think it's possible.
Looking incredible Brad. I wish I could grow Hamata like you. Love that BE clone. Would u be able to still bring in one of those for me? Does BE still sell it?
2 years latter but anyway : I don't know if its necessary... I have one in my greenhouse since april and so far, it got a few 8-9C during night and a 40C+ at least once (ventilation problem) under direct full sun without any protection. The thing is growing like crazy, It have only one small red spot on a older leaf, even if I'm fairly sure it got water on the leaves during day-time. Also, I had to repot it for a second time in a 6 months period because the pot fell during a windy day, the plant never slowed down during that period ! Its quite frustrating when compared to others like N. Rajah who simply don't seems to grow at all for months !
Hi Brad, Nice video, though I was hoping you were going to compare the different clones you have, growth, colour differences anything else you have noticed since you bought them?
Hi Brad, this is just to let you know that I have tagged you in a bit of fun 'orchid tag' due to the information you gave out on your 'tale of two brothers' The instructions and the questions are in the description so you can just cut and paste. All your plants are amazing and huge!! Thanks xx
When do you know when to repot Nepenthes? I just got a Nepenthes Gaya I believe and it’s new but idk when to repot if I shouldn’t let the roots overgrowth
It really is a prette plant. I've had once that looked like that one but that one is particularly beautiful. Its hard to find those kind of plants where I live tho :/
Hi, Brad, I know this is an old video. But I thought I would give it a shot. My nepenthes top growth was chewed off by my cat, its new, my first one, , I'm not sure what to call the part that grows out of the center, but it was that part that was chewed, with some stem still remaining. Crown is in tact. Was this a new leaf coming from the top like with an orchid? Will this hurt the plant, or will it keep growing? I'm very concerned as I am fascinated with this little guy, and don't want to slow down his growth. Please advise if you can. Thanks s much,- Jeni
+BlinkBunny hey Jeni! How have you been! Sorry to hear about the Nepenthes but the good news is it will recover. If the top isn’t badly chewed it will just continue to grow, if it is badly chewed it will take a month or two but a new growth tip will form from a side node a little lower down.
It’s a very easy to grow I abuse mine and it’s doing fine just good light and some humidity with distilled water and sphagnum moss and perlite mix and it should be fine
@@tijmen131 hello I noticed you know a bit about carniverous plants. I just bought a purple pitcher plant, can you please give me some tips on its care? I haven't been able to find any videos on them
@@lynnbandy1115 make sure it's in a plastic container or a glazed pot, do not give it tap water. Rain water, distilled water or RO water only. Put it in a tray with 1 or 2 cm of water. On hot days let it sit in the water, on cold days refill when the soil is slightly damp. Put the plant outside, depending on where you live it can stay outside since it needs dormancy in the winter. By purple pitcher plant I think you mean Sarracenia purpurea right? Also, never fertilize it. Make sure there is some water in the pitchers, since this Sar normally fills it pitchers when it rains. If you ever planning to repot it, use unfertilized peat with perlite
