Unlike Britain, France and Portugal conferred citizenship to colonial subjects too. People of Mahe were French Citizens, people of Goa were citizens of Portugal but people of British India were citizens of British India, not Britain.

How can you be a French Citizen . It was part of Kolathiri Dynasty earlier or might be part of Zamoothiri Dynasty later . France invaded Mahe. British ruled the entire country but no one in India were British Citizens . Mahe peoples should have joined with Freedom fight along with others struggling for freedom . France did a mischief to Mahe and still accepting their citizenship is shame on the part of those who accepted their citizenship.
