Respectfully disagreeing on his first comment about the scope of Indian carriers operating out of Kannur on point to point basis, as it will not fetch the desired number/volume of traffic to each destination now. At the same time, the foreign carriers, especially Middle Eastern airlines can connect Kannur to the globe via their base station & thereby they will be able to carry North Malabar passengers residing across the world to CNN via Gulf airports. Indian carriers lack this advantage as they don’t have the onward connecting traffic (6th freedom) privilege out of KIAL via Gulf.
An Aiport constructed with poor planning and wasting 100’s of accres of land. Any one else would have done a better job. Happened to be the district collector then and his bro IPS was close to Leader. So got the job plum job.
