The smary hack, which I use. I save an empty 3 litre bottle of oil, and I drain any excess fat or oil into it! Then I dispose of it when it's nearly full.
@@rosaespinal7698 Oil picks up flavors. Which is why flavored oil is sold. Maybe you didn't use anything strong enough to leave flavors, but I guarantee you garlic, onions, shallots, tumeric, oregano, and other strong flavors will be left behind. And I am speaking from experience.
Instead of gelatine, you can use old flour, whether left over from crumbing or rolling out pastry/dough, it thckens the oil so you can then dispose of it in the rubbish bin
Regarding the onions, cut the root out & discard it first, the root sends an invisible gas throughout the onion as you are cutting into it & it's that invisible gas combined with a few other enzimes in the onion that causes the burning & tears in your eyes as you are cutting it, by getting rid of the root before you cut you have elimated that from happening &it makes cutting the omion uo a lot more pleasent.. 🇦🇺🏴👌👏👍🏴🇦🇺
I would be afraid to do the cut up sponge thing to clean a hose. It would probably get stuck in there. Why would a hose get so dirty in the first place?
Dispose of old oils by adding old bread (even moldy) and flour or oatmeal oat flakes...stale crackers and buns biscuits...mix well with a little warm water then..... FEED THE BIG BIRDS seagulls, crows, magpies etc,etc... They eat ALL the food very quickly and you don't get RATS, RACOONS, BEARS etc in your bins

That oil will still taste bad, because the cornstarch only removes the pieces of old food, not the old flavors.
WRONG! I've done this, and there are no "old" flavors present, none.

What was the foam in the basket all about? 🤔🤔
I save coffee containers. Put the oil in those. Freeze it. Then dispose of it when full.
Why do you freeze it? Smell?
If you put an ice cube into a bowl with water, veggies will crosp up. I do it all the time.

I've been using my largest mixing bowl with the lid for a cake saver for decades lol
I use the congealed grease and oily wastes as fuel in a wood stove.

For salad, it is enough to soak it in warm water for a few minutes - without lemon juice.
