Yep- the MSRP should have 'only' cost about $5k-8k more than the comparably equipped earlier gen Tundra. Not the customer's fault that they decided to use a high tech $30000 engine.
No, it's not a bargain, it's a bleeping rip-off. I will never buy a new car again, especially in the U.S. The days of paying off the three/four-year car loans are gone. The average family can't afford those current prices.
Im glad this is happening. The people willing to pay these prices were part of the problem. People need to come back to reality. A commuter car or entry cuv doesn’t need cooled seats, panoramic sunroofs, he back seats. The features on everyday vehicles has gotten out of control. And made cars less reliable.
Manufacturers have been catering to the wants and desires of women in adding these features and racking up the price. I literally had a woman state to me a backup camera is a safety feature. I replied if she needs a backup camera then she doesn't need to be driving, cause a backup camera doesn't show you what's coming from your 3 & 8 o'clock from behind.
Toyota revenue went up from $31.38 trillion in 2022 to 45.10 trillion for fiscal 2024. In 2 years the revenue went up by almost 50%. From 2017-2021 the revenue was more or less flat. The problem with Toyota is with the brand, product, and new competition. Tesla Model 3 displaced Toyota Camry as the best selling non-compact in USA and for a few years in a row if I'm not mistaken.
Its less of that and more about price.. The working man is done paying a mortgage for a work truck 🚚 and driving a cool truck is quickly falling to the wayside as will. The Americans with the money are to smart to waste it on a poorly constructed flashy truck...
Rent, food, electric bill, auto insurance, home insurance, products in general has quadrupled but salary has not. Even cars have tripled and quadrupled in prices and automakers are scratching their heads as to why sales are down? They haven’t ruined their reputation, people aren’t trying to spend money like that. Makes no sense
Brandon, I owned one of the new Tundras - a really nice truck. By God's grace, I traded mine in Jan 2024, some weeks before the news broke on their engine issues. The big reason I traded mine ( with just around 20K miles on it) was because I got totally pee'd off with Toyota when they TOOK AWAY my ability (after owning the truck for a year or so) to remote start, lock, and unlock the truck. I was informed that UNLESS I pay for the phone app now, I will not longer have those functions! I had it when I bought it, and when they became penny-wise, pound-foolish, I decided this was the LAST Toyota I would own! They can shove their trucks, and even if they discount one for me by 50%, I will not buy it! When you sell a customer a vehicle with "limited" app functions, then TAKE it away a year or so later because you want to FORCE them to pay for an app function they had when you sold them the vehicle, you, in my eyes, become a crook and a stupid one on top of that!

Wages went up, in my area entry level jobs are paying $50-60k now that require little to no experience. You may want to find a new employer and accept the new wage level.
@Dividend_Investing2024 that's great to hear until you hear about the prices of all your everyday items and other things going up a dollar to couple dollars on a daily influx will affect your weekly or biweekly pay schedule drastically when you have a fixed income and that inflation has a pattern for being on an up trend that quietly goes up over night and slightly back down just to go right back up drastically to never actually leveling out to living wages and living expenses being any close to liveable
Any chance the Tundra gets its V8 back? I wouldn’t buy a 6 cyl turbo. Never. I have a 2021 Lexus GX and I won’t trade it for their new 6 cyl ever. I only drive 7k miles a year so I’ll never need another GX.
@Bhatmann well, you can get F150s with a V8. Also, Toyota could have improved the v8 some in combination with a 10 speed auto to get close to the same fuel mileage as their crappy turbo 6 cylinder. Those turbo 6 cylinders don't get that much better fuel economy than the old v8s
All of the customers who were buried by these dealers are out of the market for the next 5-7 years. The dealers were very short sighted but then they’re car dealers so what do you expect?
Most people are struggling to buy food, house, and utilities. Crap they can't afford cars/trucks that cost $50k to $100k. That requires jobs that pay over $100k a year and working people dont earn that kind of money and thats 75% to 80% of the people.

Last year called my Toyota salesman we wanted a new RAV. He didn't call me back. two weeks later I call again and he couldn't do a darn thing on price for us a repeat buyer. Was still selling over sticker. Bought a Mazda and love it. Actually better quality, price and options.
i see this all the time. toyota and honda being driven over to mazda and subaru. god bless competition. my family had both and they are both good cars.
Recently had a terrible experience at a Toyota dealer in Phoenix. They weren’t interested in letting us test drive any of the vehicles we were actually interested in purchasing. So we went down the road to another dealer. That will be our first and last experience with that dealer.
The bottom end are the same in the hybrids, it speaks volume that they did not recall the hybrid truck. They are only case by case. It's a race to the bottom just like Nissan and Mopar. No one trust them.
No V8 = no new Tundra for me, No V6 = no new Tacoma for me either. Instead of replacing my 10 year old Tacoma this year, I'm learning to work on it myself. Bet I can get another 20 years out of it.
@ganymeade5151 it's not socialism, that's just people being cheap. Time and time again the consumer shows that they don't want to pay for quality. It's why so many car brands suck and there are only a few good ones like Honda, Lexus and Toyota
@@bsgvlog5640 They built better cars in 2000-2015 and adjusted for inflation, still were cheaper. It isn’t just a consumer problem. The market is distorted. The cars today cost more and engineering and manufacturing quality went down to maximize profitability.

As Dave Ramsey says; that thump you hear when you drive your new car off the car lot onto the highway is a $10,000 lost on your vehicle before you drive 15 feet.
They used to call it Busting Bugs - referring to when you take delivery of a new vehicle and drive it off the lot - and when you take that big hit in the resale value of that vehicle.

Crazy how fast the Toyota loyalists just ran away from the new Tundra. I'll give them props for voting with their money when Toyota goes against what they want. This is especially true with the v6 Tacoma.

Too many "features", too much tech, too much expense, not enough reliability. If it was a naturally aspirated inline 6 with throttle by cable, no screens, and real analog gauges I would consider it. But unfortunately those days are gone. So I'll just keep rebuilding older vehicles.
I suggest buying any older "workhorse vehicle, basic as possible, the one that can't break because a huge recall would bankrupt the company, Corolla, Mx-5, or similar.
Agreed. Trouble is, this costly (forced) transition to electric vehicles is forcing automakers to raise prices on ICE vehicles to pay for this. Matters only get more problematic when customers then don't buy these electric vehicles.

Just quit making everything so complicated, and then they won't be so expensive, and then they won't be so hard to finance and then the insurance cost won't be so high😢😢
Its simple math. People simply can’t afford these new vehicles. Im a mechanic by trade. I am booked out 6 weeks with work. People are choosing to keep their older vehicles and maintain and repair them vs going out and buying new for one simple reason. Its just cheaper for them….
$6k off a $40k truck priced at nearly $70k, with an untrustworthy engine due to a lack of transparency in what was wrong in the first place... and therefore probably still is. Locally I can get a Tundra SR5 for $50k, but it's still too much for what it is. I can get an F-150 STX crew 5.0 v8 for $47k4 before negotiating. If I could buy a new 1993 Civic hatch for my wife then she'd be very happy. They were fast enough, economical, and reliable. What are Honda offering? 200hp hybrid with CVT. That's two technologies we will not give them money for. We are not buying a CVT and we are not buying a hybrid. CVTs are garbage, so that rules out the Corolla. Toyota has even managed to make a poor quality manual for the Tacoma... as well as weak strut mounts and very suspect front axles. So what are we to do? My wife might end up with a Golf GTI. If I could separate my friend from the 7.3 diesel F250 manual 4x4 he has sitting on his ranch with a bad engine I would have that refurbished and just sidestep the current market. Close to 2 years ago when the new Tundra’s came out, I loved them. I started looking at a TRD Pro..did 6 months of research, was happy with paying MSRP, then started to look. I live in central Texas. I started a spreadsheet of all the dealers within 200 miles of me. I contacted 80 dealerships, not a single one was willing to sell to me for MSRP. The lowest I found was over $90k. I also couldn’t find any dealership that wasn’t adding a bunch of unnecessary dealer add-ons. After 6 months of looking for a dealership that wasn’t scamming people, I chose to take my money elsewhere. I spent $130k on a 97 Land Rover defender and did a frame off restoration on it, and know I know where every bolt came from, and I chose what I wanted. The dealership model has to go.
was surprised to read Mazda is now #2 in reliability, behind #1 Toyota and ahead of #3 Honda, plus they have similar SUV models without the ridiculous premium pricing and dealer markups
Perhaps they should make fewer trucks and more cars. All the Prius's that my closest Toyota dealership lists are either "sale pending" or "in-transit". There is nothing on the lot.
Somewhere along the line, Toyota drank the same Kool Aid the other manufacturers did: selling trucks with higher markups was more profitable than selling cars and SUVs. Their mistakes were assuming people would buy trucks in the same quantities as cars, and that people were more than willing to pay a lot more.
I was ready to get a new tundra because of its reliability of their motors. Once I found out they went with a v6, I was out. I tow my boat almost every weekend and I don't wanna play games with a v6, twin turbo or not. I ended up spending more money, but went with a chevrolet 2500HD.
According to the toyota sales numbers on the tacoma, they are selling the same as last year. But at my local dealer last year u might find one or two on the lot. Now they have 45 sitting on the lot. I think toyota is lying on their sales numbers.
Selling to the dealer counts as a sale for toyota Corp. It's why stellantis was doing so well until the lots filled up and the dealers stopped accepting allocatins.
Regarding Toyotas my brother lives in the Pacific Northwest. He told me Toyota dealerships there are aggressively marking down vehicles. Meanwhile here in Arizona they haven’t got the message 😳
I don’t know anyone (including a fleet mechanic whose fleet is mostly F150’s) who likes the ecoboost v6 over the 5.0. I can’t see what would cause Toyota to try what ford has already established sux
It's a shame that Toyota has followed other OEMs and chose to overproduce expensive pickups while forsaking their bread and butter vehicles like RAV4, Camry and Corolla.
The only new car that I bought was a 1985 Camry with a manual transmission. It cost $10,000. It’s better to buy a used car. In 2010 I bought a certified used Honda CR-V EX for about $14,500. It’s still doing fine even after an accident that took out the 2 driver side doors. She was 16 and messing around with the radio! 😂 It was repaired. Original transmission and naturally aspirated 2.4. I like to look at the new cars but I wouldn’t buy one!
Dude youre insane! If its not AT LEAST 55% off, a free lift, wheels and tires THEN I’ll consider after seeing if the dealer down the street can do better.
Mitsubishi used to have great vehicles back in the day: sports cars like the Starion and 3000 GT , sedans such as the Diamonte and Galant among others.
I wouldn’t recommend Mitsubishi. Just traded my 23 eclipse cross. They have extremely bad resale value! Went to a ton of dealers and negotiated my butt off. That 1 yo vehicle lost close to half its resale value in 1 year. I will never go with Mitsubishi again. Lesson learned!
I currently drive a 2014 Tacoma Off Road. It has 86k on it, 3 1/2 " lift with 33" tires. When the 2024 Tundra came out, I was ready to step up , the I learned they killedthe V-8 that killed any possibility of upgrading to a new Toyota Truck. I'll drive my Tacoma till the fenders fall off. Poor management move by Toyota.
For many years I bought new Toyotas. Yaris, Corolla, Camry, several of them. Then suddenly the prices started skyrocketing and the vehicles became overly technical and full of un-needed crap. The last camry I bought in 2016 and was ready to trade for new. Followed the new Camry, finding a base model at $24,000 in 2024. Then they made them all hybrid for 2025 and said the price would be about $28,000 so I waited. Well, the hybrids are here all right, at no lower than $34,000. Won't be buying new cars anymore. Now I buy 1 owner used directly from the owner .
My local Toyota dealership is similar to what you just described. I was last at the dealership two weeks ago and there were huge numbers of trucks. A number of Highlanders. One Sienna. No RAV4s. A couple of Camrys, a couple of Corollas and a few Corolla SUVs. I see that their webpage has about 15 Camrys on their website right now but it's unclear if those are actually on the lot or "in transit". They list two models for $29K which I am sorely tempted on. The most I've ever paid for a car is $25K and that's what my 2018 Camry cost. I think that there were incentives back then too. I am willing to pay $29K for a Camry but I am curious if incentives are coming. I have never seen market adjustments at this dealerships, though, but they do add equipment addons. Right now, they have two models without the addons. Most of the other Camrys listed are AWD, XLE or XSE. Those are mostly about $36K to $44K. It seems to me as if they are testing the market with the range of prices to get a sense of what people want. If they offered 10% off a $29K Camry, I'd pull the trigger and write them a check for it. I bought my 2000 Avalon, 2012 Camry and 2018 Camry from that dealership and have had them serviced there so they know that I'm not going to go to any other dealership to buy it from. They have a long-term captive customer and I've been a cash buyer when I'm there. So this video is quite interesting to me. My current cars are the 2012 and 2018 Camrys and I actually have no need to buy a new car. I keep them both well-maintained and it helps having a spare car if one needs work.

@@subaruamazon No, I understand completely what you were saying. Expanding my radius would mean either asking a dealership that I won't do business with or going out-of-state and going out-of-state has its own headaches. For now, I'm letting the price come to me.

The vehicle market has inverted. Can remember years ago not wanting to buy used because of reliability concerns. Now it is the new vehicles that are a perceived reliability risk and those old V8 beaters look like the safe choice. Consumers don't want to be the beta testers for downsized turbo drivetrain experiments. Too many made that bet and lost big time.
Also, VW has 0 financing on the Tiguan's for 2024, and there's tons on lots. I know it's a VW, but you can get a new car with a warranty under 30K with zero financing charges. Low ball 10 dealerships, you will get a S model for 26K.
Supply vs demand. Demand is low and they will eventually lower prices. But it won’t happen until they lay ppl off. Maybe close a few places. Do everything they can before they lower prices. A big price correction is coming…

A commuter car or entry cuv doesn’t need cooled seats, panoramic sunroofs, he back seats. The features on everyday vehicles has gotten out of control. And made cars less reliable.
Agreed. And all trucks don't need to be crew cabs.
It’s just crazy to see tacomas going for 50k+. Absurd.

Amazing how FAST Toyota ruined their trust/reputation with these bad engines.
Hahahahahahahaha yup!!!!
Yeah between the Tundra, Tacoma, GR 86 and GR Corolla what a disaster
Good! For years they've been living off their reputation and now their bill comes due

I can’t believe anyone is selling their cars/trucks at these prices, especially when people need to finance them too.
At much higher interest rates compared to pre-COVID, too.
I don’t want a 2024 Tundra V6 turbo for 60k.
I want a 2004 4.7L V8 for 8k 🤷🏽♂️
Paid $28,500 for my 2003 Tundra 4.7L, 4x4, SR5. Prices are insane currently.
Try prying one out of the hands of someone who has one! We know a good truck when we drive it, mine can't be bought for any price.
I have a 08 Tacoma now just hit 270k. Would love another one but I got priced out. So I keeping it and getting a beater accord for daily driving.
If Toyota took the 5.0L V8 from the Lexus LS 500 and put it in the Tundra they would be sold out.
Not at their current prices.
@ well of course at any of the crazy prices regardless of the brand people are not buying. Throw that out and yes people would buy it like hot cakes.
Our local Nissan dealer in northeast FL is putting their new inventory in the abandoned mall parking lot. They have no room at the dealership.
Same thing with Ram in St.Louis Mo. There is a gravel lot here with at least 100 new trucks. They still want $65+k.
07 camry here. would touch a new nissan or a toyota for that matter lol.
07 camry here. would touch a new nissan or a toyota for that matter lol.
was surprised to read Mazda is now #2 in reliability, behind #1 Toyota and ahead of #3 Honda, plus they have similar SUV models without the ridiculous premium pricing and dealer markups
Honda is having engine troubles also.
Local dealer has all their Tundras with 9500 off on the windshield.
You are right. It is not affordable.
A lot of us got money but we ain’t spending it
It's a shame that Toyota has followed other OEMs and chose to overproduce expensive pickups while forsaking their bread and butter vehicles like RAV4, Camry and Corolla.
Toyota raising their prices as if everyone now makes 100k min 😂
The only new car that I bought was a 1985 Camry with a manual transmission. It cost $10,000. It’s better to buy a used car. In 2010 I bought a certified used Honda CR-V EX for about $14,500. It’s still doing fine even after an accident that took out the 2 driver side doors. She was 16 and messing around with the radio! 😂 It was repaired. Original transmission and naturally aspirated 2.4. I like to look at the new cars but I wouldn’t buy one!
I'm a buyer at approximately 65% of retail if it comes with a 10 year 140,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty
Dude youre insane! If its not AT LEAST 55% off, a free lift, wheels and tires THEN I’ll consider after seeing if the dealer down the street can do better.
Mitsubishi has really lost their way. They used to make fun, economical, affordable, quick little cars. They really should get back to that.
Mitsubishi used to have great vehicles back in the day: sports cars like the Starion and 3000 GT , sedans such as the Diamonte and Galant among others.
They should all go back to their roots and re learn old lessons.
@@fredjemal3689I remember the 3000. That was a great affordable sports car.
Mitsubishi all but killed themselves when they did the 0-0-0 promotion.
The cure for high prices is high prices!
lol. we need to send the sr auto mgmt to macroeconomics 101.
07 camry here and i sold cars in college. i have been driving buy my jersey shore toyota dealership. all summer. only saw one camry and it was gone in a few days. just went down this week from northern nj and saw 7 carmys and a ton of other inventory. oems are jacking the price up. I would drive buy from time to time. I would offer 1000 over invoice. have to understand cars cost a lot from the oem's. 30k car they may have 28 into it. se and le are hot because they are camry and lower level. offer them 1000 over invoice. any dealership installed options should be at cost even though no one wants them. or open ur radius. get on the phone and call around. email too. if you can get a le or se for 28 to even 32 , that isnt bad. it is a broken economy and a broken car market. nothing makes sense. I would have problems buying new as well perhaps. expand ur radius and call around. is that confusing enough? lol.
@@subaruamazon No, I understand completely what you were saying. Expanding my radius would mean either asking a dealership that I won't do business with or going out-of-state and going out-of-state has its own headaches. For now, I'm letting the price come to me.
@@movdqa if u can keep abreast of when the se or le's hit the lot i would then jump in. if you can save thousand by buying elsewhere, do it. why wont u do business with another dealership who is fair. a warranty is a warranty. dont let sales intimidate u by threatening lousy service. that is bs. we used to do that when i sold cars in college. well mgmt did.
Loving the it's over videos would be nice to see you do a live QA at home.
I don't have the luck to gamble if I had the money the gamble on a Tundra just isn't worth it.
hey if i want to gamble, i ll go to AC and play black or red.
Too many made that bet and lost big time.
while Toyotas, Hondas, GM and Dodges are all over the news because of all those recalls , on MB, BMW side has been pretty quiet lol …
All hail the B58..
BMW is actually up there as far as reliability. There updated b58 and 48 are good engines
German cars are junk
@@paulhenry913German is junk
BMW- Big Money Waster!
MB- Money Burning!
Also, VW has 0 financing on the Tiguan's for 2024, and there's tons on lots. I know it's a VW, but you can get a new car with a warranty under 30K with zero financing charges. Low ball 10 dealerships, you will get a S model for 26K.
Twin Turbo is a BIG NO for me. I own two tundras.
Supply vs demand. Demand is low and they will eventually lower prices. But it won’t happen until they lay ppl off. Maybe close a few places. Do everything they can before they lower prices.
A big price correction is coming…
Tacoma, Tundra made in Mexico, over priced, poor quality, poor reliability. Koji Sato please resign. They should have kept the company run by family.
Akio Toyoda is still at Toyota but as a chairman of the board of directors it is a high level position.
Akio is now 68 and is getting old to be a day to day CEO and fly to each country.
I’m going to get a bumper sticker saying “Don’t buy a Toyota Tacoma” mines was leaking water from the top brake light and it had so much mold under my seats when I found out, that Toyota had to keep the truck for six months to get rid of the mold and never compensated me.
historically people would bend over backwards to pay way more for a Toyota cause they last forever. now that they made their trucks just as crappy as the other guys
camry owner. i say they fix it like the truck frame. however, this covid/train wreck of an economy makes things worse for toyotas. why would u buy a truck with fatal engine flaws.
Those RAV4 XSE were going for $50k used in LA. I refused to pay that much. Glad cars are finally dropping in price.
Will drive my vehicles until the wheels come off.
07 camry amen.
People want the V8. We don’t want a V6 Tundra. We accept a V6 in the Tacoma because it is the small truck of Toyota. In the big truck, it has to be V8 or larger
