    Yours is tbe only video that fixes the problem without the repacking kit. The trick is freeing the upper AND lower ball. The lower ball is easy to access but your method gives access to the ball inside the piston. Also, I didn’t need to remove the cage however as mine was clean. After freeing the second ball in the piston, I sprayed brake parts cleaner all over both balls to make them extra clean. Works like a new unit now. To avoid the balls freezing in the future, it’s important to clean thoroughly until clear water comes out of gun, then suck up some full strength pump armor before storage. Cheers!

    Thank you so much! My Titan 440 had been sitting for over 10 years and wouldn't prime. I wasn't willing to give up and try to go to bed tonight with the thought that I might be using rollers to do the whole job tomorrow. Fortunately, I found your video and it gave me confidence to find the problem. Just needed to poke the little ball with a screw driver to free it up and wipe a little loose rust and grime out of the lower ball and seat assembly. Only problem now is the water came flowing out of the selector, until I switched to spray mode. Will take a closer look tomorrow morning. Worst case, I'll just be ready with a bag of old towels.

    Thanks for the video mate, I bought a new titan 440 and it wouldn't prime or spray" brand new out the box" I took it apart & whatever assembly grease they used gummed up around the ball seat I scraped the dry grease off with my fingernail & a shop rag. I put it back together and she runs fine.

    I get pumps destroyed by being left in water constantly. I have a graco 390 ultra that I have used to death with two repacks and the cylinder and piston are still smooth with a slight swage. I clean and thoroughly fill with thinner with a little bit of red trans fluid mixed.

    It was okay before but now it turns 360 all way round when I try to switch from prime to spray. The machine Goes to spray mode when I don’t press the trigger but as soon I press the gun trigger it automatically goes to prime mode but still I can see some water from gun but no water comes the prime hose even when the Machine is in prime.

    Hi Arley, mate my machine isn't priming, I've cleaned out the bottom as in your video but the ball above the piston ball I believe you called it isn't moving and seem stuck in the up position, any hints on what to do as I don't have time to put in for service as I've got a priority job that needs to be finished in a week and I'm relying on the airless to get the job done in time.

    • @alielhaouli3198
      @alielhaouli3198 4 года назад

    hi, i have 4 sprayers, 2 grecco and 2 titan, both are well clean but they stop sucking paint every 2 or 3 minutes while spraying and i have to hit it with hammer to make them work, what might be the problem?

    • @westsprayairless8763

      Damaged, dirty or worn valves, each machine has two, 1 at the bottom, the other is in the piston rod.

    I know this isn't a titan 440i but maybe you would have some general idea of what to look with my problem. my titan 440i motor keeps smoking and blowing the fuse. i pulled it apart and see that the brushs on the motor are heating up and smoking then blowing the fuse . would you have any ideas what it could be?

    • @westsprayairless8763
      @westsprayairless8763  5 лет назад +1

      It could be worn brushes or a board issue, usually this is caaused by using a bad power supply or a generator which is not recommended, otherwise its wear and tear.

    • @neogx148
      @neogx148 5 лет назад

      @@westsprayairless8763 I didnt think the brushes were that worn till you mention it I looked at it again and at new ones online it looks about half the size of a new one . Ill give it a try and see what happens. I already replaced the capacitors. Thanks for the reply !!

    • @westsprayairless8763
      @westsprayairless8763  5 лет назад +1

      You can use any tips as long as you use the correct tip guard to suit the tip and your gun

    • @groovygringo3747
      @groovygringo3747 5 лет назад

      @@westsprayairless8763 no I meant any tips on how to take it apart. I got one today from an old painter. Its a diaphragm pump not a piston pump. But it doesn't do anything when I turn it on it won't prime or suck paint.

    • @westsprayairless8763
      @westsprayairless8763  5 лет назад +1

      @@groovygringo3747 sorry I didn't get the question. Yes first remove and inspect the inlet and out let valves. While they're out, inspect movement in the diaphragm, you should get more movement as you raise the pressure and less as you dial it down. If this doesn't happen, don't go any further because the cost of repairs will quickly surpass the actual value of the sprayer.

    After cleaning inlet and outlet valve thoroughly machine still fails to prime completely.
    Machine won't even prime an inch of water.
    Would you suggest a pump kit is required? Their are no signs of pump leakage
    Really would appreciate your urgent feed back.

    • @westsprayairless8763
      @westsprayairless8763  7 лет назад +1

      steven dimakos if your outlet valve ball (located in the piston) and inlet valve ball and seat are moving freely then you'll need a pump repair kit. This include piston and packing. To be sure of this, after checking the valves are free, put your palm underneath the suction valve with the inlet valve assembly removed, and turn your power on. If there is no suction against your palm, then you definitely need a rebuild
