We were privileged to be in attendance for this particular performance and were absolutely mesmerized at this wonderful performance! Richard Elliott is a world class performer. Add to his extensive talents the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Orchestra at Temple Square and you have an event that will stay in your memory for years to come.
Nice to FINALLY have the organ shown off at the Tabernacle!!!! Always seemed to play "second fiddle" to everything else over the years. Still love the Choir, but have waited to hear this organ in it's splendor for a long time!!!
Dr. Elliott brings the organ to life with his masterful technique and musicality. It has been my pleasure to hear him several times in person, and he took time from his busy schedule to demonstrate and give a tour of the Mormon Tabernacle Organ. Truly one of the finest. EJL - St. Paul, MN
😮 qué instrumento tan complejo parece el órgano! No solo sus teclados, pedales, todos esos controles de cada lado, y además saber una partitura compleja de memoria. El maestro Elliott es un genio 😮
It is very beautiful to see playing John Elliot on this magic organ. Sometimes fireworks on organ and other times he can give you peace in your hart. God bless you. Teunis Jansen, the Netherlands.
Organist, Richard Elliott here is superb. My wife and I have a nick name for him: Happy Feet! That's because we watch his feet 'dance' all over the base pedals with such precision and technique. Always wonderful to hear and see him perform.
Magnificent organ and playing. It's great to see another organist performing from memory too.I am a poor reader but once I have learned a piece I can ditch the score too.
Scott, wonderful solid performance by Mr. Elliot. Enjoy Diane Bish's version also but absolutely love Paul Jacobs interpretation of this piece. I haven't heard many, if any, treat Bach so wonderfully on the organ. Maybe why Paul Jacobs is sought so highly around the globe.
Bryant Worth Bryant Paul Jacobs is technically solid but completely lacks in selection of voices on the organ. his tempo is more often than not too slow, and is, in my humble opinion, a mediocre musician. I guess that is why we all have different tastes. Have a great day. Scott
Scott Dunavent Interesting of note. Virgil Fox, who is well known for blitzing through a piece, took his tempo about a full minute slower for this Bach piece compared to Elliot, Jacobs or Bish. In fact less voice selection also. Your right - each to his own.
slow tempo? have you heard paul jacobs performance of this piece? hardly slow and brilliantly played- this performance feels so rigid and slow and mundane - no passion in it at all - and virgil fox was well known for rushing through pieces making mistakes everywhere and his registration was out there and commented on even at the time- virgil fox is terrible - he murders the gigue fugue - id hardly call the chairman of juliards mediocre - not many organists learn the works of bach so well that they can dedicate their entire performance solely to the interpretation of the piece and performance rather than following the music- to learn all the works of bach by memory is impressive - and the arrangement here played by richard elliot is a simplified version - why play this version when there are free scores by great arrangers such as guilmant and stetsenko and an arrangement by saint saens that could be adapted for the organ??? this arrangement lacks in many ways compared to the guilmant arrangement performed by paul jacobs..............but each to their own ;)

One of my favorite Bach pieces ever
I'm always so amazed that Mr. Elliott makes playing look so effortless
I love to listen to pipe organ music. The Tabernacle Organists are great musicians. Love to listen to and watch them perform these solos.
I finally learnt how to play this piece. But halfway into the song, my fingers hurt bad. Good job Mr Elliot!
An absolutely incredible performance...Johann Sebastian Bach is smiling and enjoying Richard Elliot's performance.

The speed of his fingers from about the mid point to the end...WOWZA
Richard Elliot is one of my favorite organ soloists and does a superb rendition of this Bach cantata. I have also played this arrangement.

Congratulations. So beautiful.
He did a great job on this piece. I have watched a lot of talented organist try and play this and they barely get through it
Beautiful
Qué interpretación! Bella, difícil, e impresionante.
Fabulous!
You have a fantastic organ. You have a really good tecnic,. Why don't you use both together?!?!?
His footwork is so technicalXD.
Blango organ music saved
KKKKKKKKKKKKKKK ele errou todo o final da música
Not as exciting as Diane Bish but still a good performance. Much better than Paul Jacobs!
