Join Claire Wickes as she guides us through the serene grounds of the Arvo Pärt Centre.
Located 40 minutes outside Tallinn, Estonia, in the middle of a pine forest, the Arvo Pärt Centre is equal parts cultural space, concert venue, creative environment, a tribute to, and an archive for the life’s work of the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. The building itself and the forest it sits in work together to create an atmosphere of peace, calm, and reflection-an atmosphere that directly inspired the sounds of Salu.

I was here when it had just opened. I was alone and I met Arvo. I will never forget it.

@@henrycadman5564 It is difficult to put into words. I have been told that a marker of holy people is “attention“. That is to say, when they are with you they are with nobody else. Their attention is entirely on you. It felt like that. I had intended only to shake his hand and thank him for all that he had done for me and then to run off and savour the moment, but instead he asked me questions about my life and my daily activities and how I was pursuing my interests. He would consider each of my answers in silence before asking a very thoughtful question in response. I suppose I should not have expected him to be any different! A wonderful man.

Amazing place. And I’m happy to see an orthodox chapel and a lot of orthodox literature there, it says a lot about a spiritual life of Arvo. Very cool. This place is like an architectural imagination of an artist’s soul.

That's such an apt way of putting it. And it truly does feel like a spiritual place there, whether you're religious or not - I think the connection with the landscape feeds into that too. Have you ever been?

This is a beautiful video exploration of the Arvo Pärt Centre. I am late to the viewing of this, but I am so glad I found this today. This is also very inspirational for me in terms of spaces/architecture and the wonderful ways they relate to and inform the composing of music. Thank you, Orchestral Tools!

Such an extraordinary video. You exactly evoke Part's music by the precise way you measure the homage that Enrique Sobejano has offered through their architecture of sound, time, place.
