- Rockin' in the Free World. A great reminder on just how lucky we are in the US to be able to rock out in the free world without limitations to how loud, how often, or what we choose to crank up in our, homes, cars or ear buds. Thank you, Jason Newsted, Nicole Newsted, The Chophouse Band, and Lighthouse Art Gallery for the art, love, passion, community support, humility, talent and sharing your gifts. We are worthy and we graciously thank you!

As much as I love Rob Trujillo in Metallica, Jason is still hard to beat. His energy in Metallica was unmatched.
Absolutely
Truj was a better fit in Ozzy
Rob is a very good bassist, but I grow so tired of that crab crawl. His backing vocals are not very good. Doesn't have Jason's stage presence and Rob is just boring and has no personality. Sorry.
@Evil Mofo so edgy...so stupid
Carter Allison
Metallica is dead. And I love Robert, he’s great. I think I like him better than Lars and James. It’s just not the same anymore
This man is all about the music. 250 or 250 000 people. 110% every time he plugs in.
Absolutely! Beyond being a super cool humanbeing, music is his superpower. He is a badass at wieding his guitar, voice, bass and his creative mind to bring people together. He always makes me smile!
Henchman67 You nailed it!
Well local pub bands have similar energy...
The energy in that room would take what you're hearing now..through the the roof!
And even 250 000 people falls short. He actually played in front of 1 600 000 people in Moscow
A real pro, not needing exposure. He left the spot to his guitar player. Total class.
I wish this man would give us another Newsted album
Me too 😢
he already made an announcement, he can't do that stuff anymore after his surgery he can't play fast songs anymore.
Jason is a special simple man🥰
If Motörhead ever gets into the R&R hall of fame, I want Jason to play their songs
You can get a sample, but like many bootlegs, the bass is weak on it. ruclips.net/video/zYZlGRiDLJE/видео.html
Motorhead should have a hall of fame all of their own and no one else and "gra(b)mmy" should be renamed LEMMY and handed out only to TRUE rock'n'rollers the likes of JASON NEWSTED, for instance!
Shitty profile
@@tombelanovic7686 As amazing as MotorHead was for their time, if they were to come out today, they wouldn't have made it. This is just my opinion. I think Lemy's vocal skills were far from quality and his songwriting was pretty basic. I honestly feel this way about a lot of bands from my time that made it big. Today's quality of metal/hard rock musicians have surpassed the generation of the 70's-90's. Can't say I even like any of today's music unless it's bands that continue to put out music such as Metallica, Megadeth, A7X, Volbeat and bands of that nature. I know a lot of you may disagree, but really think about it. If Lemy, Brian Johnson, Tom Araya etc, if today, they were able to stand on the stage of one of these talent tv shows like Idol, The Voice or any of the other ones, there would be no way they could compete with today's young singers. There are pros and cons to this. I understand the music industry is so watered down these days compared to back when these guys I mentioned were killing it. This is just my opinion as an avid metal head from the 80's-90s.
A rhythm section with him and Dave Grohl would be cool.
Imagine playing bass next to one of the best basses ever while he’s rocking on vocals and an ax
One of the most famous* no disrespect to him at all, he's a good musician but he's not even in the circle of the best bassists ever. I am happy that he is playing music and having fun though
Jason is good, he sings well too.
@@dextersbeard3472 most famous..right...verging on wealthiest too
Thundercat
I can understand that but I don’t get that vibe from Jason that you should be intimidated by him. He’s all about just having fun playing music and doesn’t seem too concerned with anyone’s skill level.
What I like about people like these is that it is all about music not all about metal. When he plays a metal show thats what he does but he is versatile enough to do just rock and roll too. And the fact that he connects with his community in such a way to share his music in my view also says a lot about him as a musician.
Metallica lost their spirit & soul when this man left them...they’ve never been the same since. This just shows what a talented guy Jason is.
He was part of Metallica during their best years.
pepperVenge no, he wasn’t.
@mega man I don't agree. Cliff Burton was a good bassist, but he was very close minded. He fought against Metallica doing a lot of things, even music Video's. Also, Music style and performance is only Subjective. What is Objectively Obvious is that Metallica Enjoyed Far Great Commercial and Financial Success when Jason Newsted was their Bassist. Never had that Level of Success before Jason's years, Never had it again after he Left.
@John Martin Cantorne he did better than anyone could have asked for
Completely agree and it also coincided with James going sober in 2001 (right after Jason left) and loosing his balls in the process.
Jason has the real spirit of rocknroll !!!
Yep, he was overqualified for being Metallica's bass player - the bass that Lars turned down so low you can barely hear, in the first album Jason was in the lineup, I might add.
Damn, Jason ages well! His voice sounds awsome. He's such a nice man too. The dude should hit the recording studio again and make a new Newsted album. As much as he loves to paint, this is the dude's thing. My gut tells me he has no idea how loved he is around the world!! BUT, it's his life, his decision and his alone if he wants to bring Newsted back.
He won't he can play those types of songs anymore
Jesus, I really love this man, he still have a lot of energy
Jason's performance stunned my 79-year-old mother Penny -- she was blown away. I wrote down what she was saying as she told me about it because I'd never heard her talk like this before. She's not really into music. But she said, "One of the most incredible experiences of my life. He's such a fine human being, and it's sort of like he sings from his soul to your soul, and it's very moving. His delivery, the way he felt, was amazing. Touching, unreal. I've never had that kind of experience, being transfixed by a performer. His energy level is unreal. It's incredible. And his heart is in whatever he does. One of the most uplifting, important, real experiences. He is special."
ALSO her 90-year-old friend Marge was so impressed and blown away that she wrote a note to Jason!
That is AWESOME Brooke, was your mom there for the show?
@@rimascikotas6388 yes, she was sitting to the side of the stage. She's an artist, and works at the art school there. She just loves Jason! :-)
@@brookewheeler6243 so wonderful to hear. Just checked out her profile on the Lighthouse website and am pretty sure I spoke with her briefly while we were there. We came down from the DC area for both shoes and a little family vacation in Jupiter. Such a lovely area.
@@travelingempire I just saw that you have more videos of Jason and Chophouse at LAC! I'm so happy and can't wait to watch! I live in California and wasn't able to be at the performance, but she was so raving about it I wished I could see video, and now I can! :-)
I really miss Jason in Metallica. I'm just happy he's still playing music. I wish there would be more of him doing it though.
Good riddance.jasons better than metallica
There's no small stage for this Man!!!!
Jason was life to Metallica after the angel Cliif left them Jason gave the band another chance to happiness Jason is so talented, I pay respect to him
He deserves more respect
And they didn't respect that......sad
🤘🔥Jason sings from soul to soul🔥🤘
Jason Newsted = Natural Born Rock nRoll Guy 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
He looks a lot like Lou Reed now
Jason’s energy and power as a low end gunslinger will always be a testament to the power of what bass guitar is and should always be. Keep on rockin Brotha.
You can't not love this man.
Jason is Great person, bassist, painter❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍🌤️🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎤🎤🎤
Wow 🥰
So he can play rhythm as well as bass ! And sing 🎶!!
Rock 🤟
Jason is worth 60 million in 2022, owns a one square mile ranch in Idaho, and is making insane royalties from the release of the Black album remaster AND he still performs 6 shows a year with Chophouse. He is a great soul.
Jason Newsted and The Chophouse Band has been my favorite rock n roll band of the new era. A lot of the times I enjoy listening to Jason with this band than even with Metallica, who I've been heavily influenced by since '88. I wish TCB had full albums to buy or listen to on streaming sites. Jason truly is rock n roll.
I liked one or two Flotsam and Jetsam albums but when he joined Metallica I was blown away!!!! His energy was what kept me interested in Metallica and let me keep an open mind when the Black Album came out. They lost me after that but man he was always 100% about the music!!!!!
Jason is unique, talented, allways honest, tru rocker and just a good nature man... (Oscar)
Simplenente fantástico!!!!
Great to see him happy, healthy and enjoying what he does. What he does is amazing. Those lucky people in that room.
Jason Curtis Newsted --- We love you!
You Americans really don't have a fcuking clue how lucky you are to have Jason living/performing for you! NO REALLY YOU DON'T! I'd love to see him play live again (for me the 10th time , 8 times with Metallica, 1 with newsted). He is so passionate about music, reminds me of myself, sure tons of musicians out there but they seem to go along like they could live without music, but jason....you can really feel the passion he puts in to playing music, whether it's a cover or original material, the energy he puts into live performances knocks you off your feet! You joined and left Metallica at the right time Jason. Love you to bits bud, hopefully you play the UK again, I'll travel the country to see you again.
Jason has rock spirit. He's the best!
Still fresh in mind when he did very rare riffs in Woodstock 1994 concert. That was pure bass.
Jason is to Metallica what Nitrous is for race cars! Concerts are night and day compared to when he was in the band. He was a performance machine!!
Love all the older peeps in the audience. I guess it just shows that your never too old to rock!
i cannot stop listening to this song! mr Newsted, you are indeed a very talented and awsome man!!!!!
Still plays like he's in front of thousands haha🤘 that's sick
That's what everyone who plays live should do. No matter if there are 50 000 people, or 5, always give 100%.
You probably never have been amongst the thousands. Small bands play like that each week in local venues.
@@grimfist79 That's wonderful to hear. I live in a town with few thousand people so it's super rare to get to see any band playing anywhere near me (and impossible to get to play myself).
That's nice
Jason is such a great guy who simply dedicated his life to music... not caring about how huge the audience is!
Gotta love that dude!
In fact, he was the heart and soul of Metallica, well at least in my mind!! 🤟
I did not know Jason could sing like that. Amazing and impressive.
we love you Jason!
Always playing with his soul!!!
Yes!
Never been a fan of that song... until now
Great job, lads
Nothing against Trujillo, he's a better overall bass player (ST, Infectious Grooves, Jazz, etc.) but with Newsted Metallica had tremendous stage presence and a certain attitude that the band just doesn't have anymore. They still kick ass, but man... with Jason they were a force of nature.
Totally agree. Even though Trujillo is their longest standing bass player to date, he still doesn't feel like a part of Metallica to me. He seems temporary and doesn't fit.
I cant stand Trujillo. His stage presence is terrible. He hops around stage like a damn ape. It looks stupid.
Metallica used to be my favorite band. I lost interest after Jason left, but not for that reason. I just don't like their new sound. And cant stand James vocals now. It really sucks that he blew out his chords, because now it just sucks.
@@trackstarwillie2129 Are you stupid? nobody is talking about Cliff, it's obvious he was irreplaceable but he died and the band had to move on. We're talking about Jason and Robert. Jason was practically forced out by James, who now admits he was tough on Jason. Stick to action figure videos, you dumbass.
@@trackstarwillie2129 I hear you and am a cliff fan...but I started listening to Metallica in the garage days/justice era...so I grew up on Jason and for me was a big reason I got so heavily into them
@@trackstarwillie2129 Because the video is about Jason not Cliff LOL what a *DUMBASS*, you came here trying to be cool mentioning Cliff and you just got exposed for how stupid you are. Not only you're stupid but you can't read you ignorant illiterate imbecile, nowhere did I write that Jason WAS Metallica... you inbred quack 🤣🤣🤣
Jason WAS and always will be the shining light in Metallica! Killer musician
El mágico Jason brilla con luz propia
The spirit of metallica !!!
Everything Jason does is from the heart! Absolute genuine legend!
Wow what an energy and feel 🤟
Jason is the best
I can't believe I'm just now hearing this it's my new favorite rendition. Jason my guy you play it exactly how I taught my boys to play it, so happy to see you pursue music still because it's your spark
jason newsted the best🤟👍😊
Jason has more integrity in his little finger than Hetfield & his hangers on combined.
More power to you, sir!
Love & respect from Belfast, Ireland.
Jason Newsted you rock
Jason always give 110% love from Malaysia 🇲🇾
You can see it anytime he plays a remotely hard rock song. The head banging powerhouse that kept Metallica's low end rumbling like a fucking old style diesel engine is still there. Rock on Jason, lots of love and respect!
Totally agree and as much as I love metallica he got tired of the bulllshit
His vocals sound great! I love his gritty vocals in his Newstead band, but these clean vocals are great as well. Love Jason!
I came to Metallica the year Cliff died. Jason has been like a big brother to me all this time. Those Year and a Half and Binge n Purge videos were like my religion for the longest time.
Thanks for sharing. Jason is amazing
We love you Jason
Glad to see Jason playing proper music with humble people. Not self absorbed, Armani metalhead millionaires
Effortlessly. The song is not easy, but he makes it look so
Newstead looks like a crazy librarian from Seattle.
Looks like Lou Reed
hahahahahaha. I think he looks like Buddy Holly from the 1950's.
Jason é meu baixista preferido.
I love you Jason!!
Jason is such a trip! Now I remember him from Scottsdale Az back in his Flotsam and Jetsam days, used to see him around constantly. Then he gets the gig in Metallica, he’s a monster on stage with his death metal growl, massive local pride on the Phoenix metal scene. Now he’s freelance with the chophouse band and is very middle class, straight laced, slight Bill Bixby vibe... He’s what success should look like.
Brian Mauk he’s really stayed true to himself 100% and done what he wants to do with his career and life. Gotta have respect for that. Honestly I feel like if he were offered his spot in Metallica back, he probably wouldn’t have taken it. He loves what he’s doing in the moment.
Newsted is the MAN!
2020 happy he is doing well and loving life to its fullest. So many are gone and so happy he is still on people's minds. Love ya man!!
Jason es un fuera de serie 🤘🏻
That's really awesome I love ❤ it
This sounds so cool! It grooooves so much! Keeps us "Young"...😜
I am a huge Metallica fan and I will never bad mouth Jason again after seeing and hearing this. The passion the man shows for music is beyond reproach, and shame on James and Lars for extraditing him. I remember him in the Reality TV show Rock Star Supernova.........best thing that ever hit TV.
Absolutely loveJason I was born in 83 so for me by the time I heard Metallica to me he was the original I found out about cliff after the fact, Jason is the reason as a13 yr old teen I went n the bathroom and shaved my head underneath
Jason is a beast,,,,,
I just wish people could talk about him as a musician rather than just a guy who left a band.
Get over it people, it's the right thing to do.
Absolutely, it was epic beyond comparison but that chapter is history, let’s live and jam in the present and be grateful.
Such a great musician. You can just see that he was born to play. Thanks for sharing.
100% certain that Hetfield still regrets kicking Jason out!! Metallica will never be the same without him. Glad to see this man so happy and playing his heart out like he's always done.
He was not kicked out - he chose to leave.
travelingempire I think Jason’s too much of a class act to bring up what really drove him away, glad you’re posting and supporting his stuff. Jason’s a really gifted musician and from what I can tell a great person too
@@surfheadfred He posted a video telling all. Don't try to tell me it is BS. He left on his own accord because he couldn't do Echobrain and Metallica at the same time.
"HE FUCKIN LEFT THE BAND!!!!"
He wanted to develop, but in the previous group he was pinched, kept in the background , he got tired of it and left, Metallica will never be the same, alas .
Deep, deep down in a part of his soul that will never see the light of day Jason is the man & the musician James Hetfield would love to be.
Beautiful. Great. Good Song
What a stand up and stand out guy! Dude has a enough money to not even bother gettin out of bed ever if he chose, yet here he is rocking a small gig like a stadium not giving a shit about a record label or what band offers he gets. Just keeping music alive!🤘
Love from Russia. Jason IS the man!! My
Привет с Украины. Юля Дуброва
He can rock a Guitar as good as a bass.
Ньюстед красава и молодец. 🤘👍👏
Jason King ❤️🤘
Plays that rhythm guitar like a bass...heavy.....🤘🤘🤘
........CRANK IT.......HELL YEAH!!!!
Great crowd, great song. Jason is godlike.
Dang! The Chophouse Band in the house!
Jason feels music.
If you all like Jason Newsted look up the band Flotsom&Jetsom it was the band he was in before Metallica. Also a very good live band. Jason was a natural fit for Metallica after the loss of Cliff Burton.
Just such a good guy.
WOOW!! this is GREAT!! I love how great Jason's voice is on this, totally inspired 💗
Amazing!!
Just happy to see that he's still around and still rocking it 😊 Thank you for sharing
Watching this make me smile😊jason fuc king newsted!!
제이슨 흉님 기타도 잘 치시고 노래도 감질나게 잘 부르십니다.
I love the ...And justice for Jason, i've been listening all day that bass enhanced. Great musician.. 🤘🤘🤟🤟
Joined Metallica and became a hero. Left Metallica and became a legend.
Jason you aré great!
this some solid rockin' roll stuff right here.. with bits of thrash metal chops in it.
I met Jason once, on the black album tour, he was such a nice guy and down to earth person to talk to.. no ego what's so ever., now for the the guys... well!!!!
