    Thank you for putting this video up! My pediatricians office and several lactation specialists just kept telling me "spitting up is normal", even though I kept bringing up the subject because I knew something was wrong, and that something wasn't "normal". It took a few weeks, but she was finally diagnosed with reflux after having a terrifying episode where she arched her back and locked up for like 15 minutes, crying the whole time. I wish there was more information out there on this subject. It's terrifying to watch your child experience something so like a seizure, and not be able to help them except to hold them until it passes. It's sad that my child had to go through episodes like this because my instinctual worries as a mother were brushed off by several doctors, and even in my own mind as a first time mom. I'm really thankful for you sharing your experience

      I went through the same thing! The doctors kept brushing it off but I knew something was wrong. Im a first time mom and thought I was going crazy. I knew something wasn’t right but I kept getting dismissed. We finally got some medicine that we are gonna be trying. Im still learning her cry’s and it hurts to know that she was in pain and I didn’t even know. But everything makes so much more since now. All the signs that I got told were normal baby behavior wasn’t normal. I hope her medicine helps

    I'm so glad you posted this.. my 3 week old has silent reflux.. he's swallowing his spit up and making that noise you were describing. He arches his back and fusses so much when he eats and arches and breaks a latch when he does and it hurts so bad.. I'm going to join the support group you recommended and try cutting dairy (which is going to be so hard for me but whatever helps him!!)

    Thank you for posting this! After many hard days, giving up breastfeeding because we thought was the problem, then switching to around formulas to see if a gentler one would work, we figured out my son had silent reflux. I noticed he would have wet burps and swallow it a lot, and sometimes have milk curds left in his mouth. He would arch his back and cry and wouldn't drink a full bottle. He wasn't gaining weight at the rate his ped. wanted. So she prescribed him Zantac and to try Enfamil AR. It's been helping but I feel bad giving him medicine when he's only 4 months old.. I want to try that Hazelwood necklace thought to see if it hopefully would help and we could get off the medicine!

    I wish I had this 3 years ago. reflux is not fun to deal with. my son was on zantac for 2 years and then was switched to nexium and that has been working better. I had to use playtex nurserers with the drop in liners, playtex vent air and nuk bottles with him. it was all that would work. Dr. browns made it a whole lot worse and I had never heard of mam until my daughter was born.

    I would love to watch a video on how you care for your reflux baby. What things work for you? Like what kinds of burp cloths you use, or do you use receiving blankets for spit up, do you have a particular seat that you sit her in that helps, and how do you have her sleep? Just things that make your life easier with a reflux baby. I'm pretty sure my baby girl has reflux (we go to the doctor tomorrow) and a video like that would be very helpful for me.
    Also thank you for all your wonderful videos. they are so helpful. I watched your exclusively pumping videos right before I had my second baby just to get better ideas on how to pump better. little did I know that I was going to end up pumping exclusively myself. It was very helpful to have so much knowledge about exclusively pumping before hand. it made everything less stressful and I knew what to do and tricks to make things easier.

After you prop it with a pillow, roll up a bath towel, make it in the shape of a "U" and place that under the crib sheet. It should help with the sliding! 🙂 Although Sophie still moved around, especially when she became mobile.

    Thank you for this video. I have a feeling that my baby has reflux. I was trying to do some research on it and your video just popped up on my notifications. Great timing!
    Question: Can my baby be super fussy while feeding but just be gas? We are having trouble finding a bottle that works for her. She gets lots of air when she eats. We are using Mam and Nuk bottles right now and they just seem too big for her. She gets a lot of air coming through the sides of her mouth. She also will only take the orthodontic nipple so its been a real challenge trying to find a bottle for her.

    Sometimes it’s not a feeding aversion, sometimes it’s overeating. My infant continues to eat to soothe the burning of reflux. At first we thought it was cluster feeding, doctor as well, but then other symptoms started popping up.

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  2 года назад

    Regarding the dairy free formulas they are amino acid based and completely free from cows milk protein and lactose. With dairy and reflux it's actually an allergy or intolerance to the cows milk protein. Reflux can actually be a symptom to CMPI and not just reflux or GERD. If your daughter Remy reacts to dairy and you have eliminated dairy completely then I would say she has CMPI as well as silent reflux. Also for moms who don't know 60% of babies with dairy allergy are also allergic to soy. My daughter is 6 months and has silent reflux, cmpi and was failure to thrive until cmpi was diagnosed :) thank you for this awesome video there isn't much out there on RUclips for reflux and it's a very hidden topic xx

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  7 лет назад +1

      That was my hope! Thank you for clarifying with the formula, I just read that today actually! You're absolutely correct. I went dairy free with both girls for 6 weeks each and they were both tested but they didn't end up having the CMPI. Which was a relief but also stunk that we didn't have a cause we could accurately treat :/

    • @taylorlowe5543
      @taylorlowe5543 7 лет назад +1

      Momma Alia cmpi doesn't always show up on the tests and most times it's trialling dairy free diets which confirms the intolerance. The cows milk protein allergy will show up in tests but not intolerances. Hope that makes some sense :)

    I'm still not sure if my son has this or not. He's 2 weeks old but when he was 1 week and 5 days old he would spit up a lot after I fed him and would go to sleep right after I called the doctor and they told me to keep an eye on it and see If he feeds or acts different, he's not spiting up that much but he coughs and gags when he eats and I'm breastfeeding, he will cough when not eating, hiccups after eating or just randomly, sometimes he crys after he eats even If I have him sitting up/ over my shoulder trying to burp him. When I have him over my shoulder he will arch his back towards me and when I have him sitting he will strighten his back making it hard for me to burp him. Today he's been making a gaging noise like he's going to spit up then he smacks his lips like he just ate somthing. My mom and grandma tell me that he's fine and it's normal but idk.

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  5 лет назад

      It sounds like it could silent reflux with an overactive let down while breastfeeding. The overactive let down will ease with time and baby will adjust to it. But if you'd like to do something about it in the mean time you can hand express or pump for a minute or two before nursing then pop baby on the breast. The reflux may need meds if it keeps causing him pain or starts interfering with weight or feeding. If your mom gut is telling you something is off, trust it and press for answers! You got this momma!

He still crys once in awhile after eating but I think I figured out its because he wants to sit at the boob until he's in a deep sleep like I'm a pacifier.

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  6 лет назад

      Chamomilla is also known as German chamomile and is wild chamomile. It's a plant that can come in a lot of forms. I've seen reflux moms use the powder form and just rub a certain amount in their childs mouth. There's different ways to use it, just whatever is easier for you. Chamomile can also help with inflammation but it's not as concentrated as chamomilla
