You might want to put some steel wool around the opening where your fresh water hose comes into the rig. Keeps mice, rats and other critters out. They like to climb up the hose and come inside. It's much easier to keep them out than it is to get them out once they come inside.
It is a dream of mine to be able one day own such a beautiful RV.... well, any RV I guess! But if I had one, we would have to probably live in it! Lol so I would want it to be nice of course, and more modern. You guys are extremely lucky! And thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us! As for the size. It’s exactly what I would’ve chosen as well. I’m married 15 years now. We started out in an apartment! And now have a house... much much larger then the apartment. One kid is off to college. But actually lived at home for his freshman year... and we have a younger son as well who is 13, so we would definitely need the space. However even if it was for just my husband and I, I would prefer the extra space so that we would be able to have our own “me” time. That’s a must!!! For us it is at least! I can only watch so much of the history channel and my husband... well he’s not quite into Real Housewives of any state! Lol But I did just text him the link to this vid! And told him this is my Dream for us, and our retirement! I turned 40 last year. SOOOOO. I have a ways to go! And like I said. It’s a dream!!! It would never happen! I wish it would. But we’d never be able to afford it. I do however love watching stuff like this, bc I learn a lot about RV life!!! Sooo just in case that dream ever does come true!! I’ll be knowledgeable!
Hey! First of all, you totally can do it!! It doesn't have to be just a dream, these things can be really affordable! Did you know you can get a 20-year loan on an RV if it's more than $50K? That makes for a super cheap payment :) I totally get you on the "me" time lol. That's actually one of the reasons we chose this rig as well. I needed to feel like we had distinct spaces (like a bedroom, kitchen, and living room). The open floor plan ones were not going to cut it for us lol. Let us know if you have any questions. I think you could make your dream a reality for sure 😄👍
Oh you bought the Rv we fell in love with. Back a few years ago when timing was not right for us to Rv would just tour Rvs. Lots happened to us since then, we sold our big house after buying land and getting a shed cabin, thinking one day we can use our land as a home base / homestead. Then life happened again. And we bought a little country house just as our youngest left for college, putting our cabin homestead on hold. Then my father in law got sick and we cared for him in our home for a year. Sadly he passed away. Still the timing was not right to travel. It took a year to restore my father in laws home to have as a rental. Spending every penny we had to buy out other family members to do it, once again our time to travel was on hold. During all of these years I have struggled daily with a rare very severe form of arthritis. But never giving up on the dream of RVing. Then out of the blue my husband retired. He worked on a way to earn money at home. Buy studying for his home inspection license and building our resale business we have played around with for years. Still thinking “will we ever go RVing?” Then it happened. With our youngest away at graduate school in another state my husband able to make a living remotely it’s time to buy a. Rv. (Hallelujah! )The search is on. It’s happened. I want to pinch myself to see if I’m dreaming, our new Rv will serve 2 purposes. It will be used for travel, and when not traveling it will be parked up by our cabin on the Tennessee river. Our cabin then becomes guest space for our daughters when we go up for a weekend of boating. Our just need some country life. Now to find the perfect Rv. Hope you will follow us when we get out there and blow the dust off our old cabin life channel. Plus we will be traveling with our huskies. Dakota & Pearl And our newest rescue Millie. ( our huskies Dakota & Pearl) are on youtube. Along with Millie and her now 7 week old puppies. Yes Millie was pregnant when we rescued her. Looking for good homes for the most gorgeous puppies I’ve ever seen. Any money ever to be earned on Dakota & Pearl s channel will go to help animals in need. Please send anyone you know who is crazy about huskies to their channel. It’s a really good cause, animals will be helped as well as paying adoption fees for people to get emotional support dogs, hope we see you on the road. You will recognize us. Couple with three huskies and southern accents making all the new RVing mistakes. God bless, Leslye
What a tremendous journey you have had! Best of luck in your search for the RV that has what you need for you guys! Thanks so much for sharing and watching!
WOW your nomad home is awesome! Amazing amount of storage. When you tell someone you're going to live in an RV they say (what are you going to do with all your stuff, there's no room). If they saw this video of yours they would consider this nomad RV lifestyle as well
Very nice fifth wheel model, there's a lot of space in the kitchen, and also the huge under-storage is fantastic. I'm happy for you, you are a very nice couple, and the dog is very sweet! :) We all wait for the next video! :)
Totally! The kitchen space and under storage are what sold us on this rig. We love it :) Thank you so much for your kind words! And we have another vlog coming out later today... stay tuned!
I have been looking at that exact model for a few months. The rear storage is what did it for us as well. That slide out tray off the back holds a LOT of weight and that is where I put the generator. I am 225 lbs. and I sat on it and jumped up and down a bit and the tray didn't even budge. It is solid and that's the perfect spot for the generator so you don't have to lift it in and out of the tray since it does slide out far enough to ventilate itself while running. Time will tell if I keep it there full time since the operation of the genny might cause rattling etc. Good job guys.... BTW where did you get the unit and might I ask what you paid. The unit here in British Columbia, Canada is $99,965 (CAD)
Hey Rae and Jason. We have the 2018 Solitude 374thR. We are in the process of packing our 3800 sq. ft. house that we rented out for 2 years to an amazing family. We are officially hitting the road for full time rving on August 10th leaving south MS heading to Missouri. I joined your group and look forward to watching.
Awesome rig, had no idea this model had so much storage on the outside - definitely a +++ for it. I see room in the rear storage compartment for my table saw and miter saw, yeah. I have been considering the GD Solitude 344-GK but after seeing yours, might have to rethink it a little. The Solitudes are beautiful inside and yours is no exception. Keep up the RV 101 Tips, always nice to see how other people make it home. If you find yourself back in Washington come up to the Olympic Peninsula (Sequim) and we will take you out to dinner. No fine print on that offer!
Hey, Jefrey! Yes, you do need to weigh your options. The storage on this thing is amazing and totally sold us! Although, whatever floorplan you pick I'm sure will be awesome, Grand Design is a great company. Thank you for your feedback on our RV 101 videos, we do have some more coming in the pipeline :) We definitely do want to make it back to Washington but it probably wont be for another year or so since we're doing the east coast throughout 2018. Glad to hear there's no fine print on that offer though (unlike our beer offer 😂) so we will have to take you up on it someday!
Thank you for sharing your home. I would absolutely love a unit that size and that is one of my top 3 floorplans if I were to ever buy a 5th wheel...just not quite up for the cost of the truck to pull it as well :) We searched for 2 years and bought a remodeled 2001 Class A motorhome that is 37 feet. We got a really good deal and it works for us. I used to think that ours wasn't "good enough" and I see a few disappointing comments here (not many) but I have learned that others will think what they want about your rig and you are not going to make them love it. Who cares? If your rig fits you and you love it, that is all that will ever matter. Safe travels Getaway Couple!!!
Haha, yes to each their own. Not everyone is going to love the same floor plan or decor but thankfully that's why there are so many options! So people can get what THEY like. Our rig is perfect for us and that's all that matters. Safe travels to you as well!
Wow, you have a beautiful home! Very spacious with the slides out - it doesn't and feel like an RV at all! Love that faux fireplace in the living area. It kinda gives the room a feeling like you're in a "Ski Chalet"! Wonderful walk through for sure...Cheers 🥂👌👍✌🏻😎
Hi just saw your video from a few years ago you are showing your Grand Design. Very nice tour of your home. It she’s have a lot of space. It’s very nice too. Glad to have seen it. Very good job of touring it. The dog was very good while you were giving the tour. See you both soon in next video. Stay safe.
Wow 🤩 that’s amazing!! We’ve been thinking about getting an RV but maybe we’ll wait until the kids are a little older. Instead of us just renting cabins at the RV resorts were a member of. Thanks for sharing!! Happy Camping!! From ur newest supporter, Momshie B!
My wife and I have this same unit on order and it suppose to be delivered January 15th... CAN'T WAIT! we have watched a ton of your videos and really appreciate your channel. hope to meet you guys one day once we get on the road!
Thank you for showing your home. Great informative tour of this Grand Design RV. Love the dog just sitting on the couch listening attentively to you ;-)
lol thanks! We sure do love it. And we said the same thing about it when we first saw, totally better than the house we used to live in lol. Maybe it's time for you to get yourself an upgraded RV too? 😉
I agree. very nice rig. so cozy and homey , One of the best ones ive seen so far, Rae You did a great job with the show and tell on it. and it doesnt hurt that your so cute. lol
My goodness that rig is a monster. Wishing you the best of luck it is beautiful. Grand Design offers some great RV's. Happy travels and stay safe, Lou.
Hey there! We lock the door when we're home and obviously, the keys are with us when we're gone so I think we're okay. But thank you for the concern 😀. Glad you loved the rig! We can't recommend it enough, and we saw they already upgraded our 2018 model so this same floorplan already has some great additions and fixes. Happy travels!
Unfortunately there are master keys to RVs. And it’s extremely easy for anyone to get ahold of the master key and walk right into your rig. I just recently found this out and have been looking for other door lock options. I’ve found only one company who makes an alternate option and the lock is programmed to a PIN number that you choose. But they are about $200 and we have 2 doors on our rig. So maybe an extra $400 will float our way sometime soon haha.
Love this RV! My wife & I are looking into 5th wheels for full timing eventually (we will be total newbies, just like you!), and this is one of the models we are looking at. This video is what made me a subscriber. I love that we'll get to see how everything works out for you. We actually came across the Montana version first, same floor plan, and then found the Grand Design online. We have yet to find a dealer near us with it in stock to look at. Please keep the updates coming!
Hi Ryan! Thanks for subbing, welcome to the gang :) We actually were looking at the Montana originally as well and then found this model. We love it so far! Even though we have the 2018 model, they've already made some updates to the later 2018 models that we've seen and they look great. Hopefully a dealership near you gets some in stock so you can see it in person!
Well we did it! Finally were able to go look at the Grand designs in person and we will be ordering ours or should I say yours in just a couple weeks, we are so excited! We also full time. I have one very silly question that I thought of after we left. Where do you keep like your broom and mop ?
haha, yes she can be pretty chill sometimes... other times she can be one crazed doggie lol. She loves RV life though. Thanks for subbing, welcome to our Getaway Gang!
Hi guys, We just started watching your channel after seeing your Grand Design factory tour video. I'm the guy that noticed they used OSB instead of plywood. That being said... We are still considering getting a Solitude 310gk or a gently used Drv 36RSSB3. A couple of questions for you. 1) Did you opt for the Dual-pane windows? 2) If not.. Do you wish you did get dual-pane windows? 3) Do you think your Solitude is insulated the way Grand Design advertises it to be? We plan on being in 70 degrees when we go full-time... but we will be in colder/hotter climates from time to time in New England, the Rockies or in the Deserts out west. Just asking for your option how it feels to you.. do you need to always run the Heat or A/C under moderate ambient cold or heat :) Thanks for all your videos and information you provide.. Started binge watching your channel!!
Hi there! To answer your questions, no we didn't get dual pane windows but don't necessarily wish we did either. The only thing we've noticed is that they will fog up if you don't have a dehumidifier in those wetter climates. We do think our Solitude is insulated as advertised. The only pain point we've discovered is it's harder to keep the kitchen warm in cold weather (below 50) because of the slide being right there and it being the tallest room in the RV. We haven't had a hard time at all keeping it cold in hot weather though, which has been awesome. When it's mild weather, it does a good job of holding heat/cold so we don't have to have the AC or heater running all the time. Hope that helps!
I really like your 375RES! It’s at the top of list. Being over 40ft I’d be most comfortable with a 1 ton dully, but that is hard to find. I’m curious would you be willing to pull that beast with a SW 1 ton truck (long bed of course)? And would you still feel safe?
Hi guys. Love your videos. The hubby and I are in the process of purchasing a Grand Design Solitude..a step down from yours. I could not really tell from your closet but wanted to suggest using the new, slim felt hangers. You can pack a lot more clothes in that closet using them. Just a suggestion. Happy travels.
Sorry so late in replying. We just ordered the Solitude 310GK. In the process of purchasing a Dodge Ram, 3500 diesel dually. We would have loved to buy a larger Solitude but at our age, we felt we couldn't handle a rig that size. Should have done this decades ago. Love yours!!!! Enjoy your travels and be safe.
Rae and Jason, my wife and I have been researching RV floorplans for our eventual full time RVing and love the Grand Designs with the basement in the rear like yours. I am concerned about the Cargo Carrying Capacity (CCC) of them though. Do you know what your trailer weighs with all your stuff in it? Especially now with your battleborn batteries and solar installation. That must have added a bit of weight. Have you taken it to a scales recently? I haven't a clue what the cargo weight would be for a typical full time RVer.
Awesome! Jason wanted the bunkhouse to turn it into his office (aka man cave) buuut we needed the storage space more lol. Maybe we'll see you on the road!
Your rig is beautiful and huge!!! We are soon to be a family of 8 and hope to go as small as we can so we can use our 12 passenger van as our tow vehichle and part time in the future. Husband says if we go fulltime, then it will be time to get something huge. Honestly, I like very small but with kids, not enough practical choices for big families unless we want to have 2 vehichles. Love your rig though as it feels like a house.
By any chance have you weighed your set up with and without the trailer? I ended up not going with the CC DRW F350 I wanted because I didn't want to have a daily with the extra width since I don't tow much and it is a tighter fit in my garage. I spent Tue same money on a CC short bed SRW F350. It fits nicer in the garage. My wife and I are planning on getting this same unit. We first saw it at a show a couple weeks ago and love it. My truck is more than capable of towing this and is rated for 20,600 5th wheel but I am close on the legal GVWR on my truck taking into consideration the hitch itself at around 300lbs, my wife and myself and some gear and the 2900 lb hitch weight they list. I was wondering how much tounge weight that trailer really puts on the truck? I am hoping for more than 100lbs wiggle room. Thanks!
Thanks! We hear you regarding the slides. Thankfully, Grand Designs customer service is awesome so if anything did happen, we could get it fixed. And (knock on wood) everything has been great so far!
Just found your video and I’m lovin it! Hopefully you can answer a question about the slides... from the inside are the slide outs raised? I’m wondering if I could roll an office chair up to a desk in place of the dining room table or may in place of a sofa in the living room. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful rig! Glad I came across your channel. I was looking at the same one this weekend. This is the first one I saw with all that rear storage area, which I think would be really useful for FT or mostly FT use. The only potential drawback I was wondering about is the rear stairs into the living room. I love the way the design creates 3 separate rooms, but was concerned that continually going up/down the stairs all day (especially living room to bathroom) would get old after a while. Is this something you notice on a regular basis, or just something you got used to real quick? Now on to watch a few more of your videos. :-)
I guess we got used to it quick! We didn't even think about that when we picked this floorplan. It was just really important for us to have distinct living spaces. Personally, I like having the steps up to the living room still. A word of warning though, they are slippery after a fresh cleaning and if you're wearing socks! Learned that one the hard way... twice 😬
Hi guys, I’ve been following & enjoying your videos for quite a while now. It’s such a gorgeous rig in your videos that I decided to go back and see the tour. Just wondering - where does Carmen sleep?
LOl! Yes for the dog...any tips for cleaning that bowl? No matter how we clean it,it still always feels slimy O.o. Only downfall for these bowls I think.
Ugh totally agree! I’ve even soaked it and can’t get that slimy feeling to go away. I’m assuming it’s something in the saliva that doesn’t really come off. Before we started RVing I would run it through our dishwasher and that helped, but that is a luxury we don’t have anymore lol.
Hello again !!! So so many dealer videos online, many rigs start to look the same after a while regardless of the manufacturer. I really enjoyed this video because you own it, you live in it, and I get to see and hear the reality of space, storage and usage !! What I haven't heard you comment on is any problems you had in the beginning and how quickly they were resolved (if you had any?). Maybe that's another video I haven't stumbled upon yet? But anyway - thanks you much for sharing, you guys do a great job !!!
Hey, Bruce! Yes, we've been there... looking through dealer walkthrough videos for hours lol. So glad you liked our video. We love our Solitude and the storage is still our favorite feature. What type of problems are you referring to? Like with the rig? We didn't have any issues with the rig in the beginning, but we did just get some warranty work done for a couple issues. We have a video on that here: ruclips.net/video/VJ7U8lCgHwg/видео.html Let me know if you meant a different kind of issue 😊
That's exactly what I meant, thanks. I hear sad stories about many components not working properly and being returned to the dealer for many weeks or months of waiting for parts, approvals, etc. One guy said he spent 5-6 hours testing everything on the rig before he would even leave the dealership. He must've had a bad experience for sure at some time !! Thanks again for taking the time !!!
We’re considering a fifth wheel RV at about 40 feet long. How does your 42 ft. rig handle on the road? Do you have any problems parking it at campgrounds? I’ve not seen anyone do a video on that particular subject.
Hey! So I saw in one of your videos about the everyday RV life where you said you had the capability to use a laundry hook up, but when you did the video about the tour you didn’t show us the hookups. Could you clarify where the hook ups are in your RV?
Hey there! Yes, you personally could upgrade the TV if you wanted to but not through the dealership. You'd just have to buy and install the one you wanted. It is a 50" TV if you're looking around 😀For internet, we use a Verizon hotspot and an AT&T hotspot since we require internet wherever we go for Jason's work. Hope that helps!
This is my favorite RV and I agree with not watching TV in the bedroom I'd probably ask to have the tv moved to the kitchen tv spot because I'm short and I'd want to watch TV while cleaning the kitchen but the RV layout is definitely my favorite RV but I don't like carpet because I have dog and cat so if I got an RV like this I'd definitely want to have no carpet and washer and dryer
All of the Solitude models got rid of carpet! Thankfully, we like ours because the dog likes having it for her paws lol. And yes, we rarely use the bedroom TV, but I don't think we'd use it in the kitchen either since we are tall and I can look over the hutch when cooking.
My wife and I have the same 5th wheel only it’s front living and a few years older. Same layout only flipped. We are also full timers. Less then a year now. I have all kinds of questions for you on traveling around the country with this size rig. Any chance of exchanging E Mails ?
Hey great video. I too live in an Rv but I'm in an older one. On ur slide outs are their covers that cover the slide outs for extra protection? Thank you
Are you kids parked in a mobile home trailer park or a campground??? That sure is a big trailer to pull down the highway when you get to travel with it...
In this video we were parked in the Viewpoint RV Resort in Mesa, AZ. They had an area for RVs but we got put on a block with manufactured homes so we stood out like a sore thumb lol. Yes, it's a big rig to be pulling but we have a big truck to do the job :)
Oh yes, they're so much cheaper resale! We bought ours through Campground Membership Outlet. They have a list of available resale memberships and send them out frequently. If you want more information, we'd recommend Kimberly Hoel (her number is 800-272-0401 and her email is kimberly@membershipoutlet.com). If you buy through them, please tell her Getaway Couple sent you! We also have this video that explains how it works: ruclips.net/video/rTZV07hxmD8/видео.html
What made you decide on this model ? Do you have any trouble towing it anywhere with your truck ? I personally like the keystone Montana but your rigg is beautiful.
Thank you! We chose this model mainly because of the extra storage space under the living room and because of the floorplan. We wanted our RV to have separate living areas so it felt more like a home. Now I think we could handle an open floorplan but when we were shopping around, that wasn't an option for us. We were first looking at the Montanas because they had a really similar floorplan but nothing with this much storage space. We're glad we ended up going with Grand Design though because we've heard bad things about Keystone's customer service. But overall, their both companies that still cover full-timers with their warranties so that's good!
Getaway Couple what would you say it takes for the average income needed to be to live on the road if the rigg and truck were both paid for? Has it been more or less expensive than you projected it to be ?
Having worked for both companies, I'd say you made the better choice. I work for grand design right now, and I work on the line these units are built on. Not trying to be rude to keystone, we just build better units. Haha
Haha, thanks, Justin! That's awesome you work on the line. We're going to the Indiana Rally later this month and are excited to do the factory tour to see how our home is built!
Hey Chris! That's a hard question. It really depends on how much you want to move (that directly relates to fuel and campground cost). Monthly campground rates are cheaper than daily rates. If you move less, you'll spend less on fuel. Do you eat out or cook more? Do you want to go sightseeing and buy tours? We like to indulge more often with meals and tours so our budget is probably higher than some. I've seen people say they live off of $1000 a month and I've also had people tell us they live off of $5000 a month. So it's really a personal question and what you'll be spending money on. Hope that helped!
Hey Rae & Jason..my husband and I are looking to purchase this same layout, but I have a question. Because the family room is elevated, a ceiling fan is not an option . Does it get really warm in the FR?
Hi there! The bedroom and living room get warmer faster than the kitchen but it's also a lot easier to cool. By opening all of the windows in the living room you can get a great cross breeze going. It's awesome they put both AC units in the higher rooms because they cool down SO quickly once you turn the AC on.
Hi there! We do our laundry in the campgrounds. Have never had a problem getting it done, although some places can be pricey. I know a lot of RVers use laundrymats as well. Also, not familiar with what a DW is? Can you explain?
Hi, Thank you so much for your reply on the Washer and Dryer... :) And, Yes, DW (Dishwasher). It looks like such a nice RV I thought perhaps it might have a dishwasher, some do, some don't.
We just put them away. We have it down pretty well now and can pack up the inside of the RV in a few minutes. We mostly put the heavy appliances on the floor in the kitchen slide and in the sink. Bathroom stuff goes in the sink and living room pictures go in a drawer. Easy peasy 👍
That’s sounds easy enough. Thanks for the tour - it was awesome. We would really like to get one one day and make it our main living. I like the idea of a rig because you then have a car to use wherever you are. Thanks again!
Nice rig! Have you weighed it yet? I like the fact that the steps give you a break in the compartments of the fiver, but not sure if the steps would not get old quick. We have looked at GD, DRV, Teton and NuWa if we decide to go the route of the fifth wheel again. Still considering the diesel coach like we had before as well. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! We haven't gotten sick of the steps yet. They're super light weight so it's not big deal to lift them up on moving day. You've got some great options there so whatever choice you make, I'm sure it will be a good one :)
Hello very beautiful rig and lots off space. I have just one question, l am looking for a unit and love yours l have 100 thousand is that enough for a rig like yours or in the ball park ......Thanks God bless you both
Hey there! That's definitely plenty for this rig. The MSRP on our specific rig was $92K. If you negotiate properly, dealerships can go down 20% - 30% off of MSRP. So just do a little research online for what others have paid and make sure to negotiate! Good luck!
You really have a magnificent rig. For full time use it might be a challenge for restricted sites however I would choose it just for the comfort and style. Why did you choose this manufacturer?. By the way, you seem to be much more relaxed and your followers are hoping for you to be happy travelers.
Thank you! Yes, we are definitely getting a great group of people supporting us :) And you're right, we do recommend people think about where they would like to be camping to determine the length of rig they should get. We knew with this length we wouldn't be able to stay in National Parks and smaller campgrounds, but that was okay with us. We've discovered there are always campsites that can fit us right outside national parks and other areas meant for smaller rigs. We picked Grand Design because the reviews we read about them were great! They support full time travelers (most RV manufacturers will cancel your warranty if they find out you live in your rig full time) and have gorgeous rigs!
Not a weird question! We use a Shark ION™ X40 Ultra-Light Cordless Stick Vacuum but I'm not going to lie, I'm not in love with it. I have a hard time getting the corners with it.
Lol
But I did just text him the link to this vid!
Same for me and my wife. Years are being dedicated to making a that start. We cannot wait.
Same here Tina. That looks so fun but will probably never be a reality for my husband and I.
Love how Carmen enters and sits to listen to your presentation.
Haha yes she’s very interested in what’s going on, all the time. I’m pretty sure she’s speaks English fluently 😂
Nice video you two! I've been a Grand Design owner since early in 2014 and I'm on my second one. They have the best customer service in the industry.
We’d have to agree with you there! What model do you have?
Hey Rae and Jason. We have the 2018 Solitude 374thR. We are in the process of packing our 3800 sq. ft. house that we rented out for 2 years to an amazing family. We are officially hitting the road for full time rving on August 10th leaving south MS heading to Missouri. I joined your group and look forward to watching.
That's so exciting, Wendy!! Congrats on going full time! 🎉thanks for joining our Getaway Gang, we're glad to have you hear 😊
Haha, yes the fireplace is our favorite feature! It definitely does not feel like an RV. Glad you liked the walkthrough!
Hi just saw your video from a few years ago you are showing your Grand Design. Very nice tour of your home. It she’s have a lot of space. It’s very nice too. Glad to have seen it. Very good job of touring it. The dog was very good while you were giving the tour. See you both soon in next video. Stay safe.
Thanks for watching!
Our camper is a sandpiper and it is 42 ft and 7in. Long we have 2 bathrooms and a ginormous bunk rom with its own bathroom, tv, and 4 beds
That sounds amazing! Two bathrooms?! We need to tour yours if we ever cross paths 😁
We have the same model, except the 4 rear storage doors open down, which is really good for extra head room. Great Video, thanks!
Oh that’s cool! I’ll have to go checkout the newer model, I heard they made a lot of little upgrades to the 2018 already.
Thank you for subscribing! We're happy to have you. Hopefully you'll be able to join the RV community one day!
My wife and I have this same unit on order and it suppose to be delivered January 15th... CAN'T WAIT! we have watched a ton of your videos and really appreciate your channel. hope to meet you guys one day once we get on the road!
We'd love to cross paths one day! You're getting your unit so soon, how exciting!! Happy travels!
Arrived today!!!
Thank you for showing your home. Great informative tour of this Grand Design RV. Love the dog just sitting on the couch listening attentively to you ;-)
haha, yes she loves to be in on the conversation 😂 And thank you! Glad you liked our fifth wheel.
I live in Arizona. San Tan Brewery beer is the BEST! Your 5th wheeler is massive. Lots of space and storage. Love the fireplace too.
We love the fireplace too! It’s Rae’s favorite feature by far.
Your RV's better than my house... :( great RV...
Thanks, Lou! She's definitely a monster lol but we love her. We're loving Grand Design as a company so far as well. Happy travels to you as well!
Your keys and wallet close to the door for people to grab seems not so safe...
Love your 5th! We also want this floor plan so loved your walk through!
Really nice. Thank you for the tour. Love seeing your fur baby too ! 💙
Thanks so much! Aww, we need to show her more too, she's a character!
Just loved how your dog sat down and didn't have a care in the world just subscribed from new Zealand
haha, yes she can be pretty chill sometimes... other times she can be one crazed doggie lol. She loves RV life though. Thanks for subbing, welcome to our Getaway Gang!
I love those 5th wheels, one day hopefully I'll have one. Beautiful rig.
Thank you! And I'm sure you could have one sooner than you think, some of the used ones are a steal!
Getaway Couple Absolutely. I've been looking around, look forward to watching many more videos. #Cheers
Just stumbled across your channel. Curious why no washer/dryer if you are full timers. Seems alot of wasted time running to laundry mats
At least they do have W/D Prep. in case they want to add it.
Thank you for taking us on the tour :) You guys have a beautiful rig :)
Just asking for your option how it feels to you.. do you need to always run the Heat or A/C under moderate ambient cold or heat :)
Thanks for all your videos and information you provide..
@@GetawayCouple Thanks for your thorough answers!! 😊
We love Grand Design! Ours is a 2018 Grand Design Imagine 2950RL! 😀
Thanks! We are just starting to look at fifth wheels and I LOVE this design!
It's an amazing floorplan! After living in it a year now, we can't recommend Grand Design and this model enough!
Thanks so much! Jason doesn't like the idea of fitting more clothes but I sure do 😁👍🏼. Which model are you buying? Happy travels!
Great job Rae & Jason, thank you for showing your awesome RV.
And thank you for your kind comment! 👍
Very nice and roomy rigs with tons of space. Thanks for sharing... From Sacramento California....
Yes, there's so much space in this rig! Thanks for watching 👍
That a WOUNDERFULL HOME ENJOY ENJOY .THANK YOU FOR THE TOUR 👍😎🎄🔔
Thanks! We sure do love it!
I am impressed ! What a nice rig !
Nice job! Thanks for the tour of your rig
Thank you for the tour, loved it, well done 👍 cheers from Switzerland 🇨🇭
Thanks for watching all the way from Switzerland! And thanks, we love our home too 😄
Love it! We have a bunkhouse grand design we ordered last year. So great
Thanks!
Nice Rig....Very Functional. I too have a Large Rig as well, However I really like yous. Be safe out there.
Thanks, Bill! You too😀. What rig do you have?
Beautiful dog and it's helping you do the Modeling how cute
Haha, yes she loves to be involved in everything we do!
Love the rig, it’s one of my favourites. My only hesitation is five slide outs, they worry me.
Thanks! We hear you regarding the slides. Thankfully, Grand Designs customer service is awesome so if anything did happen, we could get it fixed. And (knock on wood) everything has been great so far!
It doesn’t even look like a RV it’s so beautiful
Right?! That's what we said when we first started looking at fifth wheels. They're nicer than our first apartment 😂
Beautiful, how much does it weigh? And if you don't mind, what'd you pay for it?
Thats my choice when its time to slow down ;) Great quality!
Yes, they definitely are! When are you thinking of purchasing?
Getting a more portable Carriage Cameo for travel next few years....THEN, the biggie! ;)
Your Solitude is AWESOME!!! And agreed, you probably don't need to have a 3rd TV in 400 sq/ft, but to each his own... :)
Very true! And thanks, we still love it after 2.5 years!
Just found your video and I’m lovin it! Hopefully you can answer a question about the slides... from the inside are the slide outs raised? I’m wondering if I could roll an office chair up to a desk in place of the dining room table or may in place of a sofa in the living room. Thanks!
I love this floor plan! It is so great to have a “living room”.. it makes it feel more homey! Beautiful! Do you live in your RV full-time? 🙂
Yes, we love our living room! The storage space and the separate living areas are what totally sold us on this model. Yes, we do full time in our RV 😊
Getaway Couple By far the best floor plan! I wish I could talk my husband into doing this!? Love your little home on wheels...
Learned that one the hard way... twice 😬
Have you had your rig on a CAT scale and what did it way with full tanks? Very nice 5th wheel, thanks for sharing....
Thanks for the tour! A great rig for sure!
Wow you have the best RV that I have ever seen. So spacious and functional.
Thanks! We totally love it, definitely very spacious!
Hi guys, I’ve been following & enjoying your videos for quite a while now. It’s such a gorgeous rig in your videos that I decided to go back and see the tour. Just wondering - where does Carmen sleep?
Hi Bob! Yes we recognize you’re name and picture 😄 Thanks for hanging around for so long! Carmen actually sleeps with us lol.
Awesome video! We have the same puzzle food dish as you lol! Thanks for the tour!
Haha, for the dog? She's such a fast eater lol. Glad you liked the tour!
We have a video on that here: ruclips.net/video/VJ7U8lCgHwg/видео.html
Let me know if you meant a different kind of issue 😊
That's exactly what I meant, thanks. I hear sad stories about many components not working properly and being returned to the dealer for many weeks or months of waiting for parts, approvals, etc. One guy said he spent 5-6 hours testing everything on the rig before he would even leave the dealership. He must've had a bad experience for sure at some time !! Thanks again for taking the time !!!
WOW....What a RV...I love it! Be safe out there!
Thank you! We love it too. Happy travels to you!
We have a 2013 Grand Design Solitude 369RL. I see a lot of deco in your RV that’s in ours.
Yeah, they don't change the interior much lol. But we totally love it!
We’re considering a fifth wheel RV at about 40 feet long. How does your 42 ft. rig handle on the road? Do you have any problems parking it at campgrounds? I’ve not seen anyone do a video on that particular subject.
Beautiful 5th wheel, I know you will enjoy it.
Thanks! Yes, we totally love it :)
Cool rv! Enjoy in good health.
Love your RV, and I wish Northwood would change up and upgrade their design. Great Vid and be safe.
Thank you! We sure do love it too 😊
such a fantastik rv.mpravo guys.its so amazing.
Terrific walk through-terrific rig
How tall is the storage bay on the back? That slide tray is awesome
Hey! So I saw in one of your videos about the everyday RV life where you said you had the capability to use a laundry hook up, but when you did the video about the tour you didn’t show us the hookups. Could you clarify where the hook ups are in your RV?
Oh, whoops! The hookups are in our tall closet in the bedroom. You can put a stackable washer/dryer there. Hope that helps!
Hey love the video it was pretty helpful. Two questions though; can you upgrade the living room tv? And how do you guys get internet?
And yes, we rarely use the bedroom TV, but I don't think we'd use it in the kitchen either since we are tall and I can look over the hutch when cooking.
the standard toilet .. lol "porcelain" the standard shower head most people change ? yeah they change it to that one.. haha..awesome rig..
My wife and I have the same 5th wheel only it’s front living and a few years older. Same layout only flipped. We are also full timers. Less then a year now. I have all kinds of questions for you on traveling around the country with this size rig. Any chance of exchanging E Mails ?
Hey Jeff! Feel free to reach out to info@getawaycouple.com with any questions. Talk soon!
do you require a special drivers license for your truck and RV? Thanks Love you guys! Steve
Hey great video. I too live in an Rv but I'm in an older one. On ur slide outs are their covers that cover the slide outs for extra protection? Thank you
Hi there! We do not have slide toppers on our RV. We've been thinking about getting them but not sure if they are worth it.
Wow...monster. thanks for sharing, beautiful
Lol, definitely is! We finally came up with a name for it too.. Nessie (as in the Loch Ness Moster, since's it's so big lol)
Do you guys work on the road? Would love to quit my day job add take off!
Great video. Love your Rig. What was the price of your solitude RV?
Thanks! We got our rig in the mid $60K range 👍🏼
Do you still have this unit? We just ordered a 375RES w/8k disc and paint. Any regrets or changes you'd make?
Yes! WE LOVE IT! Here is the link to the video we did after 3 years of living in it - ruclips.net/video/VHtGACy6ijA/видео.html
great RV
Thanks! We sure do love it 😀
Are you kids parked in a mobile home trailer park or a campground??? That sure is a big trailer to pull down the highway when you get to travel with it...
In this video we were parked in the Viewpoint RV Resort in Mesa, AZ. They had an area for RVs but we got put on a block with manufactured homes so we stood out like a sore thumb lol. Yes, it's a big rig to be pulling but we have a big truck to do the job :)
Edi2003 Wow! Good to know what not to ask! 😬🤣
I knew you had a TT membership, but I didn't know you bought it outside of TT. How does that work?
Very nice rig. Enjoyed the video.
Thank you!
Hi, I see you didn't get the W/D. Where do you do your laundry? I love the rig, it's just beautiful. Does it have a DW?
Hi there! We do our laundry in the campgrounds. Have never had a problem getting it done, although some places can be pricey. I know a lot of RVers use laundrymats as well. Also, not familiar with what a DW is? Can you explain?
Getaway Couple - I think they are asking if you have a dishwasher.
Hi, Thank you so much for your reply on the Washer and Dryer... :) And, Yes, DW (Dishwasher). It looks like such a nice RV I thought perhaps it might have a dishwasher, some do, some don't.
Yes, dishwasher ;)
beautiful rig
Thanks, Brenda! We sure do love it 😊
Nice rig. -Matt
Thanks, Matt! We sure do love it.
How do you get things not to slide around when to travel? I see thinks out on the counters and shelves (appliances, picture frames, etc.)
Omg I love it! So livable!!
We love it too! Been in it a year now and love it even more.
Getaway Couple I was speaking about stairs to living room, getting old.
Joe, that only gets old for us old folks...not them. LOL.
Have you weighed it? Did you get generator and/or dual pane windows?
Hello very beautiful rig and lots off space. I have just one question, l am looking for a unit and love yours l have 100 thousand is that enough for a rig like yours or in the ball park
......Thanks God bless you both
Hey there! That's definitely plenty for this rig. The MSRP on our specific rig was $92K. If you negotiate properly, dealerships can go down 20% - 30% off of MSRP. So just do a little research online for what others have paid and make sure to negotiate! Good luck!
Getaway Couple.......Thanks stay safe and enjoy everthing that God has given us to see on are travels......
You really have a magnificent rig. For full time use it might be a challenge for restricted sites however I would choose it just for the comfort and style. Why did you choose this manufacturer?. By the way, you seem to be much more relaxed and your followers are hoping for you to be happy travelers.
Thank you! Yes, we are definitely getting a great group of people supporting us :)
And you're right, we do recommend people think about where they would like to be camping to determine the length of rig they should get.
How were you able to afford this? Great job if you can find it hope you have fun in your travels
We set our minds to it and worked hard for our dream 😃We saved, paid off bills, and made it happen!
Just wanted to ask where can I get one of those sponge holders you have in the sink?
Hey there! We got ours from Target :)
Sorry if already answered but lots of comments. What are you pulling with? Thanks!
Hey, no worries! We have a 2012 RAM Diesel Dually. Here's our walkthrough video if you're interested: ruclips.net/video/SjVmYexSOXs/видео.html
Getaway Couple thanks much! Happy camping. Can’t cart to get ours out of storage for the summer. Snow finally melted!
Woohoo, that's great! Happy camping to you as well!
Hi I really like your videos are you guys planning a trip to Ohio
Super nice RV but why would you have a fog inside such nice place!!!
Thanks! But what are you referring to as fog?
May be a weird question, but what kind of vacuum do you have for the 5th wheel?
Not a weird question! We use a Shark ION™ X40 Ultra-Light Cordless Stick Vacuum but I'm not going to lie, I'm not in love with it. I have a hard time getting the corners with it.
@@GetawayCouple thank you for your reply and happy traveling to you guys! :)
Thank you! You too 😊
