i met Ajahn Sumedo in the early 90s in the Amravati Buddhist Centre near Great Gaddesden UK. A Thai friend took me when she went to Meditate and make some vows. Ajahn Surmedo was very inspirational and i have remembered his teachings. He wrote a great book. The mind and the way.

Cultivate the path.....develop insight..Sati Mindfulness, panna wisdom( not worldly knowledge), in Buddhism wisdom, not to be grasped, encouragement to direct our attention, start observing the feeling: like or dislike, fear or anger, impatient or Borden, doubt or worry , they arise and cease, if you accept it, let it be what it is, it changes, it does not have permanent quality. In Buddha's teaching : Sabbe Sankhara aniccati. .......all conditioned are impermant. ...... So then we began to aweken: to the ultimate truth: Paramattha sacca : ultimate reality. Sadhu Bhante!
Nobody expects the dhamma Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise... surprise and fear... fear and surprise... Our two weapons are fear and surprise... 12 fold kamma and it's fruit ...._- kamma to be experienced here and now and all the rest- Our three weapons are moral shame, and moral dread and patience... and an almost fanatical devotion to the suttas... Our four... no... Amongst our weapons... Amongst our weaponry... are such elements as fear, shame... I'll come in again READ all about it at Dhamma Wheel not dhamma Who are the Suttavadins? Consciousness in Buddhism, is immeasurable, I does not have forms, qualities, conditions, but 'here and now' this moment. Observe the mood or emotions....awareness is reflective observation, the experience of present moment...
Consciousness does not have boundary... Thinking process : good or bad, size, gender.. tense to delude. We think, consciousness experiences only through the senses: seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, touching, but senses can delude us: cultural belief, ...... Awareness : Sati + Sampajanna, Sati+Panna, pointing to the reality, just being attentive in the present, listening...observing..., it's not aggressive, to find someting.......just being aware just is this. 24:54
Buddha said: gate: door to the deathlessness, amata dhamma....awakenning to the reality of Deathlessness......... Consciousness is awakening, here and now,.....
Still this huge blunder spanning the whole forest Tradition by which awareness identifies with Nibbana. If this were so easy the Buddha’s teaching would have been much shorter. Furthermore the way awareness is presented reminds much of God.
I think you dont understand what pure concious awareness. If 'one' was always aware there would be no sense of self and a complete understanding of conditionality.

It does not have form, i.e. formless.
