I have had Mercedes most of my driving career I have got a lot of "I don"t know"s" so am going to follow you tips and tricks.I"m glad I found you I own a 2006 E350 wagon. Thank you. Joan
Great stuff! This got me looking at my owners manual and I found a section called, “Practical Hints.” Owned my Mercedes’ for three years and still finding fun features thanks to folks like you.
Flabbergasted. After my 5th Mercedes I just discovered your video’s. I actually just went outside in the pooring rain to test the tunnel mode on my car with panoramic sunroof. Yes I got soaking wet but it was all worth it. I tried it several times. Brilliant! Made my day 😂
Hey KH thanks for the great vids you have put together on the MB functions. While there are many videos out there on the MB functions / Tricks subject, they didn't have your skill and ability to really guide the viewer through the process at a pace and level others haven't. A lot of people struggle with User Manuals full stop. So believe me when I say your effort in making your videos for the people who need them are very thankful buddy. Well done and thanks.
@@killerhertzmercedes Hello mate and pls dont laugh now as this is a genuine question for a real live problem that sometime ago a friend did to my cars door locking mode. It used to be exactly like you explain in your video. Hold down both buttons for 5 seconds to change from one setting to another. My car is reversed - pull on any of the 3 passenger door handles to open and gain entry. No entry from drivers door. So I have just spent 30 minutes to change the setting back and when I try to hold both buttons downs it just accepts 1 button command and locks or unlocks. My car is a 2006 E55 Sedan Australian delivered. Thanks again
Disconnect main car battery for 20mins to fully reset all systems and it should go back to default :) Check my latest vid for disconnecting main battery.
The second feature, the lighting of the rear windows switches turning off, the WK2 Jeep grand cherokee, which was co-engineered with Mercedes also has this features
LoL! Much as I am a big fan of MB, the SAAB pioneered most of these 'cool features' e.g. double sun visor, fob key, cup holders, etc. My first awareness of them was back in 1995 in the SAAB 9-3 and 9-5. Even the now famous side impact bars, airbags, turbo engine technology, sound proof convertible roofs and multifunction steering wheel had long been in place in the 93 that I test driven back then.
I had an R129 for 16 years (1992 - 500SL) which had a cool feature engineered into the rear view mirror. It was adjustable by a control switch in centre console and an electric motor moving the mirror. Always had to tell any friend driving it not to manually adjust the rear view mirror. Cool part is with the three seat memory switch, the rear view mirror move into exactly where you set it together with the seat, seat belt height and steering wheel setup. Within a few years that feature has been deleted.
Zivojin Budimirovic The only people to drive it were like minded friends and we woud, regularly swap cars when we were touring, going to wineries, the coast etc. Got to drive some amazing cars. Take your message but always been careful who drives my cars.
Mercedes never ceases to amaze me, they are always so far ahead of other cars, some features by 10 or 20 years. I bought a 1997 C-280 back in 2011 but it did not have a manual so I am always amazed when I find something new. Like the headlight switch, one day I was waiting on my wife as she shopped and pulled on it, it has 2 levels, not only can you turn it for the parking or headlights but if you pull it out another set of lights come on, it shows the side of the road as you drive along with normal headlights, if you pull it out all the way the tail lights stay on, not sure what this is for but there has to be a good reason. I have always been a fan of German car and technology, it took America and Japan decades to catch up with not locking your keys in your car, it's meaningless now a days with keyless entries but back in the 60's-90's many people have locked their keys in their cars, nott on German cars, you needed the key to lock the driver door, the other doors would stay locked if you clicked the button down but not the drivers door. Also, how many of us back in the day have left our headlights on during rainy days? German cars the headlights would go out so you don't come back to a dead battery. again, now a days they have beepers and bells. I always wondered why American cars did not have a safety so you could not lock your keys in your car, they had a deal with the locksmith companies. My old 1964 Benz had this feature but my 1992 Caddy did not.. Way too many things to list, but these were 2 small features other car companies could have used.
The taillights that keep burning is when you drive in foggie conditions or fog excuse my english but when youre visual is compromised due tue bad conditions you use this option
What you're referring to, in the first part of your paragraph, is the Fog-lights. On the 1993 to early 1996 models, the fogs were placed in the headlight housing, beside the the dipped and main beam. From late 1996 to 2000, the fogs were swapped so that they are positioned underneath the dipped beam and sidelight. What was previously the foglight housing, is now the main (high) beam housing. All mercs have a rear foglight that shines significantly brighter when you activate it
Thank you Sir. I am driving all kind off Mercedes for the last 50 years. And I did not care about anything but knowing the common features. Thanks a lot for your hints. I appreciate that. Jo
Hi Thanks so much I just bought a W211, love. Videos like this to see features and find out , I watched vol 2 as well ! Looking forward to Vol 3! Thanks so much. Neill.
The key FOB trick for unlock is great. On my 2007 Mercedes ML-350, first push for unlock is the drivers door, and a second push unlocks the rest of the doors. I'll have to see if there is a gas cap bracket on mine as well - that was pretty cool too!
Is there a way to increase the volume for navigation instructions? As it is currently set, my wife and I cannot hear the voice clearly. Adjusting the radio volume does not help. The model is a GLC 43, 2017. Thank you!
Hey,i am going to buy Mercedes W212 (2010-2011 with probably Avantgarde packagge) but i was wondering if it's comfortable? All i need is comfortable car for bumpy city roads..What does it feel like ?
Subscribed purely for the tip about pressing the volume roller to mute in your other video! Granted I've only had my C205 one day but all your tips are excellent, thank you!
I have a MB B200 auto turbo year 2011. I would like to have the park assist switched off as a default setting because I do not want to hear beep beep every time the car comes close to something (or a pedestrian walks past). In the event that I want the park assist function, then I can push a button. The existing button to mute the car park assist sensors is by default switched on - I want to have the opposite - by default the park alarm sensors are switched off and on the odd occasion I want the park sensors to help me park, then I can push the button. Is this modification possible?
Chris 5949 yea ok your driving 20 years and had no idea about the gas cap lol I’m driving bens maybe 6-7 years and I knew most of them the driver side lock is new to me thanks
Its not over engineering its actually under if you will because in the older modles that window lock switch atually just cut the power the back switches entirety and was just a bridge for power to flow from the front to the back switches. Was the same as if you shut the light off in your houae in a room
The reason that these features are not well-known is that they're rarely used. A waste of money, as you've paid for them. And that's the main thing. Ask Mercedes why my C Class Coupe has these gimmicks but the rear windows doesn't open and it doesn't have a rear wiper.
Thanks for your comments, What if you do not own the manual? - The sunvisors, switch illumination and bootlid light features do not appear in the W211 or W202 manuals BTW :)

"turbo engine technology" has been in cars since the sixties but the first turbo Mercedes I know of came to be in the mid 70s
