South Korea didn't "divide from the North." Two Allied Powers, USA and USSR, divided Korea, after they defeated Japan. The Koreans gained their independence on August 15, 1945. There was an election in the US controlled South, while the Russian controlled North boycotted that election. The election formed the Republic of Korea, established on August 15, 1948, in the South. In September, the North formed their own government and established Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

No mention of China sending their million-man army to aid the North. Are you some kind of a troll? Which one of the Koreas is a first world country and which one is a third world country? Why are your facts this twisted? Are you even Korean?

    • @SeoWoojin55
      @SeoWoojin55 2 года назад

Technically, the Korean Republic was formed in 1919. It was just continued after Japan's defeat but the North boycotted it. The Korean Republic also coordinated attacks with the Korean resistance against the Japanese since 1919 has launched full offensives from the 1930s up to Japan's surrender. They were already launching offensives and defeating and clearing Japanese garrisons and were ready for a final offensive when the bomb was dropped in Hiroshima. This cancelled the planned final offensive.

Ah, never ending misnomer and misleading direct translation, “Comfort” women. How are human animals so ignorant that SEX is for comfort not knowing what birds and bees know instinctively and follow through with responsibility? Bees have sex and reproduce and nurture offsprings. Birds mate and male birds (as far as I know) stay to raise offsprings without going to the court for child support.
Now human male species think sex is for comfort (or pleasure) and name female species as comfort women. And they think they can get away from reproductive responsibility for their biological children anonymously before DNA. No prevention or consequences and liability in mind after sex. Sheer ignorance and fallacy (money can be used to “buy” sex). And whoever named women CW, all others call them so like parrots. Nobody asks what happened to the pregnant women and their children? If women are over 18 (surely impregnable age) and consent, it doesn’t involve minor (another fallacy, birds and bees would identify) and it is not crime.

You know... it's hard to say the country of south korea was born on a that specific date... its history is wa~~~~~y far before that. I understand where your getting that from(from after the war and being declared as a republic) but no korean would be pleased to hear that because all its history is still bound to it and the way you phrase that just sounds like its denying the fact that korea existed before that time... just sounds wrong...
Also the darkest history is when japan invaded korea.. not just jeju.. honestly what the japanese did to the korean people is one of the cruelest in all of the worlds history... the korean war, yes it was a dark time but if you ask any korean out there they would say the japanese invasion as the darkest time.. comfort women, raping, killing, and public humiliation of the queen, enormous massacres, torture, etc. The reason japan is one of the leading countries in biological war arms is because they've experimented with live korean people back in the days, they were the same if not worse than the nazis.. and the japanese still arent admitting to their wrong past.

Most things dealt in this clip is true. The thing which I think should be added is the sea located at the east side of Korean peninsula is `East sea', which is definitely territory of South Korea, not 'Sea of Japan'. This dispute, whether the sea of east side of Korea belongs to Korea or Japan is still a huge controversy among worldwide point of view, but the fact is that east sea belongs to Korea not Japan.

Nice video. I'd like to clarify a couple of things which may not be so apparent from this video. Korea has a recorded history of 2000 years and a cultural history of 5000 years. So, while it is true that the current iteration of the country divides the country in to north and south, prior to 1945, it was just one country. Which brings me to the second point. The Korean War was a proxy war between USSR and the USA. After Japan annexed Korea in 1910, Korea struggled for independence but still retained its solidarity. After the end of WW2, Stalin was the monster who personally trained and equipped Kim Il Sung to conquer Korea in his ambition to spread communism to all of Asia. USA was determined to stop him. It was literally two giants fighting it out in Korea with the Korean people taking the brunt of the damage. In other words, the division of Korea is a product of the Cold War and all the people of Korea are merely victims.

Did you also know that South Korea has one of the highest suicide rates in the world (highest for women, third highest for men)? Although it may seem like a booming country with innovation and luxury goods, its citizens are deeply unsatisfied and depressed on the inside. This saddens me as a Korean citizen myself.

1:51 "Number 1, South Korea claimed its independence. In 1950, South Korea took its independence and because of this proclamation, and on June 26th of the same year, North Korea invaded."
This is terrible English, it contained incorrect facts explicitly and further suggests incorrect things. I don't even know where to start to point things out.
    1. Do people find the use of "and"s in the second sentence natural?
    2. Saying "South Korea claimed its independence" may not be wrong, but it's missing the key information and indirect object, namely who it claimed its independence from. The sentences that follow make it sound like Sourth Korea seceded from North Korea by claiming independence from North Korea. More on that in 5 below.
    3. South Korea did not take independence in 1950. The entirety of Korea was liberated from Japan in 1945. South Korea's first government was established in 1948 (and I won't get into the whole provisional government thing, which is a politically sensitive issue in South Korea), with North Korea's government being established 4 months after that.
    4. it says "in 1950, South Korea took its independence and because of this proclamation...", but "taking independence" is not "proclamation" better sentence would be "in 1950, South Korea took its independence and because of this..."
    5. As already alluded to above, North Korea did not invade South Korea because South Korea claimed independence from North Korea. If anything it is Soviet-led North Korea that refused to join in the nation wide election to form a single government for the entire Korea that solidified the division, forming its own government 4 months after South did (as discussed above) so if anything, one might say it's North Korea that seceded from (the Entire) Korea.
Given the abysmal state the first couple of sentences of the substantive part of the video is in, I won't bother watching the rest, but just wanted to point these out.
Edit: Couldn't resist and watched a little bit more - Why do you talk about 50% of all Samsung cell phones being made in Vietnam? What is that statistic's relevance to the fact that South Korea's economy is booming? I mean, if you were saying something along the line of "Samsung/South Korea produces 50% of all the cell phones being produced in the world" then I can see that as a piece of statistic that supports the idea that South Korea has a strong economy and maybe technology. But what point are you trying to make by saying Samsung makes 50% of its cell phones in Vietnam?
And another nitpick on English, when you say that an "economy is booming", that conveys the sense of an economy that is doing well in a short term. I think what you really meant to say is that Korea has a strong long term economy, which isn't properly conveyed by saying "They are known for their booming economy".
"And between the two plants there, they have combined an annual 240 million units." - You mean "And between the two plants there, they have a combined annual 'production/output' of 240 million units" or some such?
My apologies, I promise I really won't watch the rest of the video.

also comfort women did not involve any women who knowing volunteered for serving sex to japanese soldiers. they were told that they would be paid a salary by doing jobs, but instead they were forced to have sex with tens of japanese soldiers in a single day. if japanese openly sought for sex slaves and some women did really volunteer as sex slaves, there is no way why japan denied its very existence for so long. also, sex slave is more correct than "comfort women." this term was used by the japanese government to downplay the horrible deeds that happened in WWII

USA is more culturally diverse and more open to foreign investments and so it is easier for Apple to get foreign funds to buy and invest in it for further development and much easier for Apple as an American company to get foreign talents from all over the world
      ...
South Korea is great economically but the USA is much multicultural environment attracting and developing very diverse talents from immigrants coming from all over the world combining the best ...

south korea's eradication of illiteracy is not really due to intense education, but much more due to the simplicity of "hangeul," the korean alphabet invented in 15th century. everyone can learn how to read and write in matter of hours, probably a day at longest (and i'm serious, ive taught some of my american friends). of course, in terms of speaking, i think it's one of the hardest to learn, but still amazing that you can learn to read/write so fast

Korea gained their independence on August 15, 1945. Aluxer has a wrong information on our independence date. Even before the 40's Koreans have revolted agaisnt teh japanese and many people sacrificed in order to reclaim their nation from Japan.
