I'm genuinely happy that he's made a movie worth watching again
woah
It's quiet. Too quiet.

I Hate Everything howdy alex
its you
its you
You're welcome, buddy! Had a great time with you guys :)
HI CHRIS, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE SO EARLY
Chris Stuckmann oh my god
fist me dad
chris!, i have a request!, could you do an analisys video on found fottage?, it would be nice to see your imput on the genre, also, check out rec and rec 2
Just kiss already
To quote Adam from 2010:
"Maybe he'll pull a Jean-Claude VanDamme effect where he'll make a bunch of shit in a row then make something that's not shit and then people go bat-shit"
You did it, Adam. You predicted the future.
I'm glad for M.Night.
But deep down, I was hoping he'd make another hilariously bad movie just so Adam can make a hilarious video about it.
ZURATAMA1324 he needs a good one very now and then so he can keep his job.
"Deep down"?
His name in the video title was the only reason I clicked on the video so fast. Haha.
I was hoping he would make more horrible movies cause I love stoner comedies.
ZURATAMA1324 me too
he's trolling Hollywood. He wants pretty good actors to play in horseshit productions so he can laugh at how made they were and how gullible the media is. He also needs to pull of a good, interesting one from time to time so he doesn't lose all his hype
He finally renewed his pact with the devil
"He made a bunch of shit in a row, then something thats not shit, then everyone goes bat shit."
I'm surprised to Batty.
had to restart the beginning because my brain couldn't process what you were saying
called it.
June Leau this
Adum, seriously. I love your channel. Don't ever stop
Same here, I jumped with joy seeing he posted a new video.
I 2nd that!
M. Night Shymalan actually made a movie that isn't hilariously bad?
+Just Jim The end is upon us!
Just Jim it's official 2016 is the craziest year ever
not only a movie that is not hilariously bad... BUT A MOVIE THAT ADUM GAVE A 7 OUT OF 10!!! WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS YEAR?!!!
I think Adum didn't hate The Visit. His judgment is impaired.
+MMODoubter yes he did!, he found it unbearable!
M. Night finally made a good movie again. I guess 8th time's the charm.
Holy shit, your M Night Shyamalan movie from ages ago is actually coming true.
"Maybe he'll make shit, and when he makes something that isn't shit, people will go batshit!"
What if that movie wasn't made by M. Night Shyamalan? That's a true twist right there!
Who is this cinematographer? because jesus christ I could watch these movies on mute and still enjoy.
It's the person from It Follows I think.
I know, I was mostly talking about that film.
The cinematographer was Mike Gioulakis.
Google McGoogle
Adam literally said in the video that the guy who did the shooting was the same person who did _It Follows_ . I'm amazed that you watch YMS, yet you're so stupid you couldn't realize that, "Maybe I can just google _It Follows_ & find the cinematographer through IMDB."
Ps I know your comment is over 8 months old, idgaf
I was scared for James McAvoy when I saw the trailer, he's a criminally underrated actor and as a fellow Scot, I want to see him succeed and make good movies. So thanks for putting my mind at ease, Adam! I'm really excited to see this now.
Wait, Shyamalan made a GOOD movie!? Isn't this one of the signs of the apocalypse!?
The next sign is that Michael Bay won't have explosions in his next movie.
And the next sign would be a decent transformers movie
SINGS of APOCALYPSE!?...
nice pun dude
Shyamalan directed Unbreakable and the Sixth Sense, both of which, in mine and many other people's opinions, are defintiely good (arguably great) movies. Also while I don't like Signs (that twist is dumb as hell and the movie overall is too pretentious for my taste), I acknowledge it's a well-made film. I guess the sign of the apocalypse came a LONG time ago in that regard.
Don't get me wrong, he did direct complete and utter shit like Lady in the Water, The Happening, After Earth and The Last Airbender, also The Village is mediocre at best (I haven't seen Devil or The Visit), but I don't get why people always call him "the worst director ever," or something along those lines, when he HAS directed three (arguably four) very good films.
@@dopestgamer5686 would you count Bumblebee as "good" or just okay by comparison to the previous films?
This Year is almost done... what surprise we have until the end ???!!
Alyson Lima
Neon pigs!!
Rogue One being shit?
Alyson Lima someone will listen to my thread on Reddit about how RUclips rewind is a piece of dick shit
Donald Trump also elected as the new Pope.
Alyson Lima The Grinch actually steals Christmas
WE ARE MAKING M. NIGHT GREAT AGAIN
So it's like a 10/10 on the M. Night curving scale then?
Sam ytdjtdmhndf stop saying stupid shit, there is no objective way
Sam ytdjtdmhndf all right, you fucking film genius, i used to think that movies could be measured objectively, because there is expertise and techniques; but as I learned more about them. You can't, and I don't care what you say, it is fucking bullshit. Objectiveness is when something can be comprobated and can't be contradicted, that applies to a lot of things, but not movies. Because no matter how many film experts you get, whether as critics or filmmakers; they will never conclude something in particular that can't be contradicted. Because it is all opinions. Also, if we take that movies can be measured objectively, then this movie is good and you can't say that it is bad, because critics and audiences are moderately acclaiming it. Sorry, but your reasoning is full of bullshit
You've done a lot to explain why films can be objectively examined, but hardly any reason why Split is an objectively mediocre film.
I really don't see that happening here. (No pun intended.) McAvoy makes or breaks the film. If it was some other actor, this movie might not have worked. I think the lead girl's performance is alright, they sort of made her a Bella Swan character, which was a negative for where she could go with the part. The older woman was also good, she was probably the character I cared most about in the film. I think Shyamalan actually did a lot to "show and not tell". While the flashback sequences were strangely thrust into the film, within their own little subplot, they work hard to let the viewer come to their own conclusion about what is actually going on. Also, I don't understand why simple cinematography is bad. There's not much you can do when you're spending the majority of the film inside in small rooms and hallways, so Shyamalan keeps it simple, resorting to classic tricks of shot placement to show the audience how to feel at any particular moment. However, something you left out in your criticism was the editing, and that is because the editing in this film is fantastic. One prominent example is towards the end of the film, by splicing all of the characters in Kevin's "house" struggling to escape while The Beast races back to the complex. I know some people aren't going to be able to get past that this film can be compared to Shyamalan's previous work, but I seriously don't think that's what people are doing. This is a good film in its own right, with a good plot, brilliantly written characters, and IMO, a distinct cinematography as well.
I liked Split, I would've loved it if not for the final act. Having "The Beast" be a literal monster and not the personification of a trauma Kevin buried was a missed opportunity IMO. I wasn't alone in facepalming in the theatre when we saw it, half the row in front was in despair over how stupid it turned..
I was literally laughing through the entire third act it was so stupid
M. Night Shyamalan movie getting a 7/10 from YMS
2016 is the year that keeps on giving
Bounced on my boy's multiple personality disorder to this for four minutes and forty seconds
Sounds sus
I'd love to see a movie where the it's the person with split personality disorder who's the hero and not the villain. It would actually be pretty cool if someone did that in the future
*cough cough* *glass* *cough cough*

His channel has blown up within the last year. My boyfriend and I use to watch him a year or two ago and it feels like we're watching a child grow up.

That's my penis crying from joy
I'm glad M. Night's returning to form.
I wouldn't call making a mediocre movie returning to form.
7 out of 10 is definitely above mediocre
_is that the girl from _*_"The Witch"!!?_* because that's awesome. what a great movie, and what a great performance-i'm really stoked to see such a great young talent do so well; "Split" has turned out to be a big huge hit.
Why am I physically relieved to hear an M. Night movie was decently good again?
I'm just waiting for the Comment Etiquette comment
supyoist let's just hope that fucker Mark Dice doesn't spoil everything
HERE AND ON YOUR GAMING CHANNEL YOU KEEP UPLOADING STUFF RELATED TO WHAT IM WATCHING. I JUST WATCHED YOUR M NIGHT AND AFTER EARTH VIDEOS

AT-ST AT-ST!
Oh I love your picture. Now I'm sad.
A good M. Night movie? Gotta wait to watch the movie before I can finish this vid.
Love all your vids YMS... also we both are subscribed sooo many of the same youtube channels.
You're one of the best review channels in youtube history man.
Thanks for uploading this. the trailer popped up as a RUclips ad and I thought "ha, an M. Night movie. can't wait for the internet to grab ahold of this." I'm glad you didn't jump on the 'assumption train' and kept and observant and open mind while reviewing
Wait, YMS is friends with Chris Stuckmann and my boy Big Money Salvia? Who would have thought?
Considering that Mark's played the song Big Money Salvia on a twitch stream before, and their similar styles of humor, it's not too shocking that YMS/Mark are friends with Big Money Salvia.
riff5fki I didn't know they played together, that's pretty cool.
Adam, your channel was the first thing I thought of when I intially saw this trailer. I, and many others, would love to see a longer version of this review if possible. Excited to see this film, especially after hearing your opinion.
I watched this film with my friends and we were turning to each other throughout the movie, honestly surprised, and were like "that's... a really artistic shot" and "wow look at that gorgeous framing." It was a very beautiful looking movie. I think it's one of my favorite horror movies I've ever seen. (Still not forgiving M. Night for how he treated Katara though)
Since it was announced I was praying this film would be good and I'm so glad it turned out how it did. I really hope this is the beginning of a upswing in M.Night's career in terms of movie making
Ahh I was hoping you'd make a video on this movie! A friend of mine really wanted to see it after seeing the previews and I thought it looked interesting, but Shyamalan's name put a bit of a damper on my expectations. I'm glad to hear you liked it and I've regained a bit of my excitement for it~
the fact that Chris saved you seats makes me unreasonably happy
Judging from the footage shown, how are the girls keeping their makeup so perfect after being kidnapped by a psychopath and locked into his rape dungeon?
Sheepy007
Because...
Movie.
Sheepy007 how is that guy a psychopath if he has dissociative identity disorder? These 2 don't really go together
Maybe James McAvoy shares his makeup when he's crossdressed into his other personality.
I dunno, MAYBE he's a psychopath because he kidnapped 3 girls?
Rachel L I dunno. Maybe psychopaths aren't the only humans that do horrible things. They're just the most ruthless
sometimes i forget that this guy is like. really really into movies. usually the movies are so bad that the main things he can focus on are the plot points, but since this one is also kinda good, it was cool to see what he thought about the cinematography, and also to hear what he had a problem with in those couple scenes
Chris and Adam together! My favorite youtubers regarding movies reviews ❤️
I'm really excited to see this, my favorite M. Night film was Unbreakable and there's never been a movie as strange as it since, really excited to see this!
This is actually right up his alley. He is totally within his element with this film. "The Visit" was good. This will be good. This is exactly the type of material he is good with. I'm excited to see this film. I still hate him for his previous fuck ups but I will give him a "one night (or film) stand" with this and go see it cause I actually miss this type of Shyamalan.
I got to interview M. Night once. Such a nice guy, unbelievably cool & friendly.
Why did you leave a third of the video at 0:37 blank? You could fit another movie that exists there, or just center The Happening and After Earth...
Yeah so weird like there is something there in that blank spot but my brain is fixed to not see it.
Shh... let the joke happen ;)
I'm proud of M Night for making a decent movie again. Hopefully he starts getting his career on track again
For years I’ve wondered, what would this movie be like with Nicholas cage 😂😂
You have no idea how long I've been trying to find this channel again. I've been searching since The Walking Dead reviews.
Yep, it's definitely that kind of year. Cubs win the World Series, Donald Trump is elected President, and M. Night Sheboiganhoigan makes a good film...
What a world we live in where 2 of my favorite movie reviewers on RUclips hang out with my Etiquette Teacher
half a million boiiiiiiiiii
wow. i was totally planning on avoiding this movie like the plague (as i did with The Visit) but now i might actually see it...Thanks Adam!
I saw the movie last night and was actually shocked on how it was good. The ending linking Split and Unbreakable confirming the sequel confused me and leaves me worried. it was almost 15 years since M. night made a good film so I don't know if he should tackle a sequel to one of his best films until he made one more good film to assure everybody he's back.
Michael Munoz agreed but now he's doing it.lets just hope for the best
You, Chris Stuckman, and Big Money Salvia all sitting next to each other? What a truly wonderful time to be alive.
7 is pretty high was this movie that much of an improvement
ttrop yes
ttrop that was my reaction. I was all, "okay. a movie I won't hate being around from a director slowly redeeming himself." then that 7. I mean, I've loved some of the movies Adum rated 7. kinda eager to see this now.
So, what? 7 is high but 6 is only an okay movie?
He gave The Sixth Sense a perfect 10, Unbreakable a 9 and Signs an 8, so there are actually three other Shyamalan movies he even graded higher.
but those movies are "before the fall"
Holy shit, Adum, Stuckman and Big Money Salvia together is a dream I never knew I had.
THANK YOU. James McAvoy's performance made me like this film.
post credit scene its UNBREAKABLE to miss
It was kinda of good, what a twist!!!
Colt Stovik it was very good IMO
Ethan Joe I was commenting on him saying it was kinda of good, but what a amazing twist.
Ethan Joe It was kinda good
just watched it today and I enjoyed it! Glad i watched your review otherwise probably wouldn't have given it a chance
Man I still feel pretty split about this movie.
BIG MONEY SALVIA
I am continually amazed at how many of my favourite youtubers know each other. Like you and Funhaus. Must be a west coast thing
I didn't think the trailers were bad at all, but I'm glad it's good.
Girl in a Shyamalan movie: "Excuse me sir, it appears as though you've entered the wrong vehicle and are clearly mistaken as to the whereabouts of your own personal vehicle by which you brought yourself to this location."
Girl in real life: "AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
2016 STRIKES AGAIN! NOW I HAVE TO WATCH A M. NIGHT MOVIE!!?
What can this year throw at me next...?
Ghostdialoog you have 21 days to find out ;)
Leia died.
I had been looking forward to seeing this movie for several months now, and I finally got the chance to do so last night. Maybe I'm just a little biased from anticipating it for so long, but really, I loved this movie, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who likes horror or thrillers.
Holy shit you chris and big money went to see a movie together i just CAME
spanks Honestly, I need a collab or a long discussion like in podcast form.
definitely
Holy shit. Alright, then. I might actually check it out. I'm trusting you on this, Adam.
"it's refreshing to see M Night Shyamalan taking risks"
How does this statement make sense?
The only thing that really pissed me off about the trailer was the whole "because they has Dissociative Identity Disorder they can change their body chemistry with their thoughts" bull.
I actually loved this movie, I actually felt connected to the characters(McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy, the other 2 girls where just so underdeveloped it was impossible to feel empathy), I felt emotion like I truly cared about the characters. **SPOILER** when Kevin finally took the light at the end and asked the girl to get the shotgun and kill him I actually cried, the though of being in that situation and waking up one day 3 years into the future with no idea what happened but the knowledge you did unspeakable things really made me feel for Kevin, and how you end up hating the two personalities and not Kevin as a hole was really interesting. You actually view the personalities as their own characters and want the the other 21 personalities to be happy and live a normal life, it takes a lot to have the audience feel empathy for the villain. But you were right about those 2 girls, they added literally nothing to the movie and I couldn't care less when they died.
I was so shocked how much I enjoyed this movie, the concept was amazing and the fact that there was no real happy ending was a great choice because there's no way a story like this could end in a happy way. It's not a perfect movie but in my opinion it's definitely M.Nights best movie since The Sixth Sense and my favourite movie of the year so far. It's a 7-8/10 for me, I know not everyone enjoyed this movie as much as I did but this movie really spoke to me.
Oh my god, he actually made a competent film for the first time in forever
6 months since the last YMS
And?
NoMz I would like another one, since those are Adam's best works
>Childhood Trauma part 2 came out less than two weeks ago
>"6 months since the last YMS"
What.
guantanamo bae ">" yes I know, but those don't have the YMS format, just the name, those are more of an top whatever list
Rin In A Bin And Almost everyone replying are being assholes, just said I miss the show ffs.
I loved when her expression when she cries that one tear........that shit had me laughing my ass of
Woah the happening was not a bad film. Any film where people leave my dream and jump off buildings is an easy 10/10
im just back from watching it at my local cinema. and it is terrible. To be short, it is as if you've the most amazing sand castle ever. It is big and strong, highly detailed and beautiful. But then when you are just about to finish it, your dog comes up and shits on it, than rolls around in the shit, while destroying the castle. Its a metaphor for the horrible ending this move had, while being pretty good for 3/4 of it.
Wow. That's great for him. Still, M. Night proves again to be one of the more odd anomalies of the film world.
Nice! Cool review, I'm actually glad M Night nailed it, hope is upon us!
Shatupon's movies always make me laugh with their weird dialogue. It's like he's not spent time around humans.
I laughed through the trailer too.
I love M.Night and I'm so happy he's got over his giant slump.
Finally a decent Shyamalan movie. It's not his best movie (Unbreakable) and defiantly not his most enjoyable move (Lady in the Water) but it was good. A nice return to form of a once great writer and director.
I probably won't watch it again but I don't exactly regret watching it at least once.
If the pope called for a new crusade, this year would be the most perfect year ever.
Finally saw Split. I thought it was ok... I'd have really liked it if it didnt have the kinda... ending stuff. But the twist, which was my first genuine M Night twist and it BLEW ME AWAY
Well done M. Night! 2016 sure is a weird fucking year!
If you havent already checked out Adums gaming channel because you dont like lets plays or are just here for the film critique, I highly reccomend it. Marks editing and humour combined with Adums is hilarious, one of the only gaming channels that manages to make me laugh out loud.
Also, Thanks for reviewing this, Adam. The trailer kinda pushed me off from it so i will be sure to watch it as soon as possible, you also reminded me I have to watch Unbreakable still.
tfw a Shaymalan movie is actually good
Congrats on passing half a million subscribers.
I'm Split on whether to go see this.
Apart the fact he helped demonize a mental disorder that is already hated by everyone.
I can't stress to you how many times I mentioned I have DID alters and someone goes "oh like the movie Split?"
For one time I'd like to see myself on the screen and not see a monster...
Shit. You aren't the first with this opinion. The trailer was so bad that I actually cringed in my seat at the theater. I am definitely surprised.
I really, really wanted this to be good. I haven't head the chance to see it yet, but I was really hoping that James MacAvoy could pull this one through, seeing as he's one of my favorite actors, and because it's such a difficult idea to pull through. I'm glad to hear Adam liked it; it gives me hope that it will lead to a better future for M. Night.
8 years and only 6 comments?
"There are things that this movie did well, but there are also things that this movie did not so well. Let's start with some things this movie did well."
Jesus Christ
You, Chris, and big money. Man, there needs to be an podcast with you three.
I do think the movie's better than "Signs." Who else is excited for "Glass"? (I'm genuinely interested and crossing fingers).
I am.
Oh my god, that picture of you, Chris Stuckmann and Big Money Salvia is amazing, I didn't know you guys knew each other , how cool! :D
M Night is evidence of the Mandela effect. There’s gotta be a universe where M Night is an awesome director and a universe where M Night is utter shit and they keep colliding.
Came back from seeing the movie after this review got me interested in it, ill be damned M night actually had a massive return to the form, i do know this movie is going to be massively divisive based off how its 3rd act goes and i dont know if its bizzarely specific twist will help. but personally i loved the build up the over the top 2nd half and thought james mcavoy actually put out one of the most impressive performances ive seen in years. Genuinely very impressed with the film and really hope m night stays like this.
Let's see that Collateral Beauty quickie, eh? May be a great vid.
Am I the only one who is surprised that YMS and internetcommentettiquette live in the same timeline
I do hate that this is the movie people like the most from him/so many love it purely because it’s awful for people, like us, who have DID. It’s a shit show. It’s almost worse that it’s realistic in some scenes but then has the system kidnap and kill others? How revolutionary, lol. Also it fetishized being an abuse victim in a weird way.
Came here looking for another System that also expected Adam to be more understanding of the background of DID, and how this portrayal was abysmal and harmful if singlets took a second look. Glad we're not the only System that watches him c:
i felt the same way and i dont have DID or even know much about it it just felt trashy
Surprised they showed his name at the title card
