Hi Daniela, let me give you a little insight to the Bokod lake situation. My family used to have such a fishing stand at this lake so I'm pretty familiar with the area. These "floating houses" are basically fishing stands, or can be considered as weekend houses that people buy to get away from the city noises, to get away from the stress and struggle of the everyday, to let out the steam/ stress and simply enjoy the peace, silence and nature. Just imagine that this "shelter" suddenly becomes a tourist attraction, being flooded by hundreds of people every day who in many cases treat it as a city park or entertainment centre, totally ruining/ damaging the purpose you originally bought this place for. Those pears transmit vibration more than you would believe, almost every step on the boards can be sensed inside the houses. The owners locking down the entrances doesn't necessarily mean they are mean or unfriendly, they simply want to enjoy their places in the same quality they originally purchased it for.
Hi Csaba, appreciate you watching this video and leaving a comment! As I said in the video, I feel sad that it comes to this, that no balance can be found for both parties to enjoy a location - but I don't think Bokod residents were at fault here. In situations like these, the problem is most likely the lack of control over how many people and which type of people are attracted to the location - the same thing happens with abandoned locations for example, where it's fine for some people to visit, but if they are visited by a great amount of people (specially does who neglect it), it eventually becomes destroyed. I have seen this happen in many different locations and I have seen disrespectful tourists who can do anything for a photo, and doing what I do, sometimes I start to wander if I am contributing to the problem by sharing hidden gem locations like I do... But then I think that there are respectful people out there who would love to enjoy the beauty of our world, and that by bringing more tourism to less known locations, it can actually help the local economy. The problem is... We never know. We never know if the location is ready to receive tourists, or how many will visit, and how respectful will they be. So it's a tough spot 😕 and the residents of any place are practically never happy about tourism, even if it brings them profit, so I do think this problem will persist for many years to come, just in different locations across the globe 😔 I honestly wish there was a simple solution to allow both residents and tourists to enjoy these kind of places but as they say, you can't please everyone 😕
I think it would be better to estabilish an area for the tourists from where they can have a look at the village without disturbing the residents, maybe even some floating houses should be there only for tourists and there should be a gate to access that place and at the gate the tourists should buy a ticket to enter!
Hungary also has a large system of National Parks. Among them, the Hortobágy is an amazing place to see wildlife. If you are interested in seeing a huge variety of birds, seeing wild horses, grey cattle, or a multitude of puszta wildflowers, this is a must-visit location. You can visit a wildlife zoo, take a safari and visit the bird hospital. And if you want to sample traditional Hungarian food, this is the place for you.
Hi Peter, thank you so much for watching the video and leaving a comment! There's two places that were all over my research in multiple sites, that didn't seem too beautiful comparing to other spots (at least in my opinion), but rather cultural places - the UNESCO World Heritage Site village of Hollokö and Hortogáby National Park. I have a tendency to prioritize places that look more appealing to the eyes as opposed to mainly cultural sites, but I highly enjoy visiting both!! I didn't get the chance to visit neither during this trip, but would really enjoy to add them on a next trip if I have got the time. Didn't know you could try traditional Hungarian food at the park so that's really good to know. Thank you ☺️☺️
@@danielazziptrips It is absolutely true, Hortobágy is unmissable. I live next to it (in Debrecen), but whenever we pass through, I always see interesting things or new animals. Debrecen also has plenty to see, including a thermal bath. But, if you want to be sure of the spectacle, you can't go wrong with the Flower Carnival in Debrecen, and Hortobágy can also fit in if you pay 1 and get 2. :D Even at home, many people don't know how big this area actually is, the area is equivalent to the 10th largest city in the country and more than half of Budapest. And yes, real country flavors, such as goulash, bean goulash, Hortobágy meat pancakes breaded, for example, not according to the original recipe, and stuffed cabbage. But you are absolutely right, it is full of little jewel boxes, where the view of nature is impressive even in settlements with a few hundred inhabitants. There are 140 settlements with less than 100 inhabitants, but there are also those where 1 person moved back to a ghost village, or where a few people lived but a Dutchman bought the house from the remaining residents and thus the village became his. You guessed it right, it's really rare that someone not from Budapest makes a video, you're doing it well, congratulations. Sorry for my english :D Good health
@@VeryCoolHUN Your English is amazing - you have absolutely nothing to be apologizing for! Thank you so much for such a great description of the area! I didn't know that Debrecen had a Flower Carnival and after googling it, it looks quite impressive!! I absolutely love visiting almost inhabited places - do you know any names of such places? Like the ones you mentioned where only one person moved back? We have a village in Portugal where only a family lives and i find those places very charming in a way.
My wife and are going to immigrate from the Netherlands to Hungary in August and I totally agree. We bought 2 beautiful houses in the country side and I don't get why people think Budapest is all there is to see in Hungary. This country is stunningly beautiful beyond belief and the people are very kind. Tourist should really go to Budapest for 2 days en stay in the country side for a week, cause it is stunning

I have all of them on my list and definitely going to include many of these on my video of top places to visit in the country 😍😍 Szentendre actually reminds me of a town I visited in Brazil!

Do you know that until 1920, Hungary was three times as big, full of mountains, the entire Carpathian basin? Only the vile great powers took 2/3 of it, we who for centuries protected Europe with our blood from the Turks, Tatar or others, did the halved population have to suffer such an injustice?
History shows time and time again that sadly, life is unfair and some countries have suffered a lot throughout history. I have a half-Hungarian friend and we were talking about this the other day. Looking at how much was once Hungary and how much it is now it's definitely shocking

Prices are getting higher and higher these days, but it's probably still very cheap for you if you get your income in EUR. One person usually spends around 125 000 Forint monthly for housing, food and entertainment in a smaller city, but you could probably get lower in expenses easily if you don't have too much requirements.

THANK YOU. Although I appreciate Budapest as our capital city, I don't like the fact that most of the visitors consider it as Hungary. I was born and raised in a small city not too far from Budapest, but somehow Budapest always remained like another world to me. Even though I used work and live there for a few years, I could never get used to it and was always longing back to my small city. So, seeing Budapest doesn't mean at all you have seen Hungary.
Nyílván, ha világvárost akarsz látni kis hazánkban, akkor csak Budapest jöhet szóba, de a világ nem csak ilyen nagyvárosokból áll, ezért érdemes körülnézni vidéken is :D
Totally! As someone who was born and raised in the countryside, I totally get that. Big cities are just very different to the calm locations outside of them. It doesn't mean that big cities aren't great, but they are not the entire picture of a country ☺️ thank you so watching and leaving a comment, really appreciate it!

Thank you so much!! I am a bit of a location geek so when I start digging into an area/country, I don't stop until I am convinced that I know everything about that place 🤣🤣 (even though I am sure I don't because there's always so much to find!) In Hungary, I found over 1000 locations that I actually think are worth visiting - way too many! 🤯 Thank you so much once again for your kind words Máté, I have been to Vienna about 10 years ago, would love to go back and document it this time - it's such a beautiful city!!
Of course it would be fine to have more videos about more places: Györ, Szeged, Pécs, Pannonhalma, Tihany, Hortobágy, Visegrád etc. etc. but honestly I was shocked to see how you treated Esztergom in the first place. I appreciate that you didn't have much time to visit the city but why did you completely fail to mention its historical importance? It was one of the very first political capitals of the kingdom and it is still its religious capital to this day (hence the enormous cathedral-basilica for such a small town). Even more importantly, cardinal Mindszenty, a national hero, is buried in the crypt. All of this is woth a mention, indeed more than a mention.
Hi Yagi, thank you for watching and leaving a comment. All of those places mentioned are definitely on my list and I have now done a video about the top 20 places in Hungary (in my option), which you can watch here: ruclips.net/video/A7dujwz4bGQ/видео.html In general, I didn't really get into the history of any of the places I mentioned. Sometimes it's hard to make travel videos for a series of reasons: you have to do a great research, visit the place, record the place, do more research on the place, and then try to put all of that into a video. Some people worry about the beauty of a location, some about the history, some about the attractions... and it's practically impossible to cover everything - not to mention that no matter what I mention or do, there's always something I am definitely leaving out. I apologise if you felt that way. Esztergom is stunning and that was the message I wanted to put across.
I have a considerable amount of locations down South in my list, but I have to confess that have a lot more on the north of the country. Any places in specific that you would recommend in southern Hungary? ☺️
Nice video, I'm glad you liked it here. 🤗 I live in Budapest, but to be honest I prefer some other cities these days. To your question: yes, I'd be interested to see/hear what you found the best places to visit or things to do in the country.

It's not just Bokod. People in my country are allergic to you stepping on their pier, even if there is nothing to damage there. The secret is, that we are very reclusive people. Even if you met a lot of friendly hungarians, let me tell you, they are secretly judging you, and they can't wait for you to leave. If we have something nice, we don't wanna share it. It's OURS and you are just invading. And I don't just mean tourists, it means our neighbors, distant relatives we don't necessarily like, a stray dog or a cat. If reading this makes you feel like I have a negative opinion on my own people, don't be mistaken... it's not just a feeling, its real, I don't like most of my people.
Hi there, thanks for watching and leaving a comment ☺️ I will be honest, the same way Budapest does not represent Hungary, I believe you cannot represent your people. I am absolutely against putting people in a box and from all of the 100/110K Hungarians that have watched my videos about their country, I had everything but the impression that they did not want me there. True, they could just be pretending to be friendly but let's be honest, this is the Internet and most people on internet have no filters and are super quick to judge and criticize. From about 300 comments, I might have 10 hate comments, which is far less than I've had in many other videos. Hungarians have been everything but hateful towards me (in general) and have been some of the kindest people here on my channel. And as for the people I have met and interacted with when visiting the country, I was never badly treated. I felt a lot more at home than I did when I visited a popular holiday destination named Cornwall in England, where many people tend to generally don't like any visitor (foreigner or not) - but where I also met one of the kindest souls I've ever met. I might be naive and extremely positive, but life is short and I would rather celebrate the human kindness I experience and the good interactions I have with other people than constantly judging or doubting other people's actions. Even if they are pretending or judging, at the end of the day, I live happily knowing that my intentions are good and believing that there's hope for humanity instead of living bitterly like some people I know, who cannot trust others and are always second guessing them. And while I know this makes me naive and more prone to be used, I would rather see the world this way. But in the end, this is just my opinion, and you've got yours too, which I respect. Have a wonderful weekend ☺️
@@danielazziptrips I wish we where like how we present ourselves to foreign visitors. Living here for almost 31 years, made me very salty about my own people. @@sajisama24 I believe you. You have your reasons to think that way and I am sure you see a side of your people that I was fortunate enough not to see (just like it happens with my own people too). I hope you still found good people to have in your life 🥰
@@danielazziptrips Ohh I definitely do! Its not all doom and gloom, its just seeing what the locals did with Bokod made me speak my mind. Cos they could have used that opportunity to do something big, revitalize the area, improve what they already have to be even more beautiful. Cos the thing is, those are fishing houses. They are temporary locations. Its not like a bunch of tourists on the weekend would harm their living quality cos they don't live there. At least most of them don't. In fact, they can cash in and rent those out as AirBnB. But nope. A bunch of tourists taking photos on the piers won't scare away the fishes. Its just fishing culture in Hungary became this "If you see me fishing, don't come closer than 100-200 meters, or you scare away the fish, and break my peace, and I will yell angry and throw beer bottles at you". Meanwhile in every other country, fisherman can sit in perfect peace, with joggers and playing children around. Sorry for the rant!
@@sajisama24 you don't have to apologize, your rant was somewhat entertaining tbh eheheh I totally understand... To me it makes me sad but I cannot talk much about it because I don't know the whole picture. In London for example, there are people who are happy to have tourists take photos in front of their colourful houses while others prefer to keep their privacy and get really angry at them. It's difficult because everyone is different, gets offended by different things, and the same way, tourists can be pretty nasty and disrespectful some times. But while I do get it, I also feel very sad that it comes to this - that they couldn't find a balance for both sides to enjoy (the residents and tourists) which is very sad. And unfortunately this is happening a lot, all over the globe. Even in areas where people live off tourism, they complain about the tourists all the time, ignoring the fact that they depend on them to live (which wasn't the case of Bokod, but I assume they could definitely profit from tourism as you said). I guess this happens because you can't control the amount and type of tourists that come to these areas most of the times, and it becomes very overwhelming for residents who have to deal with their rubbish and noise. 😔 So yes, I wish there was an easy solution for cases like Bokod because I have seen a fair share of them and it makes me sad every time :/ And glad to know you have good people in your life 🥰
Of course not only Budapest is Hungary or the other way around there is a different Hungary than Budapest. The same way as England have so many different faces and it is not only London.

That is just a video of Jews dancing in Budapest 😅 My friend, I tried explaining to you before and apparently I was unsuccessful, and at this point I don't even know if you're serious or not, so I am going to give up 🤣😅 hope you have a great rest of the weekend and once again yes, Budapest is IN Hungary, but it's not Hungary 😅
No one said it wasn't. I said it myself (in the description of this video and in my other Hungary videos) 🤷🏻♀️ Budapest is Not Hungary ≠ Budapest is Not in Hungary
Sorry I am confused. I did not mention Szeklerland nor Romania on my video. Unless you're making a reference to the title in which case, you have missed the point of the video 🤔🤔
@@bujdososzekely it actually is correct my friend. "Budapest is not in Hungary" would be incorrect, because Budapest is the capital city of Hungary. But "Budapest is not Hungary" has a completely different meaning and it is correct. It means that Budapest is not a representation of Hungary and Hungary is much more than Budapest alone - but if you watched the video in full you would have understood that 🤔 So in summary Budapest is Not Hungary ≠ Budapest is Not in Hungary The first one states that one is not another and the second one states that one is not located in another (which obviously is). Hope this makes sense and have a great weekend.
@@bujdososzekely mate, I literally just explained to you that "Budapest is Hungary" does not mean the same as "Budapest is in Hungary". I never said Budapest was not in Hungary. I do not have to visit a doctor, you have to attend English classes.
I recommend you to visit Pécs, with it's beautiful mosque standing in the centre of the town. Pécs was also a cultural capital of the EU in 2010. The city is also famous about it's ancient Christian tomb and television tower standing on the top of Mecsek Hill! One of the best place in Hungary I say, since I'm living there.

@@boglarkaszoradi4504 that would be a great idea for sure, and then everyone would be happy with the outcome and the area could profit a bit too!

In general, I didn't really get into the history of any of the places I mentioned.
Awsome video! I think you should visit the southern part too and make a video about it! There are lots of amazing places there!

@@информациясовсехсторон I think it's because it takes "too much work" to do proper research on each country. I get told off all the time because I spent "too long" researching a place before visiting. But it's basically thanks to my research that then those people get to see the nice things we get to see ☺️ most tourists are happy with just seeing the more popular places and call it a day, while others, like me, do invest time and try to get to know the country a bit better. It's basically different ways of traveling
Veszprém will be the European Capital of Culture in 2023, it's a really nice place and close to the Balaton wine region (Balatonfüred, Tihany) I think it's worth a visit. You are the only one who understand this. Budapest is NOT Hungary. Literally, many tourists are blind when travelled, and always forget to enjoy before running far away.
This actually happens in many different countries and it makes me sad. Probably because most people would rather just go anywhere and not have the trouble to search what to see and do, so I am hoping that I can share with people that there's so much more outside the capitals!

Not just because of my personal experiences, but how they behave in public, on social media, in politics...etc
Thankfully you did not have time to experience the bad side of Hungarians.
😔 So yes, I wish there was an easy solution for cases like Bokod because I have seen a fair share of them and it makes me sad every time :/
And glad to know you have good people in your life 🥰

@@bujdososzekely it actually is correct my friend. "Budapest is not in Hungary" would be incorrect, because Budapest is the capital city of Hungary.
