    I had a 2001 cougar xr7 which is basically the same car mechanically, I had a bunch of bolt ons and she dyno’d at 247 whp , the cold air intake with the catbacks made it sound beautiful….. she held her own against a lot of top imports

    My 98 CVST just got its first clutch job after 310,000 miles...it needs a rear bumper which is next to nothing to finding...i still love the sound of secondaries opening...i have an RX8 and a Mazdaspeed6...but there is something about that 2.5 that i love!!!

    I drove a regular Contour v6 in college and I am currently rebuilding my '98 silver CSVT with my dad. There's just something about this car and engine that is so endearing. t's been a long time coming but I can't wait to finally be driving a CSVT for the first time!

    I don't remember my 1998 Contour SVT being this sluggish. It was driven to 143 mph one time in a remote location by a trained driver with me in the passenger seat. Mine was leased and had the drive train, engine, trans replaced at 300 miles with no further problems. Returned at 63K and 3 yrs.

    I’ve got a 2000 tropic green CSVT that I got last year as my first car. Ever since I first found out about this car I just had to have one. I bought it from the original owner he was a cool guy. It’s got a lot of issues but I plan on fixing them eventually.

    Water pump issues were only on the 95-96 cars as they had plastic impellers which Ford had updated for all cars in 96-97 so no SVT Contour has such issue.
    The power unlock has no issue, if you're having issue you fab's battery is fading. Window switch failure however is common as the switches tend to carbon up but if you take them apart and clean them they typically work like new.

    • @spridlechimchim9958

    I have a question. I'm trying to find a diff for my contour svt and I can't seem to find one anywhere. Now I've heard that the early model Ford focus has the same transmission you think I can use a diff out of that car instead?

    Had a 99 and was a very fun car. If not for Ford's bad quality they could have taken the market, trans was tearable and wiring was cheap 😡

    • @driversreview
      @driversreview  4 года назад +1

      Wiring issues seem to be a common theme with the Contours . . . too bad because this car had a ton of untapped potential.

    U should get doug demuro to review it. People need to be exposed to the ford contour, the best handling car ive ever driven and ive owned lots of cars. And in just my opinion, the v6 does sound nice, just isnt very reliable or fun to work on. Good video tho, subbed

    I drive a 98 csvt for my daily it's a fun car for dd but I can see why it didn't do well selling trying to go up against a E36 m3.there not even in the same universe. They should have marketed it more towards just a fun 4 Dr sedan,and also gave it more power as it's kinda a turd for an SVT car.also the best SVT even made is the Terminator.

    Wonderful car. Had a '99 Mondeo ST200 as it was called here. Unfortunately went to the scrap yard as Ford are useless when it comes to rust protection.
    BTW, BWM M3 have never had a V6, a straight 6 is what BMW used back then(and now in other models).

      @@driversreview No one knows because they weren't advertised that well (like the Contour SVTs) but they could be found in "Ford Motorsport" ads from 1984-1985.
      Only 10,000 would be made (about as many as the SVT Contours)
