As a woman catheters are the worst for nosocomial infection. Ive had six different bacteria growing in my urinary tract all from indwelling or straight cath for specimen. The external is jusy as bad. It made me feel like someone was tickling my vagina andnit never stopped
So sorry you have had the need for so many urinary catheters. We feel lucky not to have to use them very often during hospice care - only for retention or an extreme wound needing to be dry or a family that just can't do brief changes.
