I've seen it with my own eyes in Fort St John, BC Canada. After 30 years of nothing but disease and dental dysfunction. Hey what about a dental hygienist in every public school system lets start there. This would go so far in preserving the planet. However, the clearcutting, monoculture, double talk, greenwashing and corruption, all inspired by the 'love of money' is spot on.
2:27 all of Europe? We in Iceland have more than enough electricity and heating.
Thank you so much for the excellent reporting on the truth
Time for Canadian Liberal government to go... must be changed ASAP.
I was devastated from the top of Silver Star Mountain looking out at what was once pristine forest, now ugly clear cut. That's going to be great for tourism. Made me not want to go skiing again, why would I pay all that money to look at a blight.
It’s also gonna increase landslides and desertification in an already dry area!
Well, there is a leadership challenge in the BC NDP, I think it is time to bring this to the current BC NDP leadrship
Good luck, its time to vote them out.
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha
Thank you for this program. The younger generation are the future of Mother Earth Wonderful work We thank you to you both. & thank you Fifth Estate fer bringing this to light to the world!!!
It was called "the Wet Coast" until the '90s
After clear-cutting the coastal rainforest, it stopped raining much in this region, dis-including recent flooding on the Southern Mainland, not the kind of precip useful to farms, industry, or residents.
This shouldn't be a surprise, but most voters live far from such ancient natural remnants, houseplants are their closest understanding of our relationship with nature with big money keeping it that way.
@@darkmadder9897 I live on the North Coast of B.C. It stopped raining? Are you on drugs?
@@truckguy6.7 You waited until it finally rained!😀 I live here too! And it's organic premium hybrids when I self-med.
drought denial, really that's a posture? Do you donate to an NGO for that cause?
@@darkmadder9897 doesn't rain as much????!!!! Are you high???
Its funny, where is reduction of energy by each individual, meat and dairy free diet 50% of the time. Of all the people I know, not a one has really changed. I'm a dental hygienist, walked to work and back, vegetarian diet 50 % of the time. And I floss and effectively care for my teeth health etc. Ill put it to you this way, until all of the developed world are flossing etc etc etc. We will never get on top of this. Imagine if we all flossed had free 2 x year dental hygiene visits within our healthcare. Go so far as to fluoridating the water and BINGO = healthy un-decayed teeth and NO GUM DISEASE! I've seen it with my own eyes in Fort St John, BC Canada. After 30 years of nothing but disease and dental dysfunction. Hey what about a dental hygienist in every public school system lets start there. This would go so far in preserving the planet. Lets face it if we have such ill will and neglect and little knowledge about our own teeth. Steven Harper PM had an ill fitting #21 crown. Best dental coverage in the country. Looked awful. What does that tell you and we want to fix the planet. Start here second to the planet, its one of the few things we all have in common and for the most part 100 % a preventable disease. Most people brush their teeth daily but haven't a clue why or how to! Kind of like our planet!
Very important documentary. thank-you.
Possibly why lumber is so expensive
You have what you were asking for. You wanted it to change quickly, and way too fast doesn't mean it's for the better.
Yes. The best example of the need for speed is the rush for electric bicycles by environmentalists. Regular bicycles are just not fast enough in this day and age. Using the electric boost just to go uphill or to pedal against a strong isn't good enough anymore. Now policy makers have to consider setting speed limits for electric bicycles!
@@bovellois there is a maximum speed limit of 15 mph on an electric bike ,at least in the UK this was set in 1984ish with the C5
@@davidmunro2077 good to know, thanks.
This is definitely not ok I would like to see this come up in parliament I hope you get somewhere with this thank you for what you do
I live in interior BC. That lady doesn't know what she's talking about when she says we're on the verge of losing our forests. I'm not talking old growth here, but as for forest cover in Canada, let's just say we have an awfull lot.
Finally someone in the comment section with half a brain. Thank you
Say what?
You're kidding ?
@@dianemorrell9638 No, I'm not kidding. Do you live in a major urban area or do live in the vast wilds/forest areas of BC?
@@ickster23 You don't know what you've got til it's gone. Just sayin
April 14th 2023 it continues, criminal, the BC govt is ransacking the province with these equally guilty comanies.
The name Drax seems weirdly appropriate 😶
You are going after the least visible destroyers of primary forest
All those hemlock logs could of being use for our homes in North America. Worth lots as finishing lumber, and provide a lot more jobs. We the people are being ripped off.🙂
Well researched and presented story thank you for informing all of us, we absolutely need to put a stop to this immediately!!!!!!!!!!!! We all need to raise awareness of this issue and call for action!
I'm from UK. Had no idea about this I will share.
You must be a recluse, 😁
Shame on the such companies and the government that's deaf and blind to their own country's responsibility
I love how hemp is conveniently skipped over?
Always! And that is getting old!
How does hemp work/help
@@knittingmum3657 you can grow 3 crops a season and covert it to combustible pellets, and it corrects soil imbalances at the same time.
@@wildtwindad so 3X the CO2 and still not enough BTU's to be profitable for shareholders. Pellets hasten climate change, BC loses more jobs to clear cuts while smoke bathing instead of sun bathing. Axe Drax save our forests.
@@wildtwindad you obviously haven't grown much weed (hemp)
You are lucky to grow one crop a year outdoors in Canada. Like corn, hemp is a heavy feeder and is always grown with some form of fertilizer. Other amendments, such as lime are necessary to grow hemp . Forest soils are too acidic to grow hemp without being limed to significantly alter pH.
Hemp is an amazing plant, and can be used for food, oil, fibre, and medicine. It is not however the panacea.
GJ. CONNELLY AND JIM PARFET. !!!!
GOOD JOB !!!!
Don't cut down all the trees. Trees are our planets lungs!
So is grass and algae. Take a look at t map of BC and note how much is still untouched.
already the electricity bill is going up in europe and shutting down these power plants will make it worse

This has to be stopped.
Maybe quit using your laptop. Stop heating your home. Walk and dont keep farm animals either. Have fun now.
Thank you for covering this topic!!!
What a nightmare world we are in.
If it’s not too expensive to take the trees out of an area, it’s not too expensive to take the waste while the infrastructure is there. Trax is talking absolute BS! And just for the accountants, build that removal into the costs of your project and sell price of the logs up front!
Thanks to the FIFTH ESTATE for this
Too bad you did not interview any hereditary chiefs for their thoughts.
Come to Saskatchewan, we have aspen and white poplar that grows to maturity in 20 years and never a shortage of it .
Poplar and aspen have very low BTU content and are not suitable as fuel
@@briandavies741 I can't agree: all cellulose at the same moisture content has more or less the same calorific value ton for ton
This is madness.
So we won't sell the UK clean, friendly LNG but we will cut down every carbon reducing tree in BC? UM maybe JT should be questioned on this?
And when our province is completely Bare who will help us AND who will help all the wildlife that have NO home left.
Forestry is Provincial, so as much as U have a woody for JT, it's not his decision
Finally the CBC told the truth. Thanks
The actual people operating the logging operations need to Stop...and massive tree planting industries started
Replanted forests do not match the diversity of an actual forest and takes decades to reestablish even a marginal habitat. There's really no way to fully repair damaged forests other than time, a lot of time as in centuries.
Justin said he was going to plant 3 billion trees, this would be a good place to start.
Yes, a great place to start. Why hasn't the US gotten involved. Canada and Americe both are on the North American Continent. So why have we not tried to stop this? I know we all want to use our computer's, games and huge TVs. We need to start thinking about the near future. Our future is going to look like our past if we don't do something quick
BC plants millions of trees every year. About two for every one harvested. And then of course there is the natural regeneration. Like all these natural mono culture lodgepole pine forests are.
And how many forests will be left as more forest fires happen. Which sadly is when not if that will happen.
Forest fires are healthy and essential. Stop following the ridiculous narrative.
More forest fires are not happening, there's no shortage of trees.
I was wondering what those barren patches of lands in BC when I was pouring over google maps. Now, from this great investgative documentry I know it is man-made and not natural.
And that waste material actually feeds the forest floor for regrowth and if you move all that it causes desert like conditions
We won't be happy till it's all gone it's sad 🥺 all about money 💸💰 can't eat money 🤑 bless those ppl that try to protect it from Toronto 🇨🇦 Migwech 🔥🍁#savethetrees protect Mother Earth 🌍 it's so important 💯
