Basically the 4:00 is an hour of local news, the 5:00 is a half hour of local news, then national news at 5:30, then the evening local news at 6:00. Each newscast features updates on earlier stories, plus each newscast has its own special segments 4pm has more entertainment stuff, 5pm features the "Living Green with ABC7" segment, and the 6pm features the "I-Team Investiagtive Report" (Focuses on local corruption and cold-case stories)
Since the late 1920s, all stations east of the Mississippi River start with W, and those west of it start with K, In Wisconsin, all stations start with W, except one small town station which started around 1923 (KFIZ). They're called "Call letters", read about it. The Network Newscasts are shown live in the Eastern Time Zone (6:30) and Central (5:30). In the Central they return to local news a half hour later. It's delayed west of here. There's few programming alternatives for TV stations today.
This Is ABC 7 News. Chicago's Number #1 News. With Hosea Sanders. Judy Hsu. Weather With Meteorologist Tracy Butler. And Roz Varon's Traffic. This Is ABC 7 News. This Morning.
Because they were "grandfathered" in, being that those stations dated back to the 1920s. I just mentioned that about KFIZ. All those stations you mentioned are among the oldest stations. I think Dallas had a radio station called WFAA that was one of the early ones, that doesn't call itself that anymore but its once-partnered TV station (Channel 8) still does. And KDKA is the nation's second-oldest (or oldest, if you dispute WWJ's claim).
In addition, "W" was the designation for stations East of the Mississippi and "K" for stations West. Before that rule was firmly established, some stations East took "K" calls (like KDKA, Pittsburgh) and others West took "W" calls (like WMT in Cedar Rapids, IA and WHO in Des Moines, IA)
They also need a new set now...I mean honestly, I can NEVER tell what year I'm looking at whenever I see WLS-TV. Set almost looks as if it's from 2004 or 3! The music could honestly stand a change as well.
Well in the United States TV, & radio, call letters are assigned by the Federal Communications Commission. There are corresponding government agencies in other countries that assign call letters in those countries. The "W" and "K" designations for U.S. radio stations go back to the Federal Radio Act of 1934. By international treaty, other countries and areas have their own distinctive designations - "C" in Canada, "X" in Mexico, etc.
I'm in the UK and I love news, but I wouldn't want it at 4pm, 5pm and 6pm. Am I right in thinking that the network news with Diane Sawyer slots into the schedule at 6:30pm? What does ABC in New York do when the state output is broadcast? Does GMA continue for west coast viewers beyond when morning ends in Chicago or is it a taped re-run of the east coast show with news opt outs? Also, what states have ABC 2,3,4,5,and 6? Finally what does the "W" stand for in affiliate station names?
Love abc7 news so perfessonal than the other news stations Love the opening so pretty! the only news station the is more perfessonal abc7 opening is better than WGN 9 news!!!
I am so late on this; the 11am will b replaced by WCL, where it was bumped frm the 9am time slot to make way for Live: W/ Kelly & Michael. So sad that Silvia isn't going to be on WLS anymore :(

My 9 year-old daughter is autistic. I don't know what it is about this, but she's been watching over and over tonight!
I am British and autistic too. I like the different presenter lineups on the same repeated tune
The most serious Roger Rose ever sounded. Amazing smooth consistent delivery, perfectly matching. Bring back the new Voice of God.
I use to see ABC7 CHICAGO. OMG! It's been years seeing this version as a child growing up! 😮😅😅😅😅😅😂😂😂😂
I miss all these anchor teams in these and miss the theme music! It was so good then.
Yes, especially this theme music.
That anchor team, wow. Amazed they are all there, I remember them when I was a kid in the early 90s and Jose had hair.
Currently in this year, Alan Krashesky is on ABC 7 Eyewitness News at 5 and 6 PM with Cheryl Burton and 10 PM with Judy Hsu

Last July I went to Chicago for mission work and I passed by one of their news vans.

Also @ 0:32, it was 51 degrees in Chicago at 11 AM on January 31st.
I Love ABC7 Chicago!
Tintino Gaillon I do too! Love going back to my hometown
WGN is Chicago's number 1 news
Depends on the newscast. WGN is number 1 in the morning news. The evening news Channel 7 is the most watched.
@@joejonas3684 yeah I guess
Roger Rose and Jim Rose are great for Chicago!

The one thing I noticed was the morning and 6pm opens said "WLS-TV Chicago" instead of "WLS-TV/WLS-DT Chicago" like the other opens. I wonder why..
the use the regular cut for 11a 4p 5p 6p 10p but they use a different cut for the "This Morning" edition
2005, but with a few in-house elements added more recently.

As a person in the northwest suburbs of Chicago you have made a great video
Iconic!!!
I like the walk at 3:51. It reminds me of Law and Order.
They can't be that old, they are 720p HD graphics.
Is it just me, or do they use a different cut of News Series 2000 Plus for the 6:00 and 10:00 news?
2001-2012? That's a really freaking long winter if you ask me!! :D
ABC 13 KTRK is Houston... number 1 in Texas!
Wish They Kept This
@Theatlsou Since WMAQ updated their graphics, WLS needs to compete!
wow abc news is so perfesonal
Your spelling isn't.
How old are these graphics? they look a little dated, but not as dated as WMAQ
