They really are one of the most consistent bands since I got into them in high school around the early 2000s. I get genuinely excited for their new albums , it's always such great song writing .
Yeah I can see how Metallica (and I would assume Iron Maiden) influenced Teppei’s writing in the earlier albums. The opening dissonant riff in The Messenger always reminded me of Where Is My Mind. Same with the lead riff in Hurricane as well.
It’s funny watching this cause Metallica was my gateway into playing guitar but I got inspiration from Thrice leads when I was in a band. I guess I need to listen to the Pixies more.
Thrice and Pixies are two of my favourites of all time. Just remember people, without Black Francis and friends, we wouldn't have had Nirvana and so many other brilliant bands.
