The Insane Dinner at The World's Most Remote Restaurant

- This was the craziest restaurant experience I've ever had and I've been to some absolutely insane places in the past.
Check out the restaurant here: koks.fo/
And also do make sure you go to Greenland at some point in your life because it's truly a special place ❤️
#finedining #crazyfood #restaurant #foodreview #greenland #remote #michelin
If Julian Slowik taught me anything, it’s that you NEVER go to a secluded restaurant in the middle of nowhere by boat to a place ran by a highly methodical brilliant chef.
Haha thats a very good reason
Yes Chef!
That's the first thing I thought when I saw this! Don't stay for dessert! LMAO
Ask for the cheeseburger
the menu did to chefs what jaws did to sharks.
It’s 600 dollar if you don’t stay in the hotel, and around 900 if you do. If anyone was wondering
Wouldn't say affordable but cheaper than I expected, definitely not out of reach for a once in a lifetime experience
Yeah. I mean $600 for fine dining in one of the remotest places on earth is not too bad. I mean, even if they use Greenlandic ingredients they still have to ship them to the restaurant.
This video and the restaurant in general give off strong "The Menu" movie vibes. I wouldn't even be surprised if they killed all the customers off at the end and used them as ingredients for the next meal. 🎥🔪🍔
Why would they do that? The customers are not part of the local terroir. I'd rather have reindeer blood and whale blubber than tourist blood and blubber.
@aryangoyal9556 I also came to make The Menu reference, but what makes this horror film unique is that it does not resort to cannibalism, and that is why it is a great subversion.
ILmAooOooO. ....!!!
actual. mate the drinks and chips at the boat. fuck is he gonna die?
as soon as he ate the snacks on the boat I already thought "Wait, isn't this like the Menu?"
God I love KOKS!
Same I’m a big KOK lover ❤
Wait a second…
Me too😺
Ich auch 👃😉
Wow isolated resteraunt just like the one from THE MENU! XD
Even though this is so reminiscent of the restaurant in The Menu…new bucket list destination!
Not every high end restaurant in a beautiful remote location deserves to be compared to or dismissed as like The Menu. This clearly is none of that and people really living off the land
ISNT IT! But he come back
@@redeye1016There are definitely superficial similarities, so one can be forgiven for making the comparison. However, the food here isn't served with the level of contempt for the diner that The Menu parodied. It's playful and has "weird" ingredients but it's more tasteful and down to Earth than some of the weird shit you see in these restaurants.
did you get the reservation? cuz i went to the website and it seems all the seats are reserved upto 100 years
yeah so that too @@vatsalsrivastav5175
The food started in the boat before reaching a remote town of 50; it gave me The Menu vibe. I hope they don't have a secret menu with a course called The Mess or Tyler's Bullshit because that wing dish reminded me of Julian Slowik's angel investor.
Felt the exact same way about the wings.
Mr Varick aka THE FALLEN ANGEL
The ptarmigan looked exactly like the island from the menu
Ahh awesome, i was there just a week ago! Razor beak and sunchoke were definitely my favorites. We came with helicopter, straight from 18 days in a tent camp doing field work and eating canned food- the contrast was just mind blowing. We sailed back to Ilulissat in the evening, rough seas, weaving past massive icebergs, just epic. Great video, you really captured the essence of the place! Hope you got too see some of the whales and other wild life while you were there!
I’m sure lmao
@SuperZbros yeah it's a huge flex but why instantly doubt everyone 😂
Because the odds of someone who lives that type of lifestyle spouting off so hoity-toity in a RUclips comment section is exceptionally low, and even what’s said is true, it’s tone deaf, if you can’t see that you’re tone deaf too and it’s not worth explaining to you, you’re either normal and can see it or you’re broken and you can’t lmao.
@@SuperZbrosK kid, jealous much but still stupid arent you
@@SuperZbroscheck his profile. he’s got a nordic name and likes food videos. doesn’t seem impossible
I was here expecting the final course to be an elevated s'mores dish. 😅🔥
this is documentary quality videography! IM SO IMPRESSED!! such a fascinating video
thank you so much! yeah it's definitely one of the videos i'm proudest of!!
Such a well made journey to Koks! I enjoyed every second of the video. I felt like it was a great presentation. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
I love these videos! Interesting to see the different types of greenlandic food & how each one is presented, just amazing to see how all unique these restaurants are, not just for the food but how they embrace culture & how each are differently designed, how you get there, stay & how the experience was. I think I’d be worried in the back of my mind thinking about a certain movie where they also took a boat to a remote restaurant.. btw your cute 🤭
now THIS is a dining experience. An actual beautiful journey to and from the restaurant. The presentations on those dishes were spectacular!
This channel is so well produced. Really almost put you there. Only thing is common 20k viewers and they can't just give a like. Anyway's looking forward what next you explore!
This is a type of kitchen I strive to work in, absolutely amazing presentation, flavor profiles and the fact it represents the local cuisine with a michelin twist
serious question: How much did it cost for the entire experience?
from their website a standard suite & single person experience is 8300 danish krone which is about $1185
(but that doesn’t include the plane ticket & boat ride)
@@jamie___steele Interesting. Normally I'm a bit iffy about astronomically expensive experiences. I have no doubt the food is good, but I've been to many high end restaurants and more often than not, the quality of the food has not met the price they ask for.
@@jamie___steele honestly, for two meals and a night of lodging, not too bad! might consider going
@@yamchayakuyea that price isn’t bad considering there’s a villa included
You are incredibly blessed to have this opportunity. Just as I was to live in Iceland for two years although I was in the USN. I"d go back in a heartbeat.
Sounds absolutely amazing. I've always wanted to go to Greenland and this is yet another reason to do so
At the end of your video you asked, "Was it worth it?" In order to determine the answer we need to know what was spent! So, how much did this meal/adventure cost?
True. I wonder why he dint mention the price at all
Tasting menu is at 3200 danske kroner or 428,76 Euro/455,31 US-Dollar
@@tortepasti2 Well if its about 450USD it is normal in the High end restaurants, and I would love to try it once!
no, it wasnt worth it
@@tortepasti2 I wonder how much that covers. Sounds reasonable for michelin star meals, accommodations, and transit
The food looks marvelous. But it can only be a one in a life time experience because I don't think if I ever spend money to still feel hungry.
It’s a 19 course meal, you’re not going to feel hungry afterward. All of those portions add up to a satisfying and satiating meal.
@@crazymf7041That last course may involve a lot of fire and possibly death
Wow you've become one of my favorite RUclipsrs (if one can still call you that). You're videos are great and I love to see longer videos from you :D
thank you!! i'm still getting the hang of long form videos but many more to come :)
Most of that menu scares me but I'd try it all. But speaking as a hearty meat eater, geez, that's a lot of animal. I hope nothing was endangered. Especially the whale. I wouldn't be comfortable eating whale meat.
Yes. Iceland has not exactly been very kind to the whales. Here's hoping the recent suspension of whaling leads to a permanent end to the practice.
i know im childish when i laughed at koks
The colors and videography are just outstanding. Thank you for taking me on this journey.
I'm sitting here in my room with my mouth open, totally awestruck and thoroughly inspired by every single piece of that culinary art. I mean this is truly special. I feel emotional right now.
Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t really want to eat fish or shrimp heads.
I don't have the adjectives to properly express how magnificent Greenland is, or how much I'd love to (slowly and appreciatively) eat everything I've just seen. And I love adjectives.
This is about 1185 dollars but it only has 19 dishes.. I would definitely do the interesting and eccentric one in Denmark, I believe. 1000 dollars, 7 hours and 50 dishes. Eye opening too! 🙂
whats the name of the restaurant you mean?
Alchemist
@@bastikroll2023The 50 course restaurant is called Alchemist, it's located in Copenhagen and the chef is Esben Holmboe Bang. One of the most renowned and memorable spots in the world.
The dishes are $470 (without Wine/Juice), the difference is for the travel and stay
What a beautiful video! Koks looks wonderful, excited to go there someday
He is really on point for every video, thank you
God i was waiting for this video!!
Good job!!
Great production quality. Great video.
This is netflix level quality! Ive been feeling ill the last couple of days and this video was really easy to watch and made me feel better and even a bit hungry :)
Just took a look at some of your other videos; you got a new subscriber here!
I love how BIG and LONG the course dinner is from KOKS
The description of your channel alone made me subscribe!!’n
This sounds exactly like that movie about this insane chef
Oh I visited KOKS in 2015 but on the Faroes. Was very good but dinner takes over 3 hours. Highly recommend and this Greenland move seems also very cool. Haven't tried the Greenland location but the Faroe Island one was very interesting. Lots of locally sourced delicacies.
Hi. From the surrounding to the food, it all seems like 1 hell of an experience. How much did the meal/experience cost?
🍻
This looks amazing I would love to visit this restaurant someday
This is one of my bucket list of places to eat
How much will a cheeseburger set me back there?
Depends, how much do you value the other guests?
I was in Iceland last May and this reminded me so much of it. I cant wait to do go back
Honestly aperitifs on a boat ride over, lodging, dinner, breakfast, and lunch... is 3 stars worthy! My question is... what were the beverages being served during the meal, and how much was it
love your content! would love to see a video on Alinea in Chicago
Ohh i was there last year :) just the trip to get there was amazing.
When i was there, there were 1 person who gagged at the Ptarmigan (feather dish) and a couple who barely ate anything :O
My favorite dish i had was Yakotori BBQ'ed Whale meat, with incredible demiglace
I was there 2017 and did not even know it was so famous haha. Very tasty lunch and view to the icebergs and whales for sure. Excited (Maybe has been the restaurant before Koks, did not remember 2 stars back then.)
10:59 I love a KOKS breakfast.
What lens do you use for you’re videos, the quality is amazing
this is the best video ive ever watched
10:59 i got a bit worried when he said it like that
Que video espetacular, como um cozinheiro apaixonado pela gastronomia eu adorei cada parte dele, parabéns para você e para os envolvidos no restaurante
I love your content ❤❤
man I can't even imagine what fine dining tastes like. do they put in a lot of spices? do these things taste subtle with a focus on the protein itself? i honestly cannot imagine
bro just said "there is no night" so casually 😂
Can you say something about the drinks? Those looked great. Was it all home made? With or without alcohol?
Der Mann mit dem Koks ist da!
very nice.. informative.. i love your videos..
like a documentary so well made
Still thinking about that garlic onion fudge a year later. Some small tweaks to the menu from 2022 but I’d gladly have it again tonight!
That shrimps looks amazing
Oh, I would love to go there! 🤤🤤🤤
I liked your appearance in "The Menue"
The dishes look fantastic…but as a overeater should I bring snacks just in case it’s not enough food?
i feel like you’re paying more for the journey then the food which isn’t exactly what i want from a restaurant which is all about feeding me
Clearly the people who are worried about too litte food aren’t familiar with Michelin style tasting menus. You get tons of courses and wine with every course so that one hour or so you are totally drunk and won’t be hungry anyway.
Once my family got a taste of KOKS we've been coming back.
"Where did you eat today?"
"Koks"
"..."
Gotta love Koks for breakfast.
Amazing!
Only no-go for me about this experience is they don't give you curtains in the room. Especially with midnight sun nonsense going on, I would lose my mind lol
how much did it cost though
Would you be able to give us a ballpark on your trip and meal? I would like to get an idea if this would be feasible for me!
Your so lucky to go there.
Your videos remind me of the movie the menu!
I want to try Mattak so badly
Hi dude, inspiring video. How much did you spend? Have you considered going for the excursion too? :P x
omg everything is sooooo great and beautiful except the food :D
can you order a pizza after this meal too? or do you have to stay hungry until your flight back home
Not eating narwhals. They're the unicorns of the sea. 😢
Got some crazy "The Menu" vibes going here
MAN I WANT KOKS
Awesome ...what was cost for food and living
Paul really looks different from of a video from a RUclips channel David’s been here recorded 7 years ago. (Video is placed to eat in Torshavn)
My local Harvester does this very same menu.
AMAZING ❤
This concept is the bones for a decent horror plot
If we all do this once in a lifetime, we're at least sure that you can take a boat there without any icebergs 🙂
I like the size of dishes 😮
I heard they also opened up a restaurant in Alaska called BOLLZ
waiting for the head chef to clap his hands
I think the movie The Menu addressed this.
Wait Koks moved to Greenland?
They were in the Faroes, always drove by it with the bus to work.
Still regret never going, but I also didn't had the money for it anyways. :P
And in the middle of this, an ad for Oreos. 😂😂😂
Beautiful ❤️
Now cover the fine dining restaurant that's even more isolated located in the Kerguelen Islands.
can you please explain in depth the flavor of each dish? you brush over half of them
Dont wait until S'mores come out.
Remind me of the movie called THE MENU
Giving the " Menu' vibes
At this point I see michelin stars as a warning sign.
This is giving me deja vu from the film "The Menu"...
Pls try Aira I've worked there but also i think its one of the best restaurants atleast the best restaurant in Sweden
i'm going to sweden in the spring and aira is on the list!
