Hi guys! Just wanted to let you know, in light of all the new things JK Rowling has said in the past year (2020) ánd her new book, I don't want to actively recommend her works of fiction any longer. I am still keeping this video up so you can see the other recommendations, but just wanted to make this clear. Check out these articles to learn more on the JK situation and her views: www.sbs.com.au/topics/pride/article/2020/06/10/opinion-why-jk-rowling-wrong-side-history

I would suggest "Murder mystery of Reporter" by Jaiprakash Jha. It's a wonderful book to read in the mystery detective genre, a must-read for mystery lovers by Agatha Christie. Unlike normal crime thriller this book doesn't focus on brutality of the crime but it focuses on the mystery.

i find it so hard to find murder mystery books and not thrillers?? thank you fro the video! I've loved the diviner series, it's incredibly fun and diverse, and deep. Ninth house is better than everyone says and that's my hot take, the murder mystery and dark academia vibe is soooo addicting!! truly devious is a love letter to murder afficionados. A study in charlotte is interesting because of the fact that the retelling exists within the sherlock homles 'universe', and that's so cool. Anyway, great vid, might think about checking that JKR book, without buying it obviously, since it's the only book here i haven't read and i love all of the other recomendations you made! great vid!

A series of murders that happen at the same time in various countries are investigated. The victims are not related in anyway but have 3 main similarities: the murders happen to all explore the same remote place in there their past life,They all have a letter that is from a person, who was said to be dead 30 years ago, though the date appeared to be sent only a decade ago and a pair a spectacles that contained a unusual key like screw, which joined the two temples with a up hinge.
This murder mystery is unlike any other...

@@leoraaileen I totally do agree with you for one should be selective. However, this, at the same time, means one should not fund the authors whom he or she don't share the same beliefs and those whom he or she don't know which beliefs they have (otherwise One will find himself or herself funding their, the authors, platform). the question is: does this mean that you are funding only the authors whom you are sure they share same beliefs as you?( not that logical) I just felt the need to discuss this with you and thanks for answering.

Love The Diviners too, I've only read Part 1 too even though I've got both the sequels rented from the library sitting right next to me😂I've never read JK Rowling's pen name works and I've always wanted to; in light of the (several) recent times that she can't seem to shut her mouth I doubt I ever will lol I think separating the art from the artist is justifiable on a case by case basis but in this case, in my opinion I don't care to explore any more of her work. A shame she feels the need to use her massive platform to spread hateful messages.

omg go read the diviners right now hahaha. And with JK it is a complicated case. I also think that there is such a big, loving supporting community built up after her work that does support anybody, no matter their gender identity. However I would certainly understand if you never pick up the Cormoran Strike books.

@@leoraaileen Oh i totally agree about HP, I'll always love it and the HP community is insanely cool. That's exactly the sort of thing that makes it complicated!! I'm not sure if her other works would even interest me anyway - I had wanted to read them just to see what else she was writing besides HP. But since I don't really care for the author I don't care to see anymore what she's writing now if that makes sense hahaha!

Ill always support JK Rowling lol. Just because you dont agree with her beliefs doesnt mean you still can't support her as an author. Sorry but I think it was pretty lousy of you to straight up tell people not the support her. You could have just said you dont and leave it at that. Shes an amazing author with her own beliefs that im sure lots of people agree with..she just made a mistake by not keeping it to herself🤦‍♀️. I swear people are so sensitive these days smh. I think she still deserves to be supported for her work. Harry Potter meant alot to alot of people. The reason I think she used that alias is not because of that drama anyway and more because i think she wanted people to love her book as mystery novel, and not just because it came from her.

Good recommendations I'm definitely checking out on some of them for sure!! I'm so disappointing for J.K. as well, such horrible thing for her to spread those kind of messages 😤😤

I just wanted to say that I think including the JK Rowling book was not the way to go here. I think there are a bunch of authors out there who have written books that have all those similar things you enjoyed about Rowlings book. I know you don't support her ideas about transgender women like you stated, but you are still encouraging people to read a book she wrote, and there will probably be people who maybe don't know what's going on with her and will buy the book. I think it would've been better to just elevate a different author who your views do allign with more, that maybe doesn't get as much exposure. In no way is this meant to hate on your video, I just wanted to share that that rec left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Hi Julie, thanks for giving me a heads up, I agree with you, I don't feel the same way anymore (as in I don't want to recommend her books anymore, not even with a disclaimer like in this video) after all the things she's said and done in 2020. Have pinned a comment to make this clear to new viewers.
