The person who requested it is most welcome to add it to his channel.
I must admit to not being into his music - yet. I lived most of my life in Belfast and John constantly visited throughout the worst of the troubles - I always remember his surname as my first name is Martin.
When he passed, the BBC did a flurry of programmes about him - a 60 min documentary Johnny Too Bad which is on Google Videos (just google 'John Martyn documentary'), a whistle test show (30 min) and a compilation of performances (60 min).
I fully mean to watch all of them as I recorded them to DVD.
Less than 2000 hits? Should be 2000000000000. People listen to some right shit. JM was a real musician with a style all of his own. This is magical.Always makes my spine tingle! Thanks JM :)
GOOSEBUMPS - Sweet jesus - I'm 34 and I have only discovered John Martyn - Better late then never...... When he eases into When the hurt in your heart has gone - Oh Lordy Lord. Magnificent stuff.
The genius of this performance...blending the two tracks.Amazing. FECKIN LOVE IT!
Hey! That's Loudon! Two great talents in one small room. Cool beans.
Wow, JM, and LW3 in one, brilliant.
Wonderful find ...Thanks Ian for pointing me at it....and the bass player is definitely Alan thompson
Brilliant, loved the audio, but this is too good to be true. A rarity for sure. Not sure -but the bass player may be Alan Thomson. Thanks for this upload muchly.
Fantastic versions! Thank you for posting this gem.
I wish I had discovered John Martyn earlier, now finding myself obsessed! Thanks for posting!
RIP John Martyn..
nice work, thanks for posting this!
@mart3442 Aye, the key change -from F maj to C maj I think. As I may have mentioned before when I heard the audio of this- who would have thought HIYHeart could be played to this tempo? and still be f**g amazing? Not me. The morph -the key change is really effective on this. & when you watch this..there was only one John eh?, thats for bloody sure. -Ian
Absolutely great! Wow! Incredible performance! Could the bass player be John Giblin? Anyway, great stuff, big muff! Thanks! -karl
Brilliant. Thats john giblin on bass
@JesseMathews LEE PERRY or COCAINE dealer. LEE PERRYS legendary womanising Ive heard was one inspiration for BIG MUFF. The other Ive heard was alledgedly about a COKE dealer who used to live in a flat above JM! Whatever this is amazing! :)
@nolittleboy Yeh, the bass player is not Alan Thomson, now I actually look properly!!-Ian
nice one, thought I'd seen and heard everything he'd done, but seems not. Cheers!!
@steelyman08 yea i though as much, thanks :)
@steelyman08 It was alleged that it was about Lee Perrys antics? Another story alleges it was about a coke dealer who lived upstairs from JM
The bass player I'm sure is John Giblin looking at the facial expressions lol
Where in Glasgow was this recorded? And when. Is the venue still open.
Anybody know who the bass player is??
