Seems like you are not soldering the jumper wires as most people say in tutorials. I had actually done the same fixing the wires with strong adhesive tape, it works, no soldering needed. I think the "no soldering needed" label should be made bigger on these tutorials, especially now that the OTA methods are no longer working with newer Sonoff S20 shipped these days.
I own the "S20_US v1.3" version and for 4+ hours time, I could not get my S20 to flash. I thought my USB flasher was dead I flashed other devices (S30, Shelly). At wits end, I plugged the TX to TX, RX to RX with the USB flasher and was able to reprogram it. However after flashing, I have to reverse it to TX-RX, RX-TX if I so need to flash it with another firmware. Or just OTA it next time.
the blue led light up when i connect the sonoff with the usb to serial .. it can't seem to be able to enter flash mode.. I get permission denied everytime
Could not flash mine. Kept saying something about header not starting or something like that. Turns out, they wrote the text on my sonoff board for vcc, ground, rx, and tx. They had the tx, and rx, backwards. I had to hook, tx to tx, and rx to rx, then it flashed fine.
@@bartoszmaciejewski8155 Luck for me the newest one worked. I am surprised I did not hurt the device. Thought I was not putting it in programming mode. Kept trying over and over. Once you get tasmota on there, you can update it over the internet.
You can. Also it is more comfortable to set wires on the plug and usb serial device firstly, then press button and connect usb to computer. Without messing around cables inside plug :)
Good god! Why for all country short IDs is not used "Cars country ID"?? It is all confusing. Somewhere is UK, somewhere GB and in Czech biograph UK movie is VB (from czech lang., but USA movie is USA... WTF?). BTW Ukraine haved UA on cars. Simply. :)
Hi there! You missed a lot of steps. Like how to install virtualenv. I guess you figured everyone looking at your videos is a programmer. Fortunately I managed to flash by following SuperHouse #31: Sonoff Tasmota installation and configuration video.
Thanks. Got me out of a jam when I bricked one of mine OTA tonight. I had completely forgotten how I flashed it in the first place. Liked.
Cheers David’s mate Ellis whom I met one New Years ;)
Thanks for your video! Very clear. Subscribed!
Very well made and informative video. Thanks!
Thanks. Awesome tutorial 👏

If youre on linux just run it with sudo or chmod the serial device

I've definitely not used the Ukranian version myself. Honest ;)
can't you connect the jump wires directly to the usb to serial device?

Depends on the output order on your ftdi vs the boards.

Does this method work on the S26?
s26 = u gotta solder, or have 4 steady arms
