No bad thing, at all, especially when you listen to the new release.. The expression 'hot off the heels' does not apply, when talking about the timing of Chicane albums. The tracks are crafted, caressed and encouraged into shape, and that takes time. Thousand Mile Stare is the latest Chicane album to have that attention applied to it. Anyone looking to tap into what has kept Nick Bracegirdle busy the last twelve months will not be disappointed by what they hear on this release. Indeed, anyone who hasn't heard a Chicane album could do worse than to start here. Unashamedly, it is an album and, to that end it's emotive power is sublime. Two tracks on the album were recorded partly in Iceland and feature the Icelandic band, Vigri (who are a veritable madcap orchestra). If I had to sum this album up it would be 'a collection of life soundtracks' said Nick.
It is some fifteen years now since Offshore first became the default setting of Trance, resonating and infiltrating everyone's visits to Ibiza and an anchor in their memory to halcyon days (no pun intended). This album proves that the beauty and willingness of Chicane to supply 'soundtracks to our lives' really is alive and well.
In-between recording, the band have been touring the world playing live shows, a process that Nick Bracegirdle feels gives him the balance needed to keep a perspective on the way he creates. They will of course be doing more of the same with a new show to promote Thousand Mile Stare. There will be a London Thousand Mile Stare show on April 27th at Koko, with some guest surprises.

Brilliant just brilliant art comes in many form chicane has mastered the ambiance in the music and it is a beautiful and resonates deeply in to your sole.
I just found this song, while searching. In just seconds it changed my point of view... How someone can make such a soul-touching song, in a such a strange world...
I lost a close friend yesterday - she passed away, she was young, this song reminds me of her, and I think it has a tendency of reminding you of good times gone unfortunately due to tragic reasons.
Yes, the music and the "end of summer theme" really reminds me of the "end of autumn" themed autumn tactics. now we can only hope for two more songs, about the end of winter and the end of spring.
Bit sad but Chicane so more reliably spiritually uplifting than people. Specially this track.
zeroTJseven . mentioned that this sounds "like a mix between No Ordinary Morning and Autumn Tactics". Those are my two favourite Chicane songs, so I absolutely love this track! Behind the Sun and Far From the Maddening Crowds are my favourite Chicane albums, and truly were the soundtrack of my life in very specific key years. Chicane is Forever!

it is weird how anyone can dislike such a beautiful and melodic, touching song as this, its like some people have no feelings or emotion and are unable to connect with the music, which is profoundly sad in a way, but for one dislike there are many who adore this new song, and im obviously one of them cos this is my third comment on this vid here lol what a song though, its just stunning xxx

does anyone know who wrote these lyrics? are they nicks? or kates? i have a feeling their nicks (chicanes) cos they have the same quality and depth as his previous work has, like no ordinary morning, autumn tactics so on.
Top tune though, i have listened to this several times since yesterday and it sounds better each time, classic chicane, personally i feel great when i hear his music, it can be uplifting, sad, emotional and tender, sometimes all 4 at once, he is a remarkable producer =)

I know this is 6 years old, but in case you don't know, there is a 'beatless demo' version of the song which was released as part of 'deluxe' version of the album.
It's not the same as this version though.
