Louis Vuitton Buys UGLY Diamond | SEWELO Diamond

- Louis Vuitton just bought what is being billed as the second largest diamond in the world. Spoiler alert: It isn't! And it is UGLY. This is no Cullinan Diamond! The Sewelo Diamond was discovered in Botswana in April of 2019, but Lucara Diamond chose not to put it up for auction because it was ... you guessed it ... UGLY. Watch to find out more about the Sewelo Diamond and why I think that a company that can fetch $3000 for a bag made from canvas is uniquely qualified to sell crappy diamonds.

You are too funny. But how dare you make fun of our beloved Louis Vuitton! ;D We all know those Toiletry 15's are rare and expensive because they're made of the highest quality plastic-coated cotton, lined with another high quality plastic that NEVER peels, finished with hardware made of the finest mystery metal and plated in another gold-colored who-knows-what-it-is metal, and that it's hand sewn in the heights of the French mountains by highly skilled French mountain elves who have trained their whole lives for this honor and who weave the thread from the hair of their French mountain goat kids. Interesting diamond, though. I'll be curious to see what LVMH does with it. And it's nice to see another jewelry video from you. :)
Ha! You paint the perfect LV picture Autumn!! But you forgot to add that there are also Texas mountain elves! It will be very interesting to see where this diamond ends up indeed! xoxo
you nailed it. i remember arguing with my sister about her buying iPhone 5c back in 2014 and she told me it is an investment and collectors item coz its rare and made of titanium and I laughed and told her that aluminum not rare metals coz you see them everywhere like aluminum foils. Her iPhone 5 nearly costs her $1k in 2014 and just this month I bought my first ever iPhone which is a second hand iPhone 5 in good condition for less than $60! If only she spent $1k dollars in 2014 it would be worth so much more now especially if they are natural color diamonds however small.
When I saw the news about LV's purchase of the diamond I wondered if you'd do a video on it! I'll be very interested to see how they end up selling it/what they end up doing with it. And I love how you've added "nationally award-winning" to your intro. Yes, own it, girl!
Thank you! I wasn't sure about including that and tried it here! I can't wait to see what LV does with that diamond. It will probably be a year or two before we know. xoxo
Hi Jill, very interesting. I can't wait to see what LV does with it!
Thank you Isobel! I'm dying to know!! xoxo
This video is HYSTERICAL! I loved how you said the toiletry 15’s can be in all grocery store shelves 🤣🤣🤣 and I agree, that is one big ugly diamond! Can’t wait for your next video!
Thank you Bobby! I'm looking forward to the LV / Whole Foods collaboration!! xoxo
Hi my darling Jill, great video and so informative. Thanks so much and have a great evening!! xo
I'm so happy you enjoyed it Sabrina!! xoxo
I agree with your thoughts about this diamond. Very nice for a paperweight or as art display. Yeah, they can also cut it into pieces and turn into bag charms... I love your sense of humor! Have a wonderful weekend ahead! xoxo
Thanks hon! I can't wait to see what they do with it!! xoxo
This was so funny well done watching this video could be a drinking game how many times does Jill say crappy? Take a drink

You’re so funny! Love your opinions. Keep it up!
Thank you Pam! This one was a lot of fun to do!! xoxo
Very interesting info Jill. Love listening to you and your insights and put humour into it.And i agree with you, they have a marketing machine and can make anything small into BIG!!! Or ugly into prettiest /expensive item. TFS xxx
Thank you so much Laami! It will definitely be interesting to see what they do with it!! xoxo
You’re just so cute and funny Ms Jill. Thanks
Thank you so much Ms Eva!! xoxo

Tell her I enjoyed watching her spin out the truck!! xoxo
I LOVE THIS VIDEO! JILL 🤣
Thank you Jason!
I always thought black diamonds are ugly even though I have a few. I like the white diamonds more. I'm looking at a pink diamond piece and have it on my radar 👍
Have a wonderful day 🌹
I never understood black diamonds either. Dull, gloomy and blah. Who wants that? On the other hand, pink diamonds.....mmmmm.
I do like black diamonds, but they are a different look and a different animal than white (and certainly pink!) diamonds. They are also a very different price!! xoxo
I don’t understand why people don’t want inclusion free or near inclusion free, colorless stones so much. “Near gem quality” stones look more beautiful to me!
It used to be that the industry marketed the ideal of colorless inclusion free stones. More recently they started marketing more common stones (like brown stones). It's definitely been interesting to see the progression. xoxo
You are right Jill, that is ugly. lol Good for us that we don't need ugly rocks like when we have unquantifiable exquisite beauty with you. :)
Aww you are so sweet!! xoxo
looking beautiful Jill like diamond (Grade D-Flawless) 😍 keep it up.
Aww thank you so much Ali! xoxo
You hit the nail in the head. How crazy is that‽ i cannot wait to see what they do with it, and who will be the dummy to buy it. I’m very curious lol
It will be so interesting to see what happens. They may get one good stone out of it, but I doubt much more than that. They could do a beautiful line of jewelry with the rest. It's just that the diamonds would not be very high quality. Time will tell!! xoxo
I am from Botswana.i live in the Boteti region where the Sewelo diamond was discovered.unfortunately the region is one of the poorest in the country.
Welcome Gaofenngwe! I donate to the Devon Foundation and have paid for two women to study at the Institute of Gemology in Madagascar. The concept behind this is to provide education for people to become gemologists so that people in Africa can grade their own stones and therefore sell them for more. My understanding it that there are gemology jobs in Africa for people who have this education. What do you think of this approach? I'd love to know since you are right there. xoxo
I think it is a very good approach for women in Africa, you are definitely doing a very good job,I applaud you Jill but unfortunately from where I come from in Botswana I have not heard of a gemologist, to tell the truth i am not even familiar with the term although I have been in the mining industry for sometime now.
Please share more n the Devon Foundation scholarship,I am very much interested.

Thanks Jill❤
They have all lost their damn minds. The only company better at artificial rarity who could have bought this black lump and promoted it as rare and precious is Hermes. A company which has the nerve to say a handbag is worth $20,000 and make people believe it could easily sell this rock.
True! In Hermes' defense, they are one of the very few still making bags literally by hand and not having quality issues. But I agree that they are doing a whole lot with a piece of leather. I wish I had that kind of marketing power!! xoxo
@@JillMaurer Hermes have quality issues. I returned one croc bag and some others for imperfection and blemish on the skin...
@@LuxCat Oh my! Interesting!!
You didn't say the price of sewelo diamond,
How much price it has gone,Who has owned please give the details
I don't think the price was disclosed.
@@JillMaurer Thank you for your reply Miss Jill, If I want to sell big rough diamond Could you tell me , whom I meet
LV must have some great innovative idea with that diamond that's why they bought it... LV will be call it Rare 😊
They certainly will, and I do think they will make a killing off that stone!! xoxo
@@JillMaurer Ya, they just need to add LV stamp and someone will bag that diamond in no time 😜
Right on point. Can't wait to see what they'll do with it and how they are going to target their eager for everything Louis Vuitton with the huge logos on it.
Thank you Gloria! It will definitely be worth watching to see what they come up with!! xoxo
hey.. hope you catch some of our videos..
Thank you for letting me know you are making them! xoxo
@@JillMaurer you bet,we thank you for watching..
The symbolic diamond looks really ugly bcz its a industry type of diamonds, but its cant be excluded in the range of amazing type of stones bcz its really a diamond of big size .
Its hideous. Love your videos
Agreed Greg! And thank you!! xoxo
Catchy title Jill, interesting to know what the minimum standard is to qualify as a diamond. I’m from Australia, interested to hear your thoughts on the upcoming closure of the Argyle Diamond mine here.
I suppose if it is chemically a diamond it doesn't matter what quality the diamond is. But I'm interested in how they know that lump is diamond all the way through, if you can't even see into it.
It's basically a lottery ticket. I can't wait to see what it really holds!!
Oh interesting idea Dayle! I'll have to give this more thought!! xoxo
well it happens..but jill you do fine..
Thank you!! xoxo
Well really, I think it would make a rather nice paper-weight. Queen Mary made the off-cuts of The Cullinan into a brooch and with that wonderful English flair for understatement, Queen Elizabeth calls it 'Granny's Chips'! I agree that it is ugly rubbish. I will not be buying it. Thank you for the video.
Ha! Granny's chips! I love it!! xoxo
he he he .. i'l be coming back
Thank you Lauren! xoxo
Oh wow! LOL!
Stop saying those things about my country
Haha !
Thank you Maria! xoxo
Someone is triggered af ahahaha. But I totally get it, actually recently lv uses to put money into very different ventures, anyway they do with this rock is probably going to be sold to a gawdy Arab or something in that real.
Triggered is fair Sinuhe! I really can't wait to see what they do with it!! xoxo
