6:10 - “5 clips with different settings.” This is great cause honestly I couldn’t see this jittering+ghosting you were talking about until the comparisons. Having said that, I’d definitely be happy with the hiking trip footage as it still looks great to me!
I actually use the Hohem iSteady Pro 4 for all of my videos. And yes, it can help a lot when the light gets diminished by weather or by heavy shadows. And also you can use the Wide lens setting knowing that the horizon will always be leveled. It’s not perfect however. It has some software and hardware issues that you need to learn to workaround for optimal results. You can’t also use the Media Mod with it. But for it’s price, and for amateur content creators, it a really good option. Great video.
Thanks for this, very helpful. What would you do if you want to use media mod with this? Or what options would I have for good audio? I have rode wireless go ii
I too have Hohem iSteady Pro 4 and my gopro 10 black, i want to get absolute the best jitter free "Night" footage , using the gopro 10, with hohem gimbal ..How do i achieve that.? i have noticed that if i keep the hypersmooth stabilization to standard(lowest possible) along with the hohem gimbal, there are still few chances of jittery Night video footage... Main reason why i brought hohem isteady pro 4 gimbal for gopro 10 was to shoot video at night without jittery footage(without hypersmooth being turned on), but was disappointed to find out the hohem isteady pro 4 gimbal does require hypersmooth to be on ..... as a workaround what i found to work with night footage was, to use dji osmo mobile 2 gimbal and mount gopro 10 on a metal plate adapter for gopro(but this setup is heavy and cumbersome/impractical)... any help inputs from you on making absolute jitter free night footage with gopro 10 and hohem isteady pro 4 gimbal, would be very helpful for me.. Thanks
I have a GoPro 12 and I love it in good light but I want to get a gimbal for lower light footage. I am saving up for a pocket 3. Any thoughts on the Ace Pro? Does its Ai help with this jitter and ghosting? If you were shooting in low light, would you use the same settings with the gimbal? But no ND?
The AI on the Ace Pro does help a bit in low light. I believe the AI raises the ISO so that the shutter speed doesn’t have to slow down as much while also providing more of a smoothing effect on the footage to not show too much noise. Yes, exactly. When shooting in low light I use the same settings with the gimbal but no ND.
I noticed you didn't use Linear + Lock and Hypersmooth on, any reason? I used to have one of those gimbals but felt it was too big for my purpose, I'd like just the head without the battery and power it via a power tank.
Yes, in this case I chose the Wide lens simply because I wanted the Wide perspective but I could have used Linear+Lock with Hypersmooth on and it also would have worked. The head without the battery would be neat option. This gimbal is the smallest one I have found that is simple and easy to use with a GoPro. It reminds me a lot of the GoPro Karma Grip gimbal that I used to use with my Hero 7 and older GoPros.
It defeats the purpose of a being an action camera when using a gimbal. I noticed this as well in my vlog when walking in low light environments the footage becomes so bad. I hope the action 5 thats coming soon will cover all these problems cause stability should really be one of the best features on any action camera
Action cameras use electronic image stabilization. As long as they use electronic image stabilization there will be a struggle to produce good footage in low light or with a slow shutter speed because sharp enough frames are needed for properly stabilizing the footage if solely depending upon EIS. Eventually, I think an action camera company will come up with better stabilization on an action camera where EIS is not needed to properly stabilize. The company that does this will likely sell a lot of action cameras.
24 fps with a 1/48 shutter speed of 30fps with a 1/60 shutter speed should give good indoor results as long as it isn’t too bright of an environment like an indoor space with lots of windows that let in natural lighting. If there is too much natural lighting you may need an ND filter combined with these settings.
Yes, unfortunately this gimbal will support the GoPro only. If I need good audio from my GoPro I like to use a wireless mic that I wear and record the audio locally to the mic. I then sync any talking clips later on.
Important context. For those who aren’t familiar with the issue and that feeling of what it’s like to have most footage from an adventure end up being unusable after the fact.

Thank you and I appreciate your feedback. I’m glad you found the 5 clips useful.

Great video.
Thank you. Glad you’ve been able to use this gimbal as well. Appreciate you sharing your experience with it too.
You nailed it. Thats what I found out myself. All good advice. Same goes for osmo 3 and 4
Absolutely. This same methodology works great with the Action 3 and 4 too. Thanks for your feedback!
Will this work on the DJI Action 5? Please do a review on that camera. You’re the best reviewer!
I’m working on some videos for the Action 5 right now 😃
Short answer is yes, this will work with the Action 5 too but using Gyroflow to stabilize.
Thanks, I was actually trying to find the best settings with a gimbal and ND filters
You’re welcome.

Could you do a comparison between the gimbal and using ReelSteady? Would be curious to see those results. Cheers!
Yes, I can certainly do this. I’ll plan a video to show these comparisons.

This is a great question. I actually have a video that will be coming out tomorrow that will help address this and the best solution.

I wants to get this gimbal to shoot inside, walking videos inside (like malls or indoor spaces). Would I use 1/48 at 24?

You have a great voice 😮
Thank you.
I guess media mod wont work with this. I like media mod since it cuts wind noise down.

Way too long introduction!!!

But I have a table of contents on this video for convenient skipping for those who know.
