    Ok, your video is really being there without being there. Great mix of aircraft, even some aggressor squadron paint in there. The image quality is insane. Another user commented about your use of the music. He’s correct and I only wish to add that you have the music adding significantly to the experience but it doesn’t overwhelm the sound of the aircraft. To me, that’s an incredible balance to achieve. I don’t know if this is a hobby for you or what, but something with this level of passion and dedication should damn sure make you a buck if it isn’t.

      @timlampreht4856 5 лет назад +1

      The F-14's were the "Best kept Secret" in my opinion. The pentagon makes a whole lot of stupid and wrong decisions all in the name of money but in the long run end up spending more. The F14 Tomcat was the fastest and most maneuverable fighter bomber and highest altitude bomber we ever had, it still can carry the heaviest payload of any other to this very date. They wanted to replace it with the F-18 but the F-18 still can't come close to the f-14's payload and not as fast either when maxed out with bombs. The Navy wants them back or at least upgrade their systems to bring it up to current tech.

    • @nocalsteve
      @nocalsteve 5 лет назад +1

      There aren't any F20s, they were never built. The prototype crashed during an airshow. The T-38 in this video is civilian owned. The F-4 has the markings of an Air Force Reserve Squadron but is likely either civilian owned or a plane being prepared as a target plane.

    • @VisibilityFoggy
      @VisibilityFoggy 4 года назад

      @@timlampreht4856 - Err, the F-14 splashed many an enemy in its day, but it was underpowered and never the most maneuverable plane. What it *did* have was a purpose-built BVR missile that was second to none for its time. It only became repurposed as a bomb truck in its old age when there wasn't much else they could do with them. In terms of fleet defense and air superiority, the F-14 would not be keeping up with the Su-33, MiG-29K or Rafale-M. Frankly, the F/A-18 doesn't either. That is why the Navy is planning to field a new air superiority fighter under the F/A-XX program. That way the Super Hornets and F-35s won't be forced into an air superiority role.

      No schedule, you just have to make time and then go. M-F are usually pretty active.

      @@Mr.XJ.96 Yes you can, it's called Rainbow Canyon in Death Valley National Park but mostly referred to as Star Wars Canyon with this part being the Jedi Transition. It's along highway 190 in California and there is parking right where the jet traffic is so pick a spot and set up for a show.

      @@oldfrend as far as I know, like someone else mentioned, during the week is best. Multiple bases fly there so you're bound to see some form of activity besides it's the military so they always have to practice. I know they run year round but whether there is a better time of year to see a ton of activity in one day I don't know. I'm sure if it's nice out like spring would be better, like most things if there is a more comfortable time to do something, more of it will get done.

    Okay now the mystery. Where is Star Wars Canyon. California or Nevada. Is it in the China Lake area around Ridgecrest or are we talking more toward Reno north of Walker Lake?

    • @Habujet
      @Habujet  5 лет назад +1

      Miatacrosser the simple answer is that it’s in California on the western edge of Death Valley NP situated along hwy 190 at Father Crowley’s vista point.

      If you want see them at eye level, hang out on Panamint Dunes. It is about a two hour hike in frpm the undeveloped trailhead. There is an electronic target on the one rocky projection, I forget its name. The planes dip and swerve at the before blasting out into the Panamint Valley. No water, services etc. Death Valley NP.

    Is there any indication of how long the min altitude restriction will remain in place? I assume that they need to practice low altitude canyon flying somewhere. I’ve been to the Canyon several times over the past few years and like many others enjoy it tremendously as do the international tourists that stop by.

    • @Habujet
      @Habujet  Год назад

      Well for one thing it’s not just the altitude restriction that’s killed it but the Jedi Transition has basically been re-routed as they added C1 which is further north of the canyon. Because of the fact that Rainbow Canyon is now within the bounds of DVNP (since around 1994) and tourists were injured…..I hate to use the word ‘never’ but…..you’ll not see anything like that thru there again.
