This game is incredible.
At 57:10 the game made it seem like stabbing your self is the easiest way out, like stabbing your self is the way to be safe again, a way to run away from really difficult situations.
But when you think about it... the fact that it makes you feel that is really horrible.
And the part with Basil and the spiders ? We also have the stab, can we stab before Basil gets killed or use it useless ?
@@Dark_Peace He could have, but he wouldn't have the key. And when he got the key, he had the chance to escape through the hands, but he chose "STAB", because the game made it's normal... Like a game mechanic.

Because this Is how Sunny feels. Sunny Is convinced that the only way to end his sufferings, It Is through killing himself. This Is further confirmed that, even if you do kill mewo, you still have to stab your self to get out of the room, which can be translated as "no matter what I do, only by ending It all I can truely escape". And i reapeat, this Is HE Is thinking

The way you avoid it though, the way you're relieved when you see the stab option.. the situation really makes it look like it's the best way out and you get happy when you see it, realizing that you don't have to hurt Mewo, but when you think about this, what the stab option means and what you just felt when you saw it, it actually gets really unsettling

Very glad you did not cut open Mewo. It's a trick, the only way to get out is to stab yourself, something most players don't bother to look at until after they cut open mewo (which is just a series of "are you really sure"'s and increasingly depressing imagery that ultimately does nothing but make you feel bad)

@@lavender3609 To be fair, Merg working out the trick of that Room doesn't make the situation it presents much better. It still presents an unwinnable dichotomy: either kill the cat (futile), or kill yourself (inevitable).
It makes me recall another comment which put it quite succinctly, but very depressingly:
No matter what you do in there, it's all a bad message. If you figure it out, you think suicide is the best way out. If you kill Mewo and aren't as affected by it, suicide is the only way out. And if you kill Mewo and are really affected by it, you feel like you deserve to die...

Congrats on not killing mewo, Most People miss that you can stab yourself to leave.
The red door is the one you want to go through last, that door progresses the game.
Also i would suggest that you try to stitch together some of the stuff thats been said in the whirlpool and the strangers. Their dialogue is hard to understand even after you finish the game but knowing it before you learn the truth clears a lot of things up.
Not sure if you saw my previous comment, but dont worry about missing things. Most of the stuff in this area is insanely obscure and easily missable
(if youre wondering how much you missed, you missed about 2 npcs, a gigantic area which you dont even enter in the base game, a couple rooms and a bunch of minor stuff)
Many People have already said this, but the flowers are fine, you watered them enough.
This is the part of the game where the content warnings really start to matter, if something is too much for you, PLEASE dont force yourself to continue.

• In Black Space, open every other door BEFORE the glowing one.
• There is a secret dungeon in Faraway Town soon, and just more stuff to do in town, make sure to check everywhere thoroughly in the real world when you get a complete team

Another omori video, I just love watching merg explore black space, this game is one of my favourites and it’s so cool to see him play it!

At 53:00, during that scene where Omori runs around with Something who constantly says “I love you”, the background looks like they are memories, all centered around Happy memories. Everything in Blackspace has to do with memories or remembering them. I can’t wait to see how this develops!

The man tells you "mewo has been doing bad" and gives you a key, which well, unlocks nothing, you just are supposed to think it does.
Then you come to the table, where mewo lies.
You are asked to cut mewo open, which is something everyone is gonna answer with "no", but after going around the room, you realize that there is nothing else to interact with.
you stand in front of Mewo. The game asks you "do you wanna cut him open?" and you have no other choice to say yes...
"MEWO stares at you. She does not know what's happening."

you answer yes...

I love how Merg is the exact opposite of how he's supposed to feel.
Agree- if you think about it, he's really doing the exact thing Sunny's doing in this situation:
Playing the game, distancing himself from all the imagery enough for it to be not genuinely terrifying,
exploring this imaginary world as a character who isn't afraid of any of it. One who can't be hurt.
Sunny isn't Sunny in Dreamspace. He's someone named Omori. Omori has lived in White Space for as long as he can remember.
15:24 there is an unused cutscene for this. Mari takes you to Basil´s house, but one by one all of your friends dissapear. Also dialogue for this cutscene implies that Mari likes horror stuff while Hero _REALLY_ doesnt.

Hem hem...
Once upon a time Icarus and his father were locked up in a prison (in the game, Icarus and his father are represented by Basil and Mari)
Icarus's father was very smart and could always find a way out of everything
He came up with the idea of collecting the feathers of the birds that were flying outside his cell windows and stick them together using the wax from the candles to make wings for himself and Icarus
Once they were complete, they both attached the wings on their backs and flew off
Icarus was warned by his father not to get to close to the sun because the wax would melt and he would fall to his death
Unfortunately, Icarus was blinded by the excitement of flying, so he didn't listen and went higher
And then it happened: the wings melted and he fell into some rocks by the sea and died
I think that the game references this story because of the wings, and getting too close to the sun, etc
Well...
At least now we know how the phrase "Don't fly too close to the sun." Came to be.
Daedalus stormbow from terraria is a reference to that too (im not 100% sure tho)

Hey, Merg, (I hope you see this.) I just thought I'd tell you something about the inspiration for Black Space, and the entire concept of Omori.
Omori was heavily inspired by another game that originally came out in 2004 called Yume Nikki. It was an RPG game that revolved around the same concept of entering dreams, and it was so influential in its circle, it went on to inspire other games to be made: Oneshot, Omori, Lisa the RPG, and even a few bits in Undertale. It's quite a game, despite it technically being considered a horror game. If you liked Omori, I highly recommend playing Yume Nikki afterwards.

i'm surprised how obsessed with this game i've been- the story's giving me chills and i WISH BASIL WOULD JOIN YOUR TEAM IN THE REAL WORLD DAMMIT

I love how the thumbnail of this video Is literally the black space version of the thumbnail of your first gameplay of omori. Is a simple detail, but Is still kinda neat.
Already 26 videos in and it doesn‘t seem to be ending (which is def a good thing imo :p) I can‘t wait until you explore this game further, it seems so interesting and the storyline gets better and more mysterious.
I think the most it can go to is episode 30

The music in that beach area (August/Water) is some of my favorite music I've ever heard. It's somehow so minimalist yet describes the emotions of the scene perfectly.
Black space is definitely one of the most interesting areas of the game.
What is the meaning of the things seen there? Why did Basil end up there?

Fun fact: in the Mewo room, many people think they have to pick yes to get out, without realizing the menu can be opened. So they just cut open Mewo for nothing.

@@noskillman6507 More prompts will show, each one describing Mewo getting more scared and desperate (e.g. Mewo's eyes widen, she struggles to break free, she tries to scream but there is no sound) and you have to pick yes to cutting her each time.
The animation is just Omori slashing his knife and mewo's body flopping over in a ketchup puddle.
