My wife knew him when he was a little kid in the mid-'50s, and she even danced with him at American Legions dances in southern California. He had already made his Christmas hit when she knew him and said he never knew he was famous. He was just a nice boy who didn't understand his talent.
I like him.Open and nice.I am 50 now and from England but used to listen to him sing on a Christmas LP way back when I was a baby in the 1960's and only now have found that record. How lovely people were back thern and the creative ideas and feeling of joy I feel is now remembered. Look out for Jimmy Body singing Frosty the snowman etc and enjoy if you can find it.We should not lose these lovely tracks/records.I'm converting my LP to CD/MP3.
Jimmy Boyd was 25 years old when this was filmed. This past January, he would’ve been 85 as he died almost 15 years ago in March 2009 at age 70 due to cancer. It’s a small world, but he was a true legend!
Thanks for uploading ! I just watched a movie on cable TV from 1975 called "That's the Way of the World" where Jimmy had a small role. He looked so familiar and went online to find out he had a long & prolific acting & singing career.
By that period (1965), Jimmy Boyd had reinvented himself musically as a champion of the burgeoning first generation garage rock movement. He released several fine singles in that genre. All well worth finding.
It was a shame he could not get too many roles as an adult because of the rapidly changing music culture and tastes (rockabilly to folk to the British invasion to psychedelic rock). From what I have watched and listened from others' accounts, Jimmy seemed like a warm, friendly man who seemed to enjoy making people laugh and share his stories.
As an early Xmas Gift to my wife I bought a record album frame and a piece of sheet music printed scrapbook paper and framed and mounted it for my wife.
I remember being a big fan of Jimmy when I was a kid .. great actor & singer.

Jimmy was something of a National Treasure, a real nice guy and an all around talent.
RIP, He is missed.
