It is a bit rough but I like where I think this is heading. I worked in software product management for many years and I have a ton of feedback. Please let me know how I can get that to the dev team. My first bit of feedback would be that it could use a few short video tutorials. There were a number of places where someone who was familiar with the intended workflow would have had not trouble but where I got stuck. Also as a smaller scale market gardener there were a few places where I got tripped up. For example despite have uniform beds I probably should have chosen row feet as my units instead of beds. I have a lot of crops that I just can't justify a whole bed to. A lot of my succession planting is seeding a full row down a bed with the Jang and then using the next row in that bed a week later. I also do a lot of things like 3 cultivars seeded at once in a single bed to keep people excited while not over producing the total quantity of that vegetable.

this is an absolute marvel ! im about to start a farm in 2-4 years and one of the things that im not so good at is planning ahead and doing excel sheets and so on. This is going to save me so much stress and time. Wow thank you ! efficiency in market gardening just skyrocketed!

As a software developer, I can see that there's a lot of work and care that's been put into this from the video alone. Well done 👏

I would love to see JM do a Pros vs Cons comparison with Heirloom vs seedtime. I imagine Heirloom would be better suited to the pro/semi pro market gardener. I am a market gardener and have only used paper planning to this date. I need to decide which system to use or both and compare myself.

maybe not by jm, I think he's a little biased as he kept saying ''we'' talking about heirloom

I’d like that comparison to include Tend. I’m assuming its better since JM was promoting Tend in the beginning. Also, I’m hesitant to use right away as it looks like the crops included are very limited as it is still so new. I have that problem with Seedtime. I find I’m spending so much time creating my own custom list of crops and finding the data to do that is challenging.

Same complaint about seedtime- love that I can add my own varieties but man are they home gardener biased in what they add to the program. Everyone of us knows and probably buys from Johnny's but they don't have any of their varieties. Takes forever to add them and by then I am spending way too much of my time doing something that I am paying them to do.

Definitely exciting. In thinking about starting my own market garden, the most difficult perceived task is crop planning, and accounting… getting the numbers right. Knowing the numbers. has never been my strong suit. I look forward to the polished gold version. When will streamlined seed purchasing be integrated? And when will AI go live?

I have been playing with it for only a few hours. So far I am very impressed. I have been using Tend software for the past 8 years. The biggest part of Heirloom is locating plantings into the planed garden space. Soo easy and visual. Great job guys. I will definitely use this software when my trial period is up. I want you know that I am a 70 year old market gardener, if I can figure out how to use this, anyone can.

looks very useful, thanks! I also like the enhancements you're envisioning. if your devs are adding ai capabilities it could be cool if the app could access the gps in your phone so you could open the app and tap a 'what jobs are there to do in this part of the garden' report

It is really a grat thing to gardeners. I would like to see the possibility to add multiple crops in one bed, like one bed with salad, kohlrabi an Fennel at the same time as tomatoes and cucumeres. What would also be awesome, is when you would have an app like To do from microsoft, where you can conneckt to check up your to-do`s, and also note your labour. If your Done with vegetables you maybe could ad a mask for planning your animals or Field crops, so that you can print out one big scedule for your hole farm. I wish you find some Foundation, who is willing to pay your bills, so that farmers all over the world could profit for free from this great tool. Some more languages (german) would also be great. I really see a grat potential in this tool.

Please consider some kind of bare bones version that's cheaper for smaller gardens, like 50-60/year, with size limits or something. Sounds useful, but not worth it for us small fries.

The existing cultivars were a real timer saver, but you should really open up creating seed libraries to the community. It shouldn't be up to the developers to add different cultivars. Individual users could upload custom seed libraries that other people could use, and vote on as trustworthy.

Maybe a stupid question, but is there a good and realisable standard for recording plant growth? Ideally adapted to the respective crop, as different parameters could be important here? Any direction would help a lot!

I'm curious whether there is any calculation for additional "days to maturity" in the shoulder seasons? It's been a real issue that I've run into planting in the late winter and finding things not growing as quickly getting started. Light? Heat? Day length? Soil temperatures? It's a big can of worms, I know, but I think important to deal with if one is trying to plan for, for instance, having product to sell at the market on the first weekend of May.

Can you run two separate plans simultaneously using the same account? I have two farms in the same location and I'd like to try this software this year. Also, I tried finding the customer service email to ask the same question but I was not able to find any. Thank you!

I'm trying to find out something. Lets say i am supposed to plant lettuce on April 15th but i am behind a week or two due to weather, will just that crop move (tending and harvest date) or will the whole bed move? (The next planting and such.) Its my one issue with seedtime. Beds are overlapping due to late plantings and that gets confusing.

I agree with not having the software on the computer. Unfortunately, all the companies do it like this nowadays. It’s all subscription. My concern is that if the grid goes down you don’t have access to any of your records.

Tough to enter the software market space. Seedtime and tend are decently mature products. Problem right now is everyone is using their own differentiators when customers would probably prefer all of their problems be solved. Pre-populated tasks for crops, mapping, crop planning, secession planning, revenue management, cash flow management, online sales channel integrations, seed ordering, custom pricing, inventory management, labor management, time & expense management. Right now it is just a hodgepodge of everyone picking out something different and trying to establish market domination. And since the market isn't that large to begin with, you're just chipping away at each others profitability.
