      Very glad to hear that you're enjoying the Garden Planner!
      The Garden Planner is currently focussed just on the garden but you can add your house edges and boundaries using the Shape tools (just below the Garden Object tool icon on the sidebar). We've even seen people plan things like wedding table seating using this and the text tool before!

      @@gardenplanner Thanks for the reply! Its been a phenomenal tool for planning and re-arranging. I have run into only one problem so far... Quite a few of the plants I already have in my garden are not part of the Garden Planner database. Is there a way to submit plant species to be added? I apologize if this has been answered already and I missed it. Thanks again!

    • @gardenplanner
      @gardenplanner 2 года назад +1

      @@bekkahtaylor You can add varieties of plants, so the easiest way is to find the plant that it's closest to and then add a variety of that. You can also customize varieties so they have their own spacing and sow/plant/harvest times. There are also some generic icons which you can add varieties to, such as Flower, Herb, Fruit Tree, Fruit Bush and Other.
      We do add new plant icons when we get a lot of requests for them but it takes a while to get the planting dates correct across all the many countries and climate zones, hence no way for you to add them yourself.

    such a nice idea. does the application have any possibility for planning fertilizer? and if yes, how it covers all the dependencies like fertilizing history, soil type, ...?

    • @gardenplanner
      @gardenplanner 2 года назад +3

      The reasons you have mentioned - fertilizing history, soil type etc (and others like rainfall etc) - are why the Garden Planner can't recommend a fertilizing schedule, though we do mention the needs of each plant in the Grow Guides for each crop.
      Instead, we take the approach that you can record when you fertilize in the Garden Journal and tag it with the crop(s) through the season. Then, in the Garden Planner you can pull up that Journal History for each plant and it shows when you planted, watered, fertilized etc, along with any notes and photos you recorded and the harvest quantities so that you can use that to inform your planning and what you do the next year. That way you gradually learn from your garden and become more productive.

    There may already be plans to add these but some suggestions for more plants to include in the software are; dragon fruit, pineapple, bannana, and mushroom.

    • @gardenplanner
      @gardenplanner Год назад

      Apart from mushroom, these are all coming. We're adding over 130 plants this year and these ones should be in by about April for areas with tropical or sub-tropical climates.

    Is there any way to get it to save the layer order? It's already infuriating to navigate through the map layers, and this is further compounded by the fact that any time I exit the map and reload the program is resets my layers and hides my structures/garden beds.

    • @gardenplanner
      @gardenplanner 2 года назад +4

      Currently there isn't a way to set a detailed layer order. The Garden Planner works with the existing layers of Shapes, Text, Plants, Irrigation and Structures but doesn't distinguish order within them. If you let our Customer Service staff know about what you're trying to achieve with layer order, there may be a way around this.
      That being said, this is a feature that has been requested and we hope to be able to introduce something in the future that matches what you're looking for.

    OMG! Wherre have you been all my life? I moved to a new home 1.5 years ago. They already had a garden established - well, a plot of earth dug with rows - and the established plants are a mish-mash of flowers, vines, bushes & hen-n-chicks *facepalm* Very little room for my veg! This will help me redesign & plan properly. I don't really want to till everything under, but some definately have to be moved. Any tips for moving the hen-n-chicks?

    • @gardenplanner
      @gardenplanner 2 года назад +1

      So good to hear that you're enjoying the Garden Planner and good luck with taking over your new garden.
      Hen-n-chicks tend to be pretty tough so you can dig up, move to somewhere with good drainage (or gritty soil) and sun, plant them, then water.

    • @gardenplanner

      You can just use the website through your browser. The Garden Planner works on modern iPads and some other tablets with enough power but currently not on phones (the screen is too small), though we may be able to change the layout on phones in the future. The Garden Journal works across all devices and you can use it to add notes, take photos and record planting, harvesting etc while out in the garden.

    Hello, Will this app advise about companion plants or warn you if you're planting the wrong things together? thanks:)

    • @gardenplanner
      @gardenplanner 2 года назад +2

      Yes, a major part of the Garden Planner is our unique Evidence Based Companion Planting system which is all based on research. You just click a plant or plants on your plan to select them, then click the Show Companions button and it immediately shows a list of suitable companions and whether the benefit is one way or both ways. I demonstrate this at 4:10 onwards in the video.
      There actually isn't evidence to support 'bad' companions so we don't show those as they're mostly just folk-law (there are a one or two exceptions such as walnut, which we mention in the plant descriptions)
