Informative video, with a few remarks: 1. This car has a 6-speed gear box. 2. When you finally figure this out, your emergency braking abilities are tested by that car changing lanes to overtake. You honk them and probably throw a couple of expletives their way, but it was hard for them to see you, as you were right behind them before changing lanes. At these speeds, things happen in a flash.
I know that it has six gears but the sixth gear is an overdrive gear. If you look closely you can see the car not using it‘s turn signals so my guess is that the driver didn‘t look for approaching cars in his mirrors.
The ford guy only look at his left mirror. He didn't even attempt looking at the middle one to see the mazda coming at great speed. That is his problem. The ford did it really wrong and it is not justified. Also great reactions Fluppykey. I wouldn't have breaked so hard as the car can destabilise at that speed and it is dangerous.
@@FluppKey Yes, I can see downhill every time, don't worry! ;) I love inside and outside design, and also build quality in cabin!! Average consumtion with normal drive is?
Is the 2.5l with nearly 200hp not available in Germany? I'd like to see what the Mazda 3 turbo could do. I have a 2021 turbo hatch but only got it up to about 120 mph or so before I came up to a hill that potentially had a cop running radar so I backed off😂
@@FluppKey Why do you think go for the 150? Most spec sites are saying the 150 will do 200 or 206 so not much faster. They also say it has the same torque and one site says the 150 has less torque. Really confusing TBH. I though the 150 would be faster by at least 15kmh and have more torque.
@@PaulA-zp7hn Personally i‘d go for the 180hp Skyactiv-X. The 150hp looks better on paper at least so that‘s why I would take it instead of the 122hp one.

Please excuse the late reply. Speed is indeed not everything especially on the Mazda3. This car is more intended to be driven at constant speeds using cruise control on the highway. I remember doing this and it was very silent inside the cabin 😃
Great video. I test drove the same model in France a year ago. I did a short video on it. It's certainly not the most powerful, in fact, its performance is inferior to the previous models with the old 2 litre MZR engines. But it still sounds good when revved out - which it needs to be to get good performance. Handles well, refined, and very enjoyable to drive.
The problem with this car is that the gears are too long. Some manufacturers size the gearbox to reach the maximum speed in VI. Mazda choose to reach the maximum speed in V and using the VI only to reduce fuel consumption on highways. Personally I always prefer the first method, but this are simply manufacturer choices...
How is car handling with those 16 in wheels? BTW are you flooring the gas pedal up to 90mph? I am stuck between 122ps and 150ps, have you testes both? if yes, is 150ps worth the extra grand? TIA
I find it hard to believe Mazda puts engines in European 3's with less power than the MX-5 Miata in the U.S. The latest Mazda 3 isn't exactly a featherweight car in spite of it's size, 122hp or even 150 doesn't seem enough. In the U.S. Mazda dropped the 2.0l so now you can only get the 2.5l with 191hp/187tq or turbo with 250hp/320tq.
@jbm0866 It's for tax, insurqnce, fuel economy and emission reasons, also they don't want average man drive fast cars without paying top dollar for it. Besides, speed and power are overrated, comfort, durability nd economy matter the most.
@@ampm9771would you say this mazda 3 is comfortable? I am willing to buy it coming from a peugeot 208 82hp, and I’m afraid the engine won’t feel like that much of an upgrade in terms of performance, what do you think?
@Josh_b2316 Car is quite comfortable and extremely quite and fuel efficient. Depends on which continent are you living and Mazdas are built differently in different continents. Is your engine of the 4th generation still utilizing a port injected fuel system? If find Mazda's engine variations a bit confusing. But if this is still port injected then the engine should last you for many years to come. I thought the forth gen were all GDI based but I seem to have been mistaken. How many variations of the engine which use port-injection are offered by Mazda and dedicated to the 4th generation? And are they all coupled to a "Mild Hybrid" System?
All Skyactiv engines are direct injection and the newest models are (depending on the country where they are sold) also coupled with a 48V mild hybrid system.
