25" isn`t short scale, it`s slap inbwetween Gibson (24.75) and Fender (25.5) . shame these guitars don`t get the recognition , they really are PRS USA quality
Love love love the original series of Patrick Eggle guitars. Still have my 1994(?) New York Pro (set neck, Wilkinson VSV term, ebony board, Sperzel locking tuners) which I bought at another London Guitar show, and gigged with for 12+ years. Think the Berlin always looked better than a PRS, and I wouldn’t say no to another Eggle either, vintage or current ...
I listed after these guitars in the early 90s and a few years ago eventually bought one at a good price as a birthday present for myself. Mine has a natural oiled finish and the open pore mahogany neck is the best I've ever played. Also mine has a regular tone control with a push-pull coil split. It did also have a treble bleed, but I took it out since it is such a bright guitar to start with. It's nice to know other people love these guitars too!
My guitar tech used to be the manager at the Patrick Eggle factory. They used to make a model called the Vienna which was more PRS sized than the Berlin. Company name was originally Climaxe if I remember correctly !
Climaxe was indeed the first brand name Patrick built guitars under. I still have somewhere the edition of Guitarist magazine containing the review of a Climaxe, complete with a quote from Paul Reed Smith complaining about it being a shameless copy of a PRS Custom 22.
Patrick Eggle guitar are amazing, 22 fret Berlin elite is the best guitar I've ever had. The build quality is superb, they sound fantastic and overall for the price are about as good as they get for me personally.
Great video, but for anyone buying one. The big thing also to consider is when your sitting down the twelfth fret is a lot closer to your body than the classic shapes. Also that trem day to day is a faff.
I have a green 2003 Berlin pro I bought second hand Sounds nothing like this unfortunately is this one stock ? This seems to have real punch clean and driven
I think a Berlin Pro will definitely be my next guitar! Got my eye one one locally here in Sweden. Sold most of my vintage guitars a couple of years ago to get money for a set of really high end main speakers for our news studio. The one electric I still kept was my second ever guitar, a 1978 fender strat. But I have started playing more guitar again and missing both my Hamer Standard and a Fender Telecaster. A America built PRS would be my dream guitar but don't have the money for it at the moment. A Berlin Pro seems to be the perfect substitute at the moment! One question though. If I would like to replace pick ups for something better then the Kent Armstrong ones. I would like to go for a more modern PRS sort of sound for like metal n rock. Any recommendations on pickups?
Think Big Jim had a high spec signature version of the Berlin called a Legend - had beautiful maple leaf inlays faffing down the fretboard. Very, very classy.
Had no problem rapid changing between pickups and splitting coils etc playing live with my old Berlin deluxe back in the 90's and that was whilst being wrecked on all sorts of Middle Eastern goodness too 😀😀
Thanks for this. Patrick Eggle is a genius and his current guitars are just fantastic.

I had a Berlin Pro USA Celebration . Best guitar 🎸 I’ve ever owned

The Cimaxe!! That’s a terrible name.

I have the exact same model in the same colour. A 1997. Great guitar.
Very cool!
I would love to get one of these guitars.
Oh yes the 90s English PRS.
If you have them side by side you will see how much difference between a Berlin and a custom 24
Always wanted one of them, chose a PRS instead the Berlin was hard to find!!
I have a green 2003 Berlin pro I bought second hand

From that later date it was a different ownership situation, the pickups at least are likely to be different - it's a common way to save on budget.
Nice sounding guitar! Please guys we need you to give details on what’s the signal chain when demoing guitars 🙏
My bet would be the BlueGuitar here.
As you thought
I remember these series of guitars .. heel of the hunt they're a very good quality instrument .. PJE is a quality Luthier without question ..

Typically one of the Bare Knuckle options.
what amp are they using here, does anyone know?
Big Jim Sullivan had one in his latter years when I saw him gigging in Surrey and West Sussex. Big guy and small guitar! Big tone though…

@@chrisdrake447my eggle has the maple leafs
Of the 2 of you who is greater guitar player?
James
It's not a competition...

Take your rings off before handling someone else's guitar!!! I cringed every time I heard the thwack, again and again.
It’s a tool not a museum piece.
@@TheStudioRats ...seriously?
Too much switching? Really?
