🙌 thank you, I wonder if I should jusy update my 8 now though, seems like so much bulk just to run a wireless mic. I wonder if new gopros have built in 🤔
Sounds like you might want to look at the Osmo pocket 3 Also. Especially the creator bundle
@@TimSimpson thank you 🙌 will look into that
👍
How much? Where did you bought this product & how is it?
Great demo for a technophobe like myself. 👍
Can't we use wireless go mic... Without media mod in Gopro ?
Id like to know as well!
Not all mics have correctly work with mine, I gotten a high pitch sound, I narrowed down to a olympus working correctly, while the rode micro fails to work.
Thank you for this video Tim! How is the battery life of the GoPro when using the media mod? Have you used it in a car? I'm worried about it overheating
Heya - I would say that the battery live is great give what it can do, however I would keep a couple of extra batteries on hand. Heat management is always the enemy in small powerful devices. in the car - simple keep the battery door open if viable. but generally not found it to be a problem. The same rules apply for all camreas - the higher the framerate, resolution and other features and running, the more heat is going to be generated and the faster you'll draw the battery, so tune the camera for the job at hand.
if i am not using the gopro media mod case BUT a gopro 3.5mm mic adapter. should the rode wireless go set to powered mic still?
Tim I cut down a Mic muff and rubber cement, never have to mess with the muff ever again, only when the glue lifts.
Might need to get another 5 or 10 of then in a few weeks for a job ;)
Is there a settings to do if you wanted to do asmr video ?
This is helpful, salute
Very informative. Thanks for the tip. Just want to ask if the battery will be affected?
They both run off their own power so no. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment :)
Thank you TIm, using this now before I go to the UTMB to interview athletes there :)
Going have to see if GoPro automatically checks a non and powered mic? with the Promic I have.
I think it assumes powered mic, but does detect external
@@TimSimpson manual picking no auto picking Lol
Link for cable?
How much does it cost???
Thanks for a most helpful vlog. I’ve got a question. Does the Hero 8 Media Mod have protection for the lense?
no it doesn't
Great video. How long does the Rode mic battery last with continuous use?
ok, answered my question. Thanks
Glad to help!
Brilliant demo on how to set up, just what I was after, cheers Tim
Awesome to hear! Thanks for letting me know :)
Rode wireless ii works great with my hero 7; I am now experiencing audio delay from the rode wireless and gopro combo when using with Atem mini pro. Adding 06/10/22 using the mic independant (not attached to camera just next to them) into the wireless and into mic 1 port on the Atem Mini - no delay, and it sound great.
Thanks for the great info once again Tim....
Does the Receiver have enough grunt to drive the ATEM mini directly using the ATEM mini Mic 1/2 inputs?
Thanks for the useful video!
Just found your channel. And a big thank you for not talking at light speed like some do. 😀
Tim, I can't thank you enough for this video! I do have a few questions and I wonder if you'd be kind enough to run another test. The context is that I've tried this with the Hero7 Black and it doesn't work, if this works with the Hero 8 I will upgrade. Test 1: Can you test exactly what you did with one change? The change is to remove the internal battery, plug a USB power bank into the USB-C port on the media mod. Will it still work properly? Test 2 requires a GoPro Smart Remote, which you may not have. Will Test 2 work with starting the recording and stopping the recording with the GoPro Smart Remote. Why am I asking? Test 1 doesn't work with the GoPro 3.5mm adapter since it doesn't actually pass through power other than to charge the battery, so you must have a battery in the GoPro to work....but in my application, if you have a battery in the GoPro it will overheat! Test 2 has an intermittent problem in my Hero7 setup and I think there is Wifi interference between the Rode Wireless Go and the GoPro. So why not simply turn Wifi off on the GoPro? Because I need to use the Smart Remote to start and stop both cameras, one of which is out of reach. Anyway, I thought this might be of interest to you and your viewers since you've posted this informative video.
Dead-kitten is a better name for it...I went ahead and bought a couple of rigs...we have been using it for our show...but we have been running them through our camera inputs bacause the mixer was adding noise...so we got rid of it...besides the atem mic in leads the video by about 7 frames...they should have made them headphone jacks...
Even with external mic, does not sound very good.
Do you have the wireless go on minimum gain? That helps a lot. Or do you mean the mic in the mod?
@@TimSimpson Mine is still on the road, probably few days to receive the package. I was referred to my perception of the sound from this review. Hopefully, I won't be sorry for the purchase. ✌️
I've never seen any use the rode mic on a Gopro like that, they always get a housing or whatever, great idea man. thanks for the idea also.
Thanks for all the information brother
My Pleasure
Great video!! Thanks!
