Even though I’ve moved on a lot from the Post Rock scene Mono is still so touching.. they were hands down one of the best bands I’ve ever seen live across all genres and I’ve seen A LOT.
So new album yeah, I clicked immediately and shoved it up to maximum volume... a minute and twenty seconds later I get BLASTED in the eardrums... it is my new favorite
I don’t think we’ve paid enough attention to how brilliant the transition is into the loud guitars and drums. The opening is soft and, to some degree, ominous yet romantic. You might expect it to grow gradually, or even partially expect an explosion - but the explosion is not only jarring sonically, but comes right in the middle of a measure so it pummels you out of absolutely nowhere. Which I think reflects the meaning behind the title and how it represents the impact of sudden chaotic or traumatic events.
Saw you guys live in 2019. Amazing show, Ashes in the Snow is fucking incredible live. So hyped for this album, the drumming on this track is incredible, really has me going.
Mono's art is a truly life-altering, life-affirming experience. Grateful to have lived at a time when I had the good fortune of witnessing such a marvel.
Damn... this really puts it bluntly what this worlds society has become. dictatorship is everywhere and so many are willing to let it happen to themselves. only a small few are brave enough to stand up and say no. The music video is amazing i would have loved if it had a happier ending though
More than 20 years on, with amazing contenders like Pg. Lost and God is an Astronaut nipping at their heels, and Mono are still the heaviest post-rock band around, and one of the heaviest bands on the planet.
@@BalboaBaggins same! After some years of dipping into post-rock genre, both underground and mainstream, the only ones I still listen to are MONO,This Will Destroy You and Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Quality music that never gets boring.
@@HajotHakados Yeah, most of it in the genre is really bland and boring but there are some gems. Pelican's Last Day of Winter and Caspian's Loft are good too.
Yes,that's where it's headed fast! China,Australia are already there,Canada to a lesser extent but still very Authoritarian and,the People that really run the Planet want the same pattern of Control and Tyranny everywhere...I undermine and ignore the Politicians' directives and demands to the maximum. These Policies that have cropped up are ridiculous and un-scientific.It goes without saying that i feel total contempt towards these Political figures that are advising People to take part in a medical-experiment that has already harmed Millions and killed thousands.I cannot apologize for my stance on this. The Truth on this will come out!

If you've been following them for so long, how come you've never seen them? They've been touring since 2000.
@@BalboaBaggins I am in the Military, it's a little hard to see them live with my work schedule in Hawaii.
@@jethodgkin6610 Ok, understandable. Hope you get the chance one day. They're great.

The only postrock bands I actually like are Mono and This Will Destroy You.
