Manti Utah Temple Media Day Is Held

The open house for the Manti Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is underway in Manti, Utah, following renovation.
Media attended a news conference and tour of the house of the Lord on Monday, March 11, 2024. Those participating in the event included Elder Hugo E. Martinez, General Authority Seventy and First Counselor, Utah Area Presidency; Elder Jonathan S. Schmitt, General Authority Seventy and assistant executive director, Priesthood and Family Department and the Temple Department; and Relief Society General President Camille N. Johnson.
“We regard a temple as the most sacred structure in the Church,” said Church President and Prophet Russell M. Nelson at the April 2019 general conference after announcing the Manti Utah Temple renovation.

My parents were sealed in the Manti temple in the 1980’s. It is really beautiful and I would like to travel there to do work!

Does anyone know the purpose of the large auditorium like room at 1:35 ?
I’ve seen them before in our older temples but I’ve yet to hear what they are /were used for .

They are called assembly rooms and are usually only in the older temples. They’d use them to have church meetings. Today they are rarely used, but when I lived in DC they used the assembly room for a part of our stake conference.

At Kirtland there is a room like this where there was a marvelous outpouring! A true Acts Chapter 2 experience. See history Kirtland Temple dedication! Even non-members saw angels on the roof and fire from heaven!
