Excellent comparison, thanks for posting. The HD800 is completely over the top on the high end, giving the illusion of air but the sound is unnatural. Nan-6 is also bright on the top end but not so bad. Focal clearly lacks the top end boost but is very close to a neutral sound signature. I can see why the focal are unpopular, because of the sound signature, but actually these will be what I will be getting as if i wanted to add "flavor" to the sound I can use the EQ on my amp.
Great comparison recording! They are all good, very hard to tell if anything is different. Based on the look alone, I like Focal the best. I also think it's sound is well rounded. And, I think it will be great to include HD800S in the comparison.
First song. Focal Utopia SG seems to have narrow soundstage but the sound of instruments feel heavier or maybe db+- is about different. Sennheiser HD800 has big soundstage. Nan 6 does have similar sound like Focal Utopia. The vocalist on Sennheiser HD800 sounds a bit light, a bit bright and tone a bit different to Focal and Nan 6, vocal on Focal seems to smaller but has more impact I think. I does feel like Sennheiser HD800 is the brightest headphone of these. Second song. The basses impact Focal and Nan 6 make bold big impact than Sennheiser HD800. To my ears it is more easier to know the Sennheiser HD800 than Focal and Nan6. But I think I can not pass the blind test ha ha. Third song. Sennheiser HD800 show the vocal much boring than Focal and Nan6. Which headphone do I like most? It's Focal Utopia. Which headphones do I use to test the music If I am a music producer? Sennheiser HD800. You can know the different immediately when switch from Sen HD800 to Focal Utopia. From the soundstage to the sound signature. I listen this clip with Sennheiser HD650. Currently use the HD6XX and NAN-6 EQ'ed to harman. As much as I enjoy the dynamics on Focals, combine that with their peaky tuning and I find them harsh at times. Moreover, the drivers on my Elex would die once every 3-12 months so I don't think Focal is a brand I'd want to own again. If I ever get a HD800, it'll be for comfort lol.
HD800s are too bright and lack low end, they are far from being "the best" even in their price range. They have a very nice soundstage tho. The HD820 are a complete trash, they are not worth even 400 bucks.
The nan6 still has the planar “blunt/compressed” type of sound that I have been met on other planar headphones from other brands . The Utopia while sounding narrow, it doesn’t has that compression

The Hd800 and Nan-6 wins in soundstage and imaging for sure. Hd800 wins in overall clarity and 2nd Nan - 6. Focal Utopia overpriced sound like it shouldn't be in the running. There's a sh!t load of Utopias being sold for $1500 - 2k, like new on ebay from Japan.
omg the NAN-6 sounds super wide with the best timbre. HD800 sounds dull. Utopia had the best vocals. [listening from M1060C]. Anyone know where I can find a NAN-6?

HD 800 still the best after 13 years. The German King. My HD 800S and HD 820 with HDV 820 and Hugo 2 sounds amazing. Waiting for the new HD 900. 😎

I think it's impossible to compare audio like this, you need a much longer sample to be able to compare the transitions of each product
