You've got to watch Swiss army tips and tricks if you haven't already it shows you a lot of things for camping in bushcrafting that you can use that corkscrew tool for and now 2022 they have a Pharisee in rod and wax tinder that will screw right down in your corkscrew so you have something to start fire with they also have a faresium rod that fits in the toothpick slot there's more things you can do with that corkscrew tool if you think outside the box how many times do you come across a Philips in the woods
Mine is an antique camping model given to me by my grandmother many years ago. Mine always hangs on my INCH bag shoulder strap. It is amazing how often I use it. To me it is better than my multitool except that it doesn't have pliers. I had just been using it and that is what led me to this video. I am still trying to find out how old mine is.
The Camper should fit into the change pocket on most men's pairs of jeans reasonably well. My Victorinox Tinker Small (84mm) fits into that pocket perfectly, and my 91mm Camper fits well enough for me. Your mileage may very.
The corkscrew has many uses, see Felix Immler’s video for full description. Also Victorinox makes an aftermarket pocket clip specifically for their knives, see the Swiss Army Store for details.
i know this is an old review but i took my camper had an old knife i wasnt using took the pocket clip off drilled to holes and now have a pocket clip on my camper and carried it ever day for 3 years
+Dutch Prepper ha ha ha ha! I didn't even realize it had one! I just checked and there is a hole, but no pin, so I guess mine fell out. Oh well.... don't think I will miss it! lol Thanks for watching and pointing this out! lol
Got a one handed trekker and don’t care for it. Much rather pair a Camper with a folder. The saws on Swiss Army Knives are viciously excellent. The corkscrew is (by itself) useless to me but it does carry the little flathead driver you can find on amazon, which makes it useful for fixing glasses/sunglasses without resorting to tape. You can replace the toothpick with a fire starter specifically designed for the victorinox knives from Tortoise gear at tortoisegear.com/product/firefly-3-pack-pre-order/ They work really well with the back of the saw. If you need the toothpick, it can go in the inside band of a ball cap or in the wallet. Just my thoughts when using this excellent toolbox knife.
the reason theres the corkscrew goes back nearly 200 years when swiss hunters would take a bottle of wine or other alcohol drinks so that when they get a kill they can have a drink.
That’s a cool fact right there. honestly it’s great to bore a hole or undue tight knots, it’s incredibly handy to have. It isn’t JUST for wine drinkers that are luxury camping.

Nice review! If you find the corckscrew useless I would recommend Vitorinox Hiker. It's the same as Camper, except it has Philips screw driver instead of a corckscrew. I've had mine about 20 years and I think I've needed the corckscrew only once whereas I've used the screw driver dozens of times. I've got also a Victorinox Soldier (some surplus of German military). It seems the newer versions have Spyderco-look-alike blade which make them look tempting :)

Also, the blade and flat head screw driver have a liner lock in Soldier.

corkscrew=best tool to get open jammed knots.

Added a dangle clip to mine. Deep pocket carry!
Where did you get it?
AdventureCamping on amazon, search TEC accessories P7 clip. A little expensive but they work really well.
I had the same issue with the pocket clip, solved it with a ~6” lanyard for a pocket pull. Solved the issue for me carry it every day!
Those lumps on the toothpick helps to keep it in the scales. Great little knife. Take care.

Thanks man!

That's a great idea! I will have to try that. Thanks for the view and the tip!
You can get the Field master or the One Handed Trekker
You forgot the needle pin, under the corkscrew :o)

They don't supply the straight pin it's just a space for you to put one
Wtf! Mine is missing

With alox scales you lose the tweezers and toothpick options
you must purchase needlepin separately.
people have put clips on SAKs
nice video
+Jd MURPHY thanks! Appreciate it!
I all ways have one on me.

I like to use the corkscrew for punching small holes and getting knots un tied, really works well for those kinds of things so I kind of like it.

+Heikki Pitkänen good to know! I will look into these. Thanks for watching and the tip!
Useless?! Someone clearly needs to drink more red wine whilst camping 😉
