reto's end build starts out like: "FLY MY PRETTIES! FLY!!!!!" *evil laughter* but then finished as "the numbers are so big the game has to think about it...." *excited and concerned*
You asked this question early in the video about your upgrade to cloak damage, but you have three attack types in game: scythe, cloak and spell. Cloak attacks are equipment you pick up like the hammer, kunai and what not but not explosion and other spells that inherently cost Mana.
yeah the first prismium room didn't have any in it, it happens sometime in early stages i think they just have increased chances to be the stage reward
Looking at the numbers from 1:11:56 It starts at 10,765,910 for the 'ult' (each instance of damage from that spell is this amount) The next cast is 27,924,010 (very close to 27,923,998 = 10,765,910 x 1.1^10) And the next is 487,257,300 (very close to 487,257,072 = 27,924,010 x 1.1^30 = 10,765,910 x 1.1^40) Not sure if there's some rounding issues or something as to why they aren't 'exact' but still something strange is happening for sure. The proc on attack is happening more frequently than you'd expect or something. Clearly the 'temporary' +10% bonus isn't going away, at 1:16:44 you can see the damage for both the fire arrow and mosquito are at around 10^24. Thanks for coming to my MatH Talk
I think one change/update that could infinitely improve the game's longevity is to have randomized Transformations for The Scythe so its not just the same 3 over and over again
it's weird how the animations, combos, balancing (for one exception) and general execution and presentation of the game is top notch but then again things like the rarity of equipment is weirdly color coded, the retaliate stuff is pretty much unusable unless i missed something, the chances to heal are abyssmally spread (the aforementioned exception, like 3 heals in the first stage, then none) and the wording on some items or skills (e.g. "cloak" or "25 chances to pierce") are kinda vague and it's not very intuitive to read through the whole tutorial section to understand some mechanics
I think the retaliate build is possible, but it needs a perfect luck. The boulder rain gives you defense when you cast it, if you combine it with blue curses that give you even more defense and the retaliate:max HP and retaliate: lifesteal, then the retaliate build becomes much better. I did it once and had the falling meteors spell which allowed me to do some damage as well
I think these are issues that only really come up when people are playing the game without prior knowledge. Like, I can imagine the devs playtesting it and realizing stuff like "this animation seems kinda clunky" and the likes, but, because they know the game/what words and descriptions they used, they didn't really encounter these problems
@@Zonyxe I think the game is translated and thus, the feeling is not the same yet. Plus office talk is not relatable to that many people if you ask me, especially nowadays.
I'll fully admit I can't think of another game similar to this where it has excellent art direction, design, and is clearly more than finished in some aspects while also simultaneously being clunky or completely unintuitive in others. The health drops definitely seem to be the most immediate problem here, hypothetically fixing them would help a retaliate build.
First time seeing those numbers I burst out laughing, had to shut my mouth cause it's the middle of the night right now. Also, Pump Quinn was just a ball of wholesomeness, as per usual. Love the video, Retro!
The damage issue was the stacking spell damage buff. You were getting 2 sets of stacks , and my guess the second stack was adding 100%x10 multiplicatively causing that massive damage overflow instead of just the flat 100%at 10 stacks .
I think the thing that made your build truly work was the mosquitos. They allowed you to proc the stacks and free mana regen which allowed you to gain even more stacks that would then overflow. If you had been using literally any other spell you would've realized it was broken or at the very least op but you might have only gotten numbers in the hundreds, or maybe thousands if you realized that you can just spam them out of battle, but I don't think you would've been able to figure that out or spend the time to make those stacks that high.
I just imagine the enemies are do there thing hanging out and that and all the sudden they just here an incessant buzzing growing ever closer and louder then they see a swarm of glowing green mosquitoes slaughtering everyone around them and then the swarm towards them and as one moves to kill them.
I think spell main really helps. aleistar is good for clearing enemies specially when you upgrade it. Mana & Additional Spell Damage is a good card. (green one) but I guess you’re just experimenting and having fun. + sometimes you have to be patient against these bosses(Sorrows) and mini boss(thanagers) to observe first before rushing for a combo or attack.
Real quick. When you fought Brad, right in the beginning of the fight you launched mosquitoes, then you fireballed him. Go back and look at that damage. The mosquitoes were doing their damage PLUS burn damage. His health melted. I was hoping you would do it again and notice. If you get this build again, or someone else does, try it out and let me know if I’m wrong!
that was really quite a bug! been a while since a saw such a simple yet powerful exploit. and i wonder why the developer used such a big variable for damage? i mean, it seems hard to get even just 1000 damage in one hit yet the damage can reach 30+ digits? thats clearly overkill. i guess the problem was that there was no limit to the damage increase, like max +10 per level/stage and it would have been fixed. or the combination of effects was just never intended to work together. in any case, this was quite enjoyable to watch! 😄👍
Seems like it's actually a floating point value - the maximum value of a double-precision float (64-bit) is 1.79769313486232e308, but as you go up (or down) you lose precision. If that's the case, then there was still a long way to the limit. It could even be a single precision float, as these can reach 3.402823e38, but I've mostly seen doubles used everywhere nowadays tbh.
@@oplik0 e308... that is way more than i expected. but my point still stands, why would such a big number be needed? i mean, the programmer probably just used any working variable type and did not create a limit, but still...
I think having it be scripted that Control Room appears as an option in the *second* area might be a good idea, but with how little Soulary you're likely to have, let alone the odds you'll find a Prismium in your first 1-4 floors, I'd almost rather the Control Room be scripted to *not* be able to show up in the first area as it's near-enough a dead floor.

I kinda experienced a bug similar to this one using the pizza crust. It seems some of the temporary buffs that end up being carried over via elevator is raising the base Stat. Example I cleared 3 floors with the pizza crust active and gain 150 max life even after the temporary buff was depleted.

You should learn the moskillto opener and spam them before engaging to get free damage. I got a video showing it off. Try it out next time, I wonder what would happen if you killed the boss before engaging the boss. Hahaha
I don't think the mini boss is harder. You just have a lot more experience fighting the main boss then the mini boss. The few times you do fight the mini boss you use o.p ranged abilities to take him down instead of actually fighting him in close range and learning his attacks. Thus when you were forced to fight in close range you got wrecked.
