I agree 100 %. The young people have always been more tolerant, but Karpe has manged to educate and show also other generations. My stepmother, who as I am norwegian is turning 80 next year. She only wants one ting for her birthday. A ticket to a concert with Karpe. I will get it :)

Karpe have a special place in the hearts of many Norwegians. After the brutal terrori attack on July 22nd 2011 their music became symbolic of the new Norway that the majority of Norwegians want and love, with diversity, love and compassion. They are by far the biggest rap/Hiphop artists in Norway, and the fact that the group itself is multicultural (Egypt and India) give them so much power in their status as faces of diverse Norway. They performed on several occasions in the aftermath of the attacks, and I think you would find some of those videos powerful. Sadly I can't find a subtitled version of them performing Påfugl at the memorial concert.
Thanks for sharing this. I have only heard a few songs, but they really speak to me and resonate and many levels. They seem to be bringing cultures together which is amazing.

I am so happy your reaction was the first I saw. The other ones often left me a bit sad....no comments on the talent and the wonder of merging cultures/languages.The Indian people seemed annoyed that the song was not in hindi.The Pakistanis wanted the whole song to be in urdu...and both bashed each other,.....meanwile Norwgians are so happy about this !
That is sad! They didnt get the overall message then and focussed on the wrong thing. I believe that for those type of people you can do no good. Even if the whole song was the way they wanted they would still find something to complain about 😅
