Im very new to digital art so thought this would be a good way to pick up some technical tips on how to use my new Cintiq. I really wasn't looking for an 'Art lesson" as such as I've done this my whole life, but bloody hell mate, I am learning so much from you just about how to draw. This tutorial is excellent stuff and you are an excellent teacher. Just wanted to say thanks....So thanks.
Wow i didn't expect so much thinking is necessary in order to do it correct. it almost seems you have a degree in optical physics ;) in my opinion it turned out very authentic, great job!
It's so interesting to se how much your painting method has changed. You went from using multiple layers to do lighting on one object being rendered to doing an entire piece in one layer with the occasional work in progresses in seperate layers. It's just so interesting to see you going from telling people to work in multiple layers to telling them to work without silhouettes and to work in 1 layer
Yep, this was excellent too. I'm really impressed and really surprised you don't have a massive following (yet). You clearly have serious knowledge, an excited passion and curious mind, and a funny personality. I mean it. I'm usually pretty bored by art tutorial videos and want them to hurry up and get to the point of whatever problem I'm trying to solve. Didn't think that once with yours.
Great job Borodante it is still a pleasure to look at your videos :D diffusion is the "thing" you want to name =) (besides (reflection / refraction) dirty stuff push up the diffusion (diffusion reflection balances the specular reflection). A commentary though, I think you messed up a little concerning the green ball getting darker at the edges, it's true for a tube as you say (because the glass is thicker) but the ball is "filled" with glass, therefore the thickest part of the glass is in the middle, and the edges are lighter(for a sphere) (look at any picture on wide white background!) Cheers =)
1.these are really helpful do more plz 2.turn down your music it's really distracting for a tutorial video 3.your videos get better each week please keep up the quality 😊
Sorry to post on an older video. How do you paint water splashes? I for the life of me can not understand why certain areas are shadowed and highlighted when looking at reference images.
I feel like that with the branch wasn't right. I feel a little bit more confused now. But it looks like it should make sense. I'll have to wrap my head around it somehow.
Thank you for the very personal and easy-to-understand tutorial Dante! Any chance you could make a painting with "The wrong hand"? I got my finger caught in the doorway yesterday and ended up in the hospital to get it bandaged and stuff. So now I can't use my right hand, hence no art for a week until it heals... :(
Liquids! Okay, I have to do that: Do you have ever considered painting SCP 999 ? It's essentially a big giant blob of orange slime. Or...liquid. It sometimes even "hugs" humans and tickles them. I imagine trying to make *that* look any conving would be a great challenge!
***** There are some artistical interpretations of it already. What I find so curious about them is, that the creature is described as "happy". So most artists give it eyes or some kind of face to show that emotion. But technically, that does not exactly fit the describtion. I wonder if it even would be possible to give something that lacks any decent detail a feeling of such an emotion in a single picture, maybe via it's interaction with a human being.
serious question the green glove? I have lately been getting pain in my none drawing hand due to prolonged art work "the doctor says" my response to the good doctor was" your a douchbag because I'm right handed" guess my question is do you have pain in your none drawing hand ? oh and I hope you never die because life would be dull thanks
“I’m gonna spend 30 minutes drawing a fu**ing branch.”
The most accurate line for an artist

This was so helpful!! Thank you so much for making this video!
This was so crazy helpful. Could you talk more about refraction and reflection, and the differences between them?
Sweet!
